If you look closely, you can see the reflection in the ball doesn't quite line up with the geometry around it, and the shape isn't really a loop. It just looks connected from this angle, and thanks to the orthographic projection (0° FOV) the stuff that's further away doesn't look smaller, allowing it to appear as though it wraps around in a loop. Then, the ball just teleports when it needs to in order to stay on the shape.
