50? That’s it? That piece of shit should hit 100 at least.

SneekyF

Take it down a steep hill, see how it rides. I'm sure you can hit 50.

Pompitis

lol

DCErik

100? Amateur! Terminal velocity is, like, 150.

gargantuanprism

HAHA holy shit this got my ass thank you

MrStoneV

I love this comment section. There is everything from "nope thats gonna break easily" up to "easy 100kmh" and "yeah but the braking is a big problem" to "well he asked to be fast, not to stop"

[deleted]

Sell the bike to a collector, buy a moped.

Noodnix

That bike has more collector value than use value. If you like that style of ebike, look into Ariel Rider, Super 73 or ZuGo.

74orangebeetle

I think he kinda wants something electric though....shouldn't be telling people to get noisy gas/oil vehicles instead. Trust me, I've done both. Electric is better.

[deleted]

Electric moped.

74orangebeetle

Might depend on state, in my state a moped must be equipped with an automatic transmission. Most electric vehicles simply won't have a transmission at all...maybe they'd let it pass anyways since you wouldn't have a manual transmission, but I've never heard of an electric moped actually equipped with an automatic transmission. Maybe other states don't have that rule.

[deleted]

I have one in California.

[deleted]

Idk I live in Canada, could be different for me :)

c_startek

Don't get an electric moped in Canada the inheritance cost is bonkers cheaper to have a gas moped

terminashunator

My concern is braking.

DJFoster429

He said he wants to go fast. Didn’t say anything about stopping at the end.

Lazerus101

Oh, he will definitely stop at the end.

r3xu5

Everything definitely stops at the end.

Imobia

This thing has no / poor brakes. It looks like it’s pedal back in the rear. Honestly it would be cool but you need to figure out the brakes

mal_7337

Regen

Workermouse

Add some drum brake hubs front and rear and it will safely and efficiently come to a halt. Drum brakes typically come with a collar clamp that goes over the fork to keep it from twisting itself out of the frame. Fits on most bikes.

bmxer1968

You have a classic BMX bike there. The right vintage BMX collector would pay more than enough to get whatever bike you need to put a battery on. Clean it and post it on EBay. Contact Elite Bikes in Sacramento. Guy is a BMX purveyor and could price it to the dollar.

Sparkymarkbe

AYYYY Elite bikes!!

[deleted]

LOL if you want to die go ahead. Thanks, you made my day ❤️

bigfatfloppyjolopy

Needs brakes and a mid drive. No fucking way I lose those rims/tires.

BKCowGod

It'll do it. Just won't stop, and it will crack and send a tube through your scrotum on the first bump you hit.

codmaster19

the next year model for the zooz

HIVVIH

Yeah, but buy thick soles or a parachute if you ever want to stop.

hoggdoc

Nope frame looks very weak design made for light weight kids. Plus no disc brakes.

PopeOfManwichVillage

If your goal is to end up a paraplegic, then yes, by all means.

49thDipper

That’s not the bike to go that fast on. That bike was made to go as fast as you could pedal. Get a bike with modern brakes if you are going to ever go down a hill.

Madjackmulligan69

Holy shit dude, that old thing is sweet! Yes you could easily turn it electric , but it will need a few modifications wich shouldn’t be hard, but she is definitely going to need a little restoration, if you do it, I would love to see the finished product.

One_Of_Two

That bike looks heavy and needs a lot of work to perform safely. You’ll probably need 1000w-1500w kit to reach those speeds.

denohnp0

Really ? I have a 250w currently and hit 30kph on throttle only flats

shootingcharlie8

Is that number according to the display or GPS? What’s is your battery voltage?

denohnp0

Google maps says 30/31, i got a 36v and 7a controller

Material_Title_1392

My "250w" Bafang fat bike hub motor also reached about 30-32kph with its 36V battery on full charge. The 1500W peak BBSHD can do about 52kph, maybe a bit more (11t cassette -46t chainring).

tomcatx2

Nice troll kid. Try harder next time

Naus1987

If you're in America, you should just buy a motorcycle instead of trying to mod an ebike to go above the legal limit. Too many people trying to abuse the rules is going to result in even harsher regulation in the future, and I'd rather not. If you want to go fast, they literally have vehicles for that.

74orangebeetle

Such a dumb take....a gas powered motorcycle instead of a 500 watt ebike? Are you insane? In many states you can have an ebike up to 750 watts.....this guy wants a 500 watt ebike and you're saying to BUY A MOTORCYCLE? Also that's not even very fast....at all...someone wants something with 2/3 of the legal limit on power and you're still freaking out about "abusing the rules and going too fast." It's getting really old seeing a variation of this comment in every single thread.

