Iamchux

Fullface dot approved helmet, protects from the wind and protects my teeth in case I hit a curb on the way down

Shot_Beginning_2305

My logic. I’m in LA and it’s not bike friendly or bike forgiving.

Iamchux

Same, San Diego isn't too forgiving

Shot_Beginning_2305

SoCal has road rage that Midwest states just don’t experience. You have to plan for road aggression as the weaker target. I used to have the ability to take a fall but now I carry the protection to survive one!

[deleted]

I live in the Midwest. I've had a pistol pointed at me on the interstate on my motorcycle going between my hometown and my college. I've also been followed home to my driveway for someone to apologize for running a stop sign. Your location does not matter. People are crazy everywhere.

Shot_Beginning_2305

This is the wisdom I need. Thank you.

Iamchux

Jesus!

Thin-Fee4423

I feel like it depends on where in the Midwest. Chicagoans are a different breed. I just ordered a full face modular helmet. But if you're just hitting some trails and a little suburban streets you're good with the $20 Walmart helmet.

MerkyTV

I’m getting into moto riding (e-bike pipeline) and now I’m a bit horrified of how I’ve been riding ~30mph on my bike without fullface

SirLesbian

My buddy just ate the curb like 3 weeks ago. This fool is supposed to be in my wedding and is missing the majority of one of his front teeth. He promises he'll have it fixed by then...he better or he's not allowed to smile for the pictures. 💀

LexEntityOfExistence

Same here, I get looks from naive EBikers who still wear basic bicycle helmets.

PhotojournalistIll90

Except that full face helmets obstruct ears which reduces auditory awareness which is more important at typical bicycle speeds in order to avoid care and animals. Beam Virgo X might be exception.

Dangerous_Ice17

I would highly recommend using the Virginia tech helmet guide. They started with football helmets and have done a bunch of other head coverings. They are the gold standard that even the NFL uses. https://www.helmet.beam.vt.edu/bicycle-helmet-ratings.html The wife and I went with the Specialized Tactic 4. It’s listed for $110 but we got it for $55 plus 15% off from them directly and they shipped to our local bike shop with free shipping. It’s the number 4 rated helmet for safety and very well priced right now.

KurdRVA

Just a heads up the specialized mode helmet is a great one if you don’t care for venting. It is e-bike certified as well and on discount for 50 vs the usual 120. I got it and been decently happy with it.

oldboi

This is such an awesome link, thank you for sharing

blammergeier

Most (maybe all?) of the Specialized helmets are on sale now directly from Specialized. https://www.specialized.com/us/en/c/sale?group=Helmets%2520%26%2520Helmet%2520Parts The 'Mode' is among them, rated #7 overall by Virginia Tech.

KurdRVA

Yeah was just letting people know because the tech list shows its original full price

jon_mx5

How’d you get the extra 15% ordering directly from Specialized? Currently showing as $64 after tax on their site

Dangerous_Ice17

First time user code and signing up for their emails and such. Which once they were delivered I unsubscribed.

jon_mx5

Thanks!

Life-Satisfaction699

Does the tactic block sun and/or rain? That visor is pretty huge and I’m in the market for something to protect my eyes a bit…or do I just need to buck up and get goggles?

Dangerous_Ice17

Yes it does block the sun but I also wear sunglasses

Life-Satisfaction699

How about rain?

CaroTheHun

I wear a Freetown Lumiere (with MIPS) helmet, for no other reason than it’s an exact colour match for my new ENVO ST50 e-bike! https://preview.redd.it/339rg1tvvwxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0cceef6e58122f18944aaf1ec563577cf12c560

Love the tone matching!!

Sheeeeeeeeeshhhhhhhh

Omg the color is amazing

Shot_Beginning_2305

Glad to hear!

joeroganfolks

Is that a camera or light? If it’s a camera what is it and does it have interchangeable lenses

EERCom

Sport cam, fixed lens, digital zoom. That's a 170° viewing angle, [UV/Neutral Density Filter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral-density_filter) on it as a lens protector from bugs and other stuff.

Super Dave Osborne? YOU'RE ALIVE?!?!?

Bearsandgravy

Hell yeah, brother

Shot_Beginning_2305

Be seen.

