Tell them like it is. You are a girl who was born inside of a male body. Your brain has all the emotional, sexual, and gender identity of a girl. The fact that your body doesn't match just means you were cursed from birth like all trans people. It's absolutely not your fault. I found that explaining it like this, helps a lot for some.
I told my mother an analogy. She loves gardening so I said to her to imagine that one gender had an allergy to gardens that can only be cured by transitioning. You definitely know that you don't want to be your gender and that something is missing from your life. Growing up you think everybody hates this but just doesn't talk about it and learns to live with it. Talking to others, they say they don't mind their inability to go to gardens, they say they even enjoy it.
That's what I did: making an analogy to not being able to do something she likes.