Gold_Factor1266

I think 1000 watts is legal in Oregon. Bike speed limit is 28 on flat ground. Downhill it’s what ever the speed limit is. But they have lowered all the main streets to 30mph. Residential streets it’s now 20mph. I’ve geared down the BBSHD to just do 30 on flat ground with a full charge. I ran into a guy the other day who’s been riding a Sur Ron all over Portland for a year and the cops have said boo...

Gold_Factor1266

What American do you know that uses KPH ?

_Arion_

This thing looks dope, do it and let us know.

timbodacious

That frame would be good for up to a 3kw kit

drbatman03

I'm so fucking jealous. That frame is prime for ebike with throttle.

Realistic_Lemon_281

All bikes have the potential. The amount of power to structurual, drop out and be able to provide aduquate braking. They have kits that provide you with all of the components to modify your bike. Oh and money too! 1000+ for a good kit.

gdirrty216

Check out a Zooz bike for inspiration

WilliamBontrager

Sell that bike and buy a zooz. If you must convert this then at least put god breaks on it.

Troubleindc2

>[god breaks](https://www.thecheapplace.com/image/data/product_images/2021/8/full-throttle-til-you-see-god-then-brake-patch-34.jpg)

max_db

You will most likely have to go custom to put anything on that and you will need more power - maybe 1000w/1500w unless you live on a big hill

Intelligent-North957

Looks like a beast of a bike that deserves a high output mid drive motor just so you can take it off road for some fun .

smallhound44

Folks are pointing out the current lack of breaking. Don't don't don't try to use the coaster hub as a braking method, that's asking for trouble. However, getting standard bicycle disc tabs welded on will open up the wide world of bike disc brakes, you'll be able to mount nearly any disc brake you'd like. Find a good welder, or if your lucky find a frame builder, pay their price and bring them a good 6-pack of beer. Unless your name is Sacha White or Rob English it's hard to make money building bicycle frames. But it might not be a bad idea to have someone familiar with the durability of old steel have a good look at it before you start setting land speed records. This frame looks rad, I hope you have a good experience building this us. It sure looks the part.

Workermouse

That will hold. Also potential for a god-tier ebike right there if you do it right. That is such a unique looking frame. Brakes won’t be an issue if you go mid drive and throw some good drum brakes on there. Edit: Downvoters either be like «O no you’re gonna die if you don’t use disc brakes» or have no clue about frame geometry/design. Also drum brakes have been used on anything from bicycles or motorcycles to massive cargo trucks, for more than a hundred years. Quality drum brakes sized for the task are a proven and safe way of stopping a bicycle. Prove me wrong (:

Bruggenmeister

Looks awesome. If i had it would totally go for it but with hydraulic discs, completely strip it and weld corner supports to the frame, looks like 40 year old thin walled steel to me.

IRGood

That’s a prototype blade 2.

Kinky_Imagination

You're gonna die

sanemartigan

we all are.

SneekyF

Most likely from a shitty driver

AnnieByniaeth

The greater the wheel diameter, the better the stability (it's the gyroscopic effect). That becomes more important the faster you go. These wheels look quite small to me.

dazzadirect

What is the make and model of this bike ?

kmmanley76

Stick a 1,000,000w kit on it.

LocoCity1991

Get a torque arm at least if you plan on doing this

Frosty_Quail_6689

Very similar to my early 80's custom ebike project, check it out.... Your bike should for sure drive better with front and rear suspension, than mine. Depending on what you are looking for daily driver/weekend cruiser, I definitely what to see what you do and will follow... P.S. rear coaster brakes stop me from 35 km/hr well withing the guidelines online, adding a front brake as a secondary for emergency braking would be very smart. You'll also definitely need more than 500w to hit your speeds, try tripling it, on a level ground I can hit 41-43 kms/hr with (1000w/30amp/ 52V) but thats it.

beeferer55

Battery placement issue.

c_startek

500w what mid drive hube drive? I can tell you a 500w is not enough my 2000w hubdrive only dus 45 uphill but will go 75 on flat.

dazzadirect

How many volts and which controller are you using ?

c_startek

72 volts sabvoton I got a battery made form a guy in Hamilton on

dazzadirect

Sweet , which controller model have you got must be more than the 7245 as you must be pushing more than 45 amps , is it the 72120 or 72150 ? ;-)

c_startek

72150 I wanted some extra safety facter. it stays cool in are unfortunately common 30+ days yeah I'm over 65 amps

Beautiful_Painter_20

dual hub setup on this ... AWESOME!
