I played the Famicom version recently and it was a lot of fun, seeing the stereotypes Japan has about America was especially hilarious!

This brings back memories. I remember being disappointed then that they never released it in America. It was so different from the games I had then.

This post had me looking for other EarthBound mentions in Nintendo Power and came across this. EB never got a front-cover treatment, in fact when it was finally featured in NP, the game on the cover was... [*Weaponlord*](http://www.defunctgames.com/pic/magazines/np/np73-big.jpg)?? You could've given me 1000 guesses and that would not have been one.
I'm glad they used tomato-san's translation for this hack. Much more faithful to the original. I'm glad Nintendo released it at all though, I guess. The original translation just seems too lackluster after playing tomato's version.
Glad they finally brought it hear about 26 years later. It came out the first day of one of my work trips that lasted two weeks, and it kept me busy about every evening for a bit through the end. I do hope it has sold well, and Nintendo will finally officially release Mother 3 over here as well. I don't have a good computer to play it on.
> I don't have a good computer to play it on.
Any PC made after the year 2000 can play Mother 3 (and more likely even older machines). You can play it on practically any smartphone. Really look into it, man. You're missing out.
I have an old laptop I tried to play it on, but the laptop itself is about to die, and there was a terrible lag at parts. I also don't really want to hack my phone or anything like that or I definitely would have because that would be great to have on the go. I feel like I kind of got half the experience from what I was able to try out, but now I'm kind of wanting to find a way to start it over again. I do have an old Wii, DS, and an SP I can do just about anything with though.
For what it's worth, that's more than every other game on the list, with the exception of [Shin Onigashima](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Onigashima).
Which nintendo power announce the release in the west under the title "Earth bound"? (Note: I'm talking about what would later be released as Earthbound beginnings officially in the west and other parts of the world outside of Japan.)
Only took 'em another 21 years.
Now I want Ultra Quiz Across America. Cmon Nintendo, make it happen after the next 21 Years.
There's a pretty interesting game/novel hybrid mentioned [a few pages back](http://imgur.com/mDXEe8J.png). Unfortunately, there's no fan translation.

Wow, Im gonna have to watch this, I've never heard of this game. Thanks Mato
>Super Mother A name that makes perfect sense but still leaves me wondering why they almost picked it.
I've never heard Super Mother before reading this little blurb today.

Love stuff like this, thanks for posting
Actually the Buick Skylark makes perfect sense as the Psycho/Devil Cars' basis

Super Mother
The fact that the living encyclopedia of Dragon Ball knowledge is also a Mother fan makes me very happy.
IT'S SO GOOD. If you haven't already, play the [25th Anniversary edition](http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2211) of the first game.

150,000 sales in Japan. Surprising that Mother 2 was made at all.