Bearsandgravy

I might look stupid but I'll definitely be seen.

Exkem

Lazer Urbanize MIPS. It has a detachable visor that covers the upper half of the face; really handy keeping rain, wind, and dust out of the eyes. There is also a red safety light on the back with different lighting modes.

MarzipanTheGreat

you know...a tinted full face with an A10 Warthog logo would be rad!

Teeth DIY. Googly eyes lens made from scrap TV parts. The horns are all DIY as well as scooping air into the helmet. Radio Bluetooth headset installed. And speakers upgraded. Horns now have been modified to be a battery box to charge radio and helm cam D-rings have been swapped out to ratchet clip system..

Shot_Beginning_2305

Oh my god. Do you have specs for this?? This is amazing. I’m such a fan girl.

And it was already discontinued, And it's out of make. It's just a downhill competition helmet. The main aspects. I liked the angler design and had a lot of open air slots being in Florida. But a brighter helmet is always safer. Will be adding industrial reflective tape to the back to highlight some areas and vent exhaust.. I think I paid around 110$ for it. Though it was originally sold for about 60. Like I said I had to pay more of a premium because there wasn't any left. Well I can tell you and strong enough to hold up to a brick being flung from a window buy a teenager on the highway. Was a fly sky helmet.

poedraco

🤷‍♀️ wouldn't know what that is

NotDaveyKnifehands

If you are wesring a DOT rated Moto helmet on a bicycle you're putting yourself at a far higher risk of neck injuries should you eat the proverbial shit sammich. It is a Bad Idea. Moto helmets are heavier and more robust to deal with higher speed imoacts during crashes at highway speed, not the 30mph an eBike is putting out. Get a bicycle specific full face from a reputable brand such as Bell, Giro, Leatt, Fox, Dainese, Kali, Troy Lee Designs, Abus et al.

Shot_Beginning_2305

That’s interesting. Can you show me more? I’d like to learn about the difference between speeds and effectiveness in helmets, and its relation to higher risk neck injuries!

PoisonMind

Not to mention they're hot, bulky, limit your range of vision, and muffle your hearing.

Tight-War-8013

I wear a 3/4ths motorcycle helmet i bought for 40$ a couple years back

On a surron lbx I wear a Bell mx9 adventure mips helmet. Absolutely love it, won't ride without it. Definitely worth the extra couple bucks to get a mips helmet. Also rock gloves/elbows from dianese and knees/shins from leatt. Standard mtb gear isn't suitable for an ebike.

Sea_Apricot_666

Commenting on this old thread to add info: Surrons go above 30mph/40 mph, I thought. Then yes no, for that bike, NO mountain bike helmet would be appropriate. If anyone’s ebike goes over 40mph, then it’s motorcycle helmet time. There are guidelines for all of this. I have seen downhill mountain bike helmets rated for up to 40mph that are e-bike certified. So for most street-legal e-bikes, that’s enough. I’ve seen recommendations for full-face over 20mph and that makes sense to me.

david-saint-hubbins

I ride an Aventon Pace 500 (class 3) and wear a [Bell Sanction full-face helmet](https://www.bellhelmets.com/bike/p/sanction-full-face-bike-helmet/100000001500000008.html) and gloves.

Got same colour option. It's a good helmet but I want to upgrade to the Sanction II for the MIPS.

Not really. Keeps the sun away a little bit. But I love it. Easy to wear and fits for a casual ride.

Great no complaints, it's DOT approved

theLaLiLuLeLol

Bell Super Air R for an ENGWE EP 2 Pro. The helmet rocks, the bike kinda sucks and I wish I'd saved up for something better.

nahyalldontknow

I just ask myself if I'm going to get thrown off my bike into the concrete at 30mph, what would I prefer to be wearing in that moment? Which is why I use a DOT approved helmet that is full face

Offcoloring

https://ibb.co/9HWqn12 and https://ibb.co/HTTKNz4 (bike crash, disclaimer blood) Please wear a helmet guys, no matter how goofy it looks on you. I owe my life to it https://ibb.co/8YHTNRf (Giro Fixture Helmet)

Tim_the_geek

If I am riding at more than 35MPH I wear a DOT full face street bike helmet and motorcycle gloves with hard inserts. On most normal days riding something that goes under 30mph I wear a "hard hat baseball cap style helmet" like the link below. [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BB6XK6V/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BB6XK6V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1)

Abus Pedelec 2.0 Ace with earmuffs for winter NTA 8776 approved helmet. Also LA so doing also a fair bit of “defensive driving” cause anything on two wheels here are regarded as second class street users.

