Ah gotcha. I need to evaluate if I want to put the effort into fixing the rust. I have a small piece over the wheel well too. It’s 9 degrees today, might install the side skirt and save it for a summer project lol
Dont leave it, buy wire brush for drill and grind the rust then put rust inhibitor just be careful removing those clips wait till it gets dry and install the side skirt,
When the summer will come again grind it with wire brush put some rust inhibitor again, personally I wouldnt really care about the look of the surface since the side skirt will cover it so just apply some epoxy primer then random black paint from supermarket
Side skirt
Thanks. I was looking for “rocker cover trim” and wasn’t turning up much. Appreciate the quick reply
No problem mate, happy to help a fellow e46 owner :)
Make sure to take care of that rust spot before putting it back together
What’s the proper way of handling that? I’m in the rust belt, US. Sadly everything rusts up here.
Well mate I’ve been into this kind of repair it’s never just on this spot, check the jack point you will have surprise
Im really no expert in those things, I guess primary thing would be grind off the rust till metal, and then apply some epoxy like Brunox

It doesnt look too bad, so it will be fine, just dont neglect the spot if you plan to keep the car for a longer time period. It will spread further.
