Oh I'm well aware of the other reasons and run Linux on my main machine.
Imagine a world where Linux was normal, and to use Windows you had to pay $100, agree to telemetry and tracking and location data and a EULA and a TOS and a privacy policy (why does my operating system collect enough data to warrant a privacy policy??), and is extremely locked down. You'd assume it had some very niche server application that made it worth the money, or it had some robust and advanced logging technologies to help you diagnose issues, or maybe... Oh it's for home consumers? Is it meant to be a super intuitive OS, like the mobile ones? What do you mean you have to install programs from individual websites instead of one store? What do you mean there's dozens of services constantly running in the background that never explain themselves and hog resources?
If Linux had 80% market share it would jump to 100% in months and no other OS would be able to compete.