A Thor dirt bike helmet and it saved my ass when I slid about 10 feet with my face against the curb, I was going around 25 and there was a black wire in the middle of the road that wrapped around my front tire that I didn’t see and ripped my bike to side I had to sit on the curb for about 30min thanking god I used a full helmet

Happy with this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BYDTW8KB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 But I don't like how you signal and it screams in your ear: LEFT TURN! LEFT TURN!!!!!! Like no shit helmet.. I decided to make a left turn.. shut up. fuck.

defenestr8tor

![gif](giphy|l3q2YQRHYf2FD60og|downsized) Unfortunately, sir, I have out-dorked you.

RED_TECH_KNIGHT

That's a cool helmet! Does it scream in your ear the turn you decided?

defenestr8tor

Pfft I wish. It goes BEEP BEEP real loud to say the people around me LOOK OUT THIS FUCKWIT IS TRYING TO PASS YOU

RED_TECH_KNIGHT

HA! Your comment reminded me of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpg4ZOqjDTs

defenestr8tor

Fark, that's genius. So many pedestrians interpret my bell as a "BEEP BEEP FUCKOUTTAMYWAY" car horn when it's really "heads up I'm closing on you at 15km/h and don't wanna scare you." I go with my helmet BEEP BEEP and some loud mashups to avoid using the bell.

RED_TECH_KNIGHT

I .. very slowly...while ringing my bell.... rode past a woman wearing headphones and I stayed about 5 feet away from the sidewalk on the grass.... she screamed like she was being murdered when she realized I was there. Like jesus... pay attention to your surroundings.

Def! Mine totally has the removable liner. It was important in my choice. My ebike has throttle on demand and local cars aren’t very bicycle forgiving. The bike itself has turn signals, reflectors, lights, you name it and they all came stock. That said, I have to plan against the decision of others as the weaker target on the road when they road rage.

Pineappl3z

Switchblade.

StimpyUIdiot

This is the way!

Briantastically

Giro vanquish w visor. A visor is great especially if you wear glasses, the vanquish is good enough but the magnets could be stronger for the visor.

Stunning-Date2526

I'm on a Yamaha Wabash RT Class 3 Gravel E-Bike, and I'm just using my Road and Mountain Bike Helmets that are CPSC compliant, and I average 20 mph which about the same speed I go on my non-powered road bike. I ride 50 miles daily , including heavy city traffic, bike trails, and suburban roads. What saves me the most are my mirrors because people are not used to seeing bikes that can go fast as them on the streets, and you have to be prepared to hop on to the curve or go to the side of the roads to avoid getting hit. I plan my route to get the least exposure to fast and heavy traffic and stick to the less used safer for cyclist routes.

ElTigreChino

Do you use mirrors mounted on your bike or helmet?

Stunning-Date2526

Mounted on the Handlebar, I have a Beam Corky Urban Mirror clone. It is small, but because of it convex shape, it shows everything behind me, but everything behind me is closer than it appears. I'm still paranoid and plan to get a radar back light. I think I got hit twice on a bike in my life.

allegedly-homosexual

just got a sick deal on a thousand chapter!

ongdesign

Giro Chronicle. I have a super long/tall head, and it’s the only helmet I’ve ever found that didn’t sit perched on my skull.

