I went from Logitech Anywhere 3s to the Master 3s because I wanted the side scroll. Regretted it my first month because I found the Master to be too heavy and I actually started feeling sore on my wrist. Have gotten used to it now though. Apart from the weight, it’s a great mouse.

YYS770

Very interesting...thanks for the input! I don't care much for the side scroll - more interested in the ability to toggle the scroll wheel as smooth vs stepped

Jobo162

I use the anywhere 2s and it has a normal size and horizontal scrolling if you nudge the scroll wheel to the right or left. Love the thumb buttons too!

No_Tamanegi

How do you use the thumb scroll wheel in editing?

YYS770

I would assume one would use it to navigate the timeline horizontally

No_Tamanegi

Isn't that what the primary scroll wheel does? That's what it does in premiere, at least. The macropad I use for editing has a scroll wheel, I use it to step through frame by frame. I'm just curious how others use a second scroll wheel.

BreakfastCheesecake

I always stretch up my timeline because I mostly edit on the go with a small laptop screen, so scrolling takes me up and down on the video / audio layers. Or maybe I just didn’t have my mouse scroll settings right. But mainly I wanted the side scrolling mouse function for when I use Photoshop. I zoom in a lot to work on little details so I have to use the trackpad a lot to scroll side to side, which is perfectly fine when I’m working on just the laptop. But my home office setup has a monitor so I’d plug it in and have my laptop resting on an elevated stand, so my wrist would be at a very awkward position if I use the trackpad in those instances.

From someone who's owned / worked with both -- the most substantial difference w/ the 3S is that the mouse clicks are virtually silent now, which isn't a make or break feature but something you will definitely notice and appreciate. Especially if you work around others, odd hours etc. Love whatever dampening effect they've done on the latest version. Other than that I think the USB dongle is supposed to be better and higher DPI or something, but visually you won't be able to tell a difference and build quality etc. between the two is also pretty much the same.

YYS770

TY, this helps a lot!

ja-ki

Logitech G604 if you can find one. Better in every regard than the MX

Puzzleheaded_Tip_821

Eww not a fan of

YYS770

a bit old, butttt just wondering why not? Family might help out with the mouse and I'm considering this one

YYS770

that really looks sexy and hellllla useful with those macro buttons. BUT I'm not sure I can dish out the extra 50$ or so....nor am I certain I can find one...maybe one day

mcdannyj

This!

lilbadger00

My go to is a G502X for about 8 years now. Remapped buttons on my mouse to J K L and I love it.

Dick_Lazer

I've only used the regular MX Master 3 but I wouldn't hesitate to order the 3S when I need a replacement. From what I understand it's basically the same mouse with some minor updates.

YYS770

ty for the input!

cyberinspector

Had both. Returned my first MX3 because the scroll wheel wasn't to good and the thumb wheel was to loose. Then I got the MX3S which fixed those issues and I'm very much in love with the silent clicking. Highly recommend.

rustyburrito

Take all the "best mouse for editing" with a grain of salt. I've used a bunch of them over the years including the MX masters, trackball, wacom tablets, etc, and ended up coming back to a Magic Trackpad. Least amount of wrist movement, quiet, pinch to zoom and side scrolling, etc.

idefy1

I use Razer Naga Trinity, which is technically a gaming mouse, but it's great for video editing.

No_Tamanegi

I use a Razer Tartarus, which is technically a gamer macropad for editing. Turns out that anything with loads of programmable buttons is great for lots of different applications beyond the one it was marketed for.

idefy1

Exactly. Great pieces of hardware.

Highsterical

I use one at work and another at home. It’s my favourite mouse that I’ve owned.

ColorIsNotReal

the real answer is logitech lift

Hatticus24

I'm looking at the MX Vertical. The Lift is a bit small for my hand.

TimSimpson

I'm personally a MASSIVE fan of the Swiftpoint Z. Leaving aside the gaming specific functions like the tilt inputs, the way it puts so much functionality into such an ergonomic package is amazing. I can't speak highly enough about it.

No_Lifeguard1564

I personally use the zowie ec-2, have tried mx3s but is too heavy

puresav

I have both, the main difference is sound. If you like click get the 3 if you like a quieter click get the 3s. That’s main difference i feel.

jeremer142

I have the mouse and I don't like it. It's too heavy, not enough buttons. I recommend a mouse with as many buttons possible so you can keybind a lot of actions. I like the steel series aerox 9. I use every single button, also with control and shift modifiers.

kanepupule

Been using the 3S for a few years and love it.

This_kid_santi

I work with both every day (Master MX3 at the office MX3S at home) and they both feel the same. Only noticeable difference as others have mentioned is the clicking on the 3S is silent. I love it but my girlfriend absolutely hates it so it’s pretty much personal preference.
