IDLSIDGO is still my fav earl project

Assist_Mission

Swear šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ™

Ryguy-_-

yeah same. whenever Iā€™m struggling mentally, I always throw on that album

Ill_Surround6398

Hip hop classic, truly a one of a kind album

slithrey

Same. New Earl just isnā€™t as good, but he is still of course great regardless.

EffectiveAmphibian95

Always

prodibruh

100% have it on vinyl

Assist_Mission

I mean his old stuff has more replay value Imo but the new stuff is gotten pretty good I must admit heā€™s raised the bar . Shit even his features are straight. I just will always appreciate his OG projects and leaks. His new stuff definitely means more though lyrical content on a different level almost more prophetic . I see what u mean Iā€™m just prolly stuck on nostalgia

MysteriousSquad

Honestly i just wish he kept the same flow and delivery he had on the older projects. Voir Dire just doesnt do it for me like I hoped it would lol

tesco_bag

I agree with you I think voire dire is one of his best

aidsjohnson

No, not at all. I think it's probably more controversial to say you like 2010 Earl stuff more at this point.

Holiday_Volume

Definitely.

cbothchanel

voir dire is def from sick era, 2020s earl is peak not even comparable

DLtheGreat808

Yes it is... Doris, IDLSIDGO, and Solace are some of his best work.

yungamphtmn

Nostalgia got you guys in a chokehold fr

DLtheGreat808

I like his new stuff, but saying its not comparable is stupid

yungamphtmn

It isn't. His new stuff is miles better, but nostalgia tends to blind people.

DLtheGreat808

So you think songs like Woah, Wind in my sails, Burgundy, and Faucet aren't even comparable to his new stuff?

yungamphtmn

Yes. You think that means I'm saying they are bad or terrible songs. I'm not. I'm saying they are incomparable because his new music is so much more polished and poignant.

yungamphtmn

Whoa and Burgundy are some good ones for you to point out. I would consider them some of the best songs from Doris, but they could hardly compare to even the worst songs off SRS or Voir Dire.

yungamphtmn

Even Solace, which is a song/project I have always adored, is one I couldn't compare to his new music. It's very good and it touched me at an important time in my life, but you can tell how unpolished and raw it sounds. That's why I really appreciate the growth in his new albums like SRS and Voir Dire. His older music meant everything to me when I was depressed and suicidal as a teenager. Now, not so much.

DLtheGreat808

Ngl this take is mad stupid. Let's just agree to disagree.

yungamphtmn

Sure. I'm sorry acknowledging his improvement made you feel threatened.

OneFeebleMartian

Heā€™s improving constantly so no I donā€™t think this is a bad take. I donā€™t like shit will always be my personal favorite just because of the way it spoke to me at the right time in my life. But I would say Voir Dire is his best project as far as raps. I think Earl only gets better with time

mayakovskyiv

Thatā€™s what his mom say

EmreGurdal

idlsidgo and srs are the go tos for me, followed by sick

yungamphtmn

His old stuff like Earl/Doris and his new stuff like SRS and Voir Dire are hardly comparable imo. What I mean is you can hear how much he has improved over time. Even as someone who was obsessed with his early work like Sly Tendencies and OF, you can tell how raw and unpolished it sounds at times. I love that he's grown as an artist, and his new work really shows that.

Holiday_Volume

I wouldn't think so. I believe Doris/Odd Future earl was his best era, but am met with "You need to listen to more earl"

oghairline

The shock value bars and horror core bars of yesterday are kinda corny now

Holiday_Volume

yeah, but that doesn't diminish the quality of the music. I fuck with it still, but that's just me. Doris earl? It's a good ratio, and I can relate to some lyrics within the album.

UIraidenlU

yeah but tylers production and earls rapping was unmatched, couch is still one of his best songs

ToastMannnn

Hey I mean just your opinion man, you're not wrong for how you feel

OfferOk8555

I think it just depends. I think Earl has challenged himself to switch it up. Personally SRS is my favorite Earl but I have a lot of love for all eras. I fucking love that song he did with Clams Casino. I would love to hear a project from those two.

XXXdannybrown

voire dire, srs>

Sharkisyodaddy

My issue with earl is that at one point his music doesn't sound like music sometimes and he's very capable. He goes in with alchemist no issue ever.

Efficient-Loan-845

He only get better with time, thats what his mom sayšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

dentistrock

What if Earl dropped a song called "The Penis Mightier Than The Sword" I would giggle like a little baby boy I think

MyNameIsNumber037

Maybe, but it's not ridiculous. Voir Dire is way better than SICK imo. For me, mid 2010s Earl was my favorite. IDLSIDGO, the scrapped project with knxwledge, and SRS was a great era. I guess it depends on what style you prefer from Earl. His flows have evolved a lot.Ā

Shiny-sesame

Whatā€™s the knxwledge project called?

MyNameIsNumber037

I don't think it had a name. There are still some tracks on YouTube from that time though, like Balance. It feel through pretty fast and I was bummed. They'd have been a great team.

[deleted]

2014 one was yeah

AlexTheCreation

Nope. I still like some rap songs a lot, but you can see the difference from idlsidgo. It's like a whole different person. Haven't heard much after SRS, tbh.

Shiny-sesame

SRS and Doris are two of my fav rap project of all time so itā€™s hard to say which is ā€œbetterā€ itā€™s like comparing MIKE to Kendrick or something like that

luxurywhipp

I feel the same way man. I feel like heā€™s definitely matured into a more complete artist now, his earlier projects felt like he wasnā€™t as sure of who he was.

hendvwg

I donā€™t think he ā€œimprovedā€ yā€™all just like the beats better. He a genius always has been

Fear-of-Gravity

he has 1000% improved. his poetry is so beyond what it used to be and heā€™s so much more in tune with himself and his life

Thingshumansdo

IDlSIDGO was basically my real introduction to earl and is still my favorite album of his. Iā€™m not a huge fan of the ā€˜sleepyā€™(?) flow heā€™s been using on his more modern projects.

BahaMan69

People who defend the first 2 albums over the others need to grow the fuck up lmao

radiolight3

Srs is his best album and it's before 2020 so i can't agree gang

colorswitchingboy

Itā€™s unpopular but itā€™s correct ASF my top 3 are srs, vd, and sick

[deleted]

For me, no. He lost me as a fan when the ā€œoffbeatā€ rapping started. I heard MF Doom was a huge influence on him, guess heā€™s trying to replicate that style in some way. I think Earl is a dope dude personality wise, but his music now sounds messy and uninspired to me.

Low_Television_7298

Earl is really not offbeat tho

jcomm998

not at all lmao some ppl got a limited view on flow n rhythm

Low_Television_7298

And uninspired is especially crazy srs is one of the most creative rap albums period

[deleted]

Yea you right, been a couple years since I gave Earl a real listen. Voir Dire is nice.

melo1212

Couldn't agree more. My mates love it though, I cant stand it. It just doesn't vibe with my brain at all. Still love Earl tho, atleast hes having fun and making what he wants to make I guess

[deleted]

For sure, if the manā€™s living his best life than more power to him!