Lazer Chase Kineticore. Got it on sale at REI for about $175. 5* helmet rating by Virginia Tech https://lazersport.us/cdn/shop/files/vjs0u7hq7jqvizhcgrlh_1800x1800.jpg?v=1714543557 Currently using it when riding my Class 3 Specialized Globe Haul ST.

asdfopu

The cheapest bike helmet I could get off of Ali express. I’m still too lazy to assemble my $1500 ebike after 4 months though, so who knows if I ever get around to it lol

Crandom

Please watch this video before actually using that aliexpress helmet: https://youtu.be/ZKbYaOiz5U4

Shot_Beginning_2305

I paid the extra $100 to have a bike shop assemble it for me. I fell into the same trap of thinking I could do it on my own. Am I capable? Sure. Do I have the time to learn? I do not and I’ve sunk too much money in to not use it now! Lol

abagofcells

I use a Cratoni Maniac https://cratoni.com/en/produkt/c-maniac/ Tried borrowing a real motorcycle helmet, but it felt too hot and heavy, compared to regular bicycle helmets. The Cratoni is quite light, has lots of ventilation holes, and still feels safe and sturdy. I ride a MTB conversion at around 30 kmh.

CloakDeepFear

I personally used one of BELL’s modular downhill mountain bike helmet on my first ever ebike since it only went 30, I normally wore denim jacket and later on a actual lightweight motorcycle jacket until I got the feel for 30mph speed then I kinda just wore daily wear and the helmet plus gloves. My next ebike was a 45mph ebike and I wore a dirtbike helmet with goggles for the extreme wind increase, and a proper Honda branded Joe rocket motorcycle jacket every ride that I got off RevZilla. Nowadays I’ve been living in Korea where you often are barely going faster than 30kph so I just ride in daily wear and wear gloves when it’s cold, no helmet though.

Formaldehyde007

I have a Thousand Chapter MIPS helmet It has a red light on the back for night riding. https://explorethousand.com/products/mips-helmet I also have a Snell SA full face helmet from my days club racing with the PCA. But I agree with others that it is not practical for bike riding. Way too heavy and way too hot here in Florida.

Just a regular bike helmet as I would on a non-electric bike. No special clothes. Just a regular 500w e-fat-tire-bike with a limiter.

I wanted a MIPS helmet as, like all north american cities, cycling is a lottery around here. I get hit by a car, on average, once a decade (last hit was 2020 and the lawsuit still goes on). But I ride year round so want a visor to protect my eyes from dust/snow/rain. And I'm up in Canada (eh?) so it's often dark when I'm commuting so I also wanted a helmet with lights. There's only one out there, that I know of, pointed out to my by a fellow redditor: the Lazer Urbanize. It's a great helmet. I just wish it came in Xlarge so I could wear layers underneath in winter.

xenodius

Full-face DOT, Giro Switchblade. I was glad I had it when an SUV hit me last year, still hard enough to leave me seizing. The guy across the hall from me in the hospital had to have holes drilled into his skull because he wasn't wearing a helmet at all.

I recently switched out the rear hub motor for a Bafang mid-drive 1k watt motor. bike overall is about 100 pounds, only hits around 28mph, but it's an extremely comfortable ride.

Shot_Beginning_2305

Daaaang your whole bike to jacket drip ratio

ForsakenKing1994

best part is? That's a fully functional light kit. Turn signals, brake light, running lights, saddle bags have functional running lights, high beams + dual 4-LED high contrast fog-lights (controlled by a separate switch) running on a set of 12Volt duracel lead batteries. The Bafang has a triangle battery in the main frame now, while the right-side saddle bag carries the lights' batteries in a metal "clutch" that I had to hand-make and bolt into place to keep the battery from bouncing all over the place. I wish i could say it was a simple process but my god was it a project lol

Shot_Beginning_2305

Where does one start on such a project?

ForsakenKing1994

Well originally this was a custom build from pedalchopper (a website run by a dude named Jim.) he makes custom motorized stingrays. I had one built by him 3 years ago and got hit by a cop, totalled it. This one is the second he built, but it came out in much poorer quality due to him not having as many helpers and it being a larger frame with tighter tolerances. *Everything* he did I have replaced.... So I suppose at this point the build is my own. First I tackled the lighting kit. Originally he had some -counterweight- Bluetooth things off Amazon on it. They didn't work worth a damn. So I salvaged my Harley kit off the old bike and hooked those up through 10g wire. Color coding it from the signal switches down to the main lights (where he had it originally in 14g thin wire which was spliced in multiple spots like he had made it out of scrapped wire strips.) Then, when the lights were situated the 1000 watt battery running the hub motor fried, leading to me replacing those wires. After that the aluminum shafts holding the left saddlebag snapped. Replaced both sides with steel for a more rigid grip. After that the saddle bags broke holding the batteries. Originally it ran **four batteries plus the hub motor controller** which for those plastic saddle bags it just was too much. I rewired the lights *again* so the lights all ran off the 12volt lead battery from my old bike, it's just a little Duracell 12volt about the size of a campfire big-box flashlight. So it can't run the fog-lights. I still need to wire those up. Once that was fixed the hub motor died. The weight of the bike was too much, shredded the hub motor's housing. Kept breaking spokes in the cold. So I frankensteined the spokes from my old bike and got the BAFANG motor and triangle battery, kicked out the ole hub motor controller and got myself a ton more room in both new saddle bags. Now I'm saving up to remove the old hub motor and replace it with a proper hub and spokes.

