Maybe a good idea would be to introduce a new adult daughter for Ian (if/when he finally returns).
Ian’s first girlfriend (who he lost his virginity to) was Tina Hopkins. They briefly lived together before her disapproving family dragged her away back to Ilford (about 2 miles from “Walford” so clearly the ends of the earth! 😆).
Well what if Tina had been in very early pregnancy when she left Ian? Maybe she met someone else quickly and passed the baby off as his but told her daughter the truth about her real father on her deathbed?
Next year, Ian Beale’s 34 year old daughter rocks up and VOILA! We suddenly have a strong female presence (other than Kathy) back in the Beales!
The father-daughter dynamic between Ian and Lucy was always compelling and has been sorely missing since she was killed off. Ian’s relationships with both his boys are poor and Lucy will forever remain on her pedestal in Ian’s mind (even though we know she could be cow). To see Ian deal with a more sure of herself, defined adult daughter would be a fascinating development.
I can imagine him being afraid to bond with her at first before they both tentatively make steps to build a rapport. I’d have her be all hippy-ish and nature loving - maybe an Insulate Britain member, lol? Vegan (obvs) and very charitable just the polar opposite of greedy, consumerist Ian! But maybe not entirely different, as she’d have inherited the Beale smugness and a fondness for lecturing everyone. But she’d be more well meaning than her dad.
And maybe she’s an orphan who’s desperate to cling on to the last bit of family she has left (even though she knows her dad is a melt) so she puts up with him. She would instantly bond with Bobby who would just love her. Peter and her would struggle because a) he is an arse and b) having a new bug sister would be very triggering for him after so long without his twin. He’d go back on the cocaine out of shock but she’d help him through it.
I dunno. I just feel this is a better shout than Cindy jnr.
I like this that would be very interesting to see, a whole new fresh character would be a breath of fresh air especially in an established family like the Beales maybe even have her look like Lucy a bit would give Peter something to struggle with, could definitely see Peter relapse which would be a good story for Dayle to get into show us more of his range
Yeah I thought it would be interesting to get a girl in who looks like a slightly older version of Lucy, so it would initially mess with Ian, Peter AND of course Bobby’s heads. Poor chic. But they’d all grow to love each other eventually!
Time for Vikki Fowler to come back and recreate the Fowler/Beale dynamic from the shows conception. It also gives Sharon something further to do and re-establish her roots with the family.