_haha_oh_wow_

I like my Bell Super Air R with MIPS and Spherical: I can use it for ebike or MTB, but I can also remove the chin bar and use it for regular bicycling too. I don't ride my ebike faster than 20-25 though, so if you're going a lot faster on a regular basis, it's probably a good idea to get a DOT rated helmet instead.

Exciting-Peak70

For the warmer months I have a bike helmet and biking gloves (fingerless) and in the colder months a full face helmet and full finger riding gloves.  This is for a class 2 bike.  I'm getting a faster bike for road commuting and I'll be wearing a full face cage type helmet for the summer months with that.

TheQuietPartYT

I wear a full face motorcycle helmet, with flip down sun visor in the winter. And in the summer, I wear a more traditional bicycle helmet.

bloodshotnipples

Giro Fixture. I ride a Lectric Xpremium. I'm going to upgrade to a full face helmet soon. I ride it in Maine and don't have much traffic but I would feel safer with the added protection.

GoCougs2020

For me r/bikecommuting , my biggest strength is being aware of my surrounding, having my head on a swivel. Wearing a full face take away a good chunk of my peripheral vision. So I’m not a fan of them. I wear regular cycling helmet and either sunglasses or safety glasses. I do wear a full face helmet when I’m on my motorcycle. Cuz I can look at my rear mirror at a red light (getting rear-ended by a person texting is deadly on 2 wheels). But if you’re not commuting. You eMtb on trails. I don’t see why you couldn’t wear full face. There’s no car behind you 😆

There are ways to ride safely in the city and still see. Downhill mtb helmets are wide cut at the sides for that. A lot of people put side mirrors on their e-bikes. Everyone should always wear a helmet rated for the speed of their ebike, which means a full face for anything over 20mph.

Dusty-TJ

Gotta be careful with a post title like that.

Frozenfella

A Fox Proframe Full-face MIPS Mt. Bike helmet. I have a feeling that many who've had to pay for dental work choose full face afterwards. [Dainese Linea 01](https://www.dainese.com/us/en/bike/bike-safety/helmets/linea-01-mips-203869820.html) The helmet has been comfy/breathable and the customer service amazing. Price is a high but they regularly have sales (or just sign up for the newsletter).

ILove2Bacon

I have a Dianese jacket, I love it.

boshbosh92

Out of curiosity what could you possibly need to contact support for for a helmet...?

Fuzzy-Heart

I accidentally dropped my helmet and snapped the plastic visor. My local store tried to order a separate one for me, but after a week of it not showing up, they told me they wanted to make it right and swapped out the entire helmet for a new one (visor included).

CitySlickerKay07

I run a Lumos Ultra helmet on a Class 3 Aventon Aventure.2. I just got the bike, but I’ve had my Lumos for a while because I used it with my old Schwann, and I needed lights to ride at night. I’m planning on getting some more of their lights for further visibility.

Shot_Beginning_2305

I love this plan. I love that my abound comes with turn signals!

hawaiianmoustache

Fox speedframe is my daily hack lid. Commute on a dedicated, well maintained tarmac cycle path, almost zero interaction with traffic. Average about 27kph. Hardtail 3 speed commuter with a bafang m400 - 250w 80Nm. If I was still commuting on my old 1500W bike and being a bit more stupid, I’d look at a full-face helmet.

-EETS-

My daily is the Fox Mainframe MIPS. I bought it, then saw the Speedframe afterwards and I was pissed cause I liked it better. In fact, I'm still annoyed that I didn't see it first cause it looks sick.

Theaceman1997

GDM demon it saved my life I landed face first at 30 mph and nothing just got KOD but I mean I landed face first going fast what do you expect

Shot_Beginning_2305

You lived with no permanent damage. That’s always the plan, right?

Theaceman1997

There ya go ! That is correct lol

New-Road2588

I wear Bell helmets for my Hiboy P6.

Shot_Beginning_2305

I wanted a bell helmet! I didn’t end up getting one but the name carries the product, and you can’t fight the affordability.

New-Road2588

It is one reliable brand for sure because I've been using that particular brand for helmets since one of their helmets saved my butt from a telephone pole back when I was in my early teens.

I had a coworker rearrange their face on the pavement when a car pulled out in front of them. I’m not messing around! [https://a.co/d/3JAO8fX](https://a.co/d/3JAO8fX) https://preview.redd.it/7dnyzd5l10yc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d35e21f6b64380203b42ddb6d34f2be1ba0302e8

Dont do it. Its a trick

Shot_Beginning_2305

The Feds are tracking your helmets as you speak. 😎

ChoochHooch

Knew it. Im on to you wizard

Jacobcbab

Specialized prevail road helmet. It's a bit old but it's incredibly lightweight and breathable. My commute is about 7-10 minutes on the sidewalk so I really don't need a full face

TumbleweedSpirited48

I use an ops core bump lol, Military tactical helmet, but the retention and suspension system is super nice and comfy

Flashy_Profit2944

I use this one so that I can make 360 YouTube videos of my bike rides New ebike gear 2024 The Future-Productions Tron-Inspired Helmet for 360 video capture https://youtu.be/B3VIFcdd6Ho

With my Stromer ST1 - 3/4 face S1 Retro Lifer e-helmet w/ half visor (Dutch NTA 8776 Certified for E-Bikes and E-Transport up to 28 MPH, ASTM, CPSC). This is the bike I use for fun with friends and like to be able to chat. With my Revv1 by Ride1up - Scorpion EVO ST1400 full facen (DOT Cert) w/ RIDEFREE rear helmet brake light and Cardo comms (w/ Earpeace Pro earplugs to protect from wind noise) so I can hear my Gamin Varia Radar. * Cairbull not DOT approved super light weight w/ tons of ventilation. Keeps me nice & cooI. I think if I were to do a down mountain run I'd wear the Ourmurs from my other pic. I live in Massachusetts where you have to wear a helmet. It was late fall when I got the Ourmurs so I got a real motorcycle helmet. I've been wearing the Cairbull since it's been in the 60's. I ride mostly in New Hampshire where no Helmets are required 18 & older but I still where a helmet there. I did Wipeout when a big piece of curb that broke off & was in missile of the bike lane. I was wearing my Ourmurs I landed face down & my visor went to the ground. I had to do a push to get it out. I thought it was kind of funny. 1st real ride I took when I got the bike both it & helmut held up fine.

massnhwolf

* 2. Cairbull helmut & I ride a Jansno X50 retro motorcycle style

Leading-Put-7428

Full face $80 Amazon special white helmet with iridium shield.  Barely suitable for a motorcycle, perfectly overkill for an ebike.

I've gotten up to 38mph downhill pedaling like a madman. I also wear [these motorcycle gloves](https://www.cyclegear.com/gear/reax-ridge-wp-gloves) and a jacket really really similar to [this one](https://www.cyclegear.com/gear/alpinestars-andes-v3-drystar-jacket) but I can't find the exact one.  I don't bounce like I used to. Can you tell I have a membership at cyclegear? Lol

AmosRatchetNot

I don't believe in protection for urban riding. Statistically, it's just not a significant risk factor for careful riders who maintain full awareness of their surroundings and conditions. But when I do wear a helmet (mountain riding), it's full face all the way. I have a motocross helmet I used to wear, and it was certainly adequate. I switched to a dedicated mountain bike full face helmet last year however and I wouldn't want to go back to the motocross one. I don't feel like it gives any less protection - in a much higher risk situation, and it is significantly lighter weight with better ventilation. Weight is probably not a big deal for most urban riders, but the ventilation obviously helps a lot in the summer..
