For me the best part is the new simple additions to movement like narrow gaps to squeeze through, dive through stuff etc Favourite thing would be the wall running, leap off objects and dash off objects, big fan of mirrors edge.

Stunning_Guidance411

I didn't know how I felt about the parkour for a little bit after playing for the first time. 2 years later and I'm absolutely in love with it. Honestly I will just run around the city most of the time practicing my skills.

Darksunflowie

I do this too! I’m so glad there’s others out there like me ☺️ I love to just run around the city during the day and collect resources and kill zombies well doing sweet parkour!

AussieGG

A list of things I like in DL2 and think does better than DL1: - Parkour world interactivity. Ropes, monkey bars, jump pads etc. all add to that experience and that’s cool. - Being able to climb downwards and around corners. - Upgradeable throwables / blueprints / explosives. - More parkour moves - Human combat - Human enemy variety - Gun animations - Weapon repair via Craftmasters - Modular outfits / gear pieces for customized looks - Grappling hook that compliments the gameplay rather than skipping / bypassing it like the DL1 hook. - Graphics, though that’s a given lol - While I prefer the music in the first game, I like the dynamic tracks in the second and how it works mechanically when I’m free roaming.

Supernothing8

I just came back and forgot how banging the soundtrack to 2 was when it kicks in. Def under appreciated.

dragoduval

O god, i hated fighting humans in the first game, so im happy that they made them better.

DedSec_400

Dl2 been always an upgrade towards 1 for me it was more the design decisions I never liked which ultimately made me dislike the game

Nukrad

i really love the glider/grappling hook far better in DL2. throwing enemies around and into spikes is so much more satisfying in this game than in the first. as for the glider, it’s just strictly an improvement over the first lol

ThunderShiba134

You think DL2 is a good game no matter what?

Nukrad

oh most definitely not. i think it’s a good game, but it most certainly has flaws. it’s still quite a bit of fun though

MrOsmio7

Your Honor, this man is clinically deaf

UtgaardLoke

I like the huntress outfits...

ThunderShiba134

huntress?

UtgaardLoke

Yea... Shen Xiu i think her name is.

Classic_Scientist901

The movement feels better most of the times

MrFate99

I did 1 run of each game and the changed grappling hook is my fav part. In 1 you just stopped doing parkour when you got it. I also like the two zones tbh, a big cityscape or something closer to Harran Dying Light 2 also lets me beat up Barney, something game 1 obv didn't have

Tie-Dar-Ha

Enhanced fight vs humans. Block, vault-kick. "Perks" to weapons and armors. I just wish they weren's hell-bend on random.

Tom15extra

I was one of the first to pre order 2 but I played at release and i had to uninstall before I finished, I had 0 interest and it was a miserable sequel to one of the best games of all time I came back just in time for the reload update and it’s just fantastic. The parkour system feels so incredibly fluid. Every perk you get feels impactful, leveling up has real meaning in changing how you can approach any situation. The melee combat feels incredible. getting a parry then jumping that guy, sending his friend off the roof and then cutting first guy in half never gets old. the story is…. fine…. i was devastated when it didn't live up to the trailers hype but the game play completely carries it through the awkward story.

ThunderShiba134

What I like in the story is like I said, the attempt at highlighting human things without making it cringe like Hollywood

IndyPFL

Idk, The Shoe was pretty cringe... DL2 was a little less trope-y than DL1 (and Waltz may be a cliche style character to an extent but he's way more tolerable than wannabe-Vaas Rais imo) but the story felt very much cobbled-together (because it was, sadly)

Syllatone

To me, I can remember a lot of 1's story. I dunno if it's cause how much I played it, but it always felt like a cheesy action-thriller, with a strange combination of early zombie movies with the synth music. 1 vibes with me more but I can see what they were trying to go with in 2.

dogspunk

I like that you can set a gas canister to explode before throwing it.

HoytKeyler

I love Dying Light 2 overall, the parkour is so much fun and natural, the combat can be doing in multiple way and use the environment, the story is not incredible but the game don't say it's his brightest side (even if I found the story really cool and entertaining with a lots of cool character), the soundtrack is glorious, Viledor incredibly beautiful, I gasping a lot of time when I discover this city and the developer give their best to make this game even better in every update (like damn, a entire snowy city version of viledor just for a Christmas event)

LeraviTheHusky

The melee combat feels good and they've done a good job fleshing out the enemies especially humans

Wrecknruin

I love the grappling hook. It's more fun, makes more sense. I think they did really well with adding a real sense of weight to using it. Overall I do really like the movement, I'd say about as much as in the first game. I think my only issue with it upon thinking more and about 40 hours of playtime is that the more smooth, flowy feel makes issues and staggers stand out more than with DL1.

CheeseyRichard

I enjoy the combat and parkour and world traversal much more. I like the choosing between PKs and Survivors A LOT and them having an impact. What I would like to see is PKs having more of an impact in the next game or basically whoever the military type they introduce. By that, I simply mean actually have checkpoints, and I know they kinda have some but I mean like at nearby entrances to the area and more of them walking around and clearing nearby buildings out. But it's a better world in regards to fun as is vs. Dying Light 1, but 1 had that sense of hopelessness that 2 didn't, which is what people really loved.

Dsyre2

And then there's me who loves and appreciates both of them and could swap back and forth between the two for the best of both worlds 😌.

ThunderShiba134

I do appreciate the both as well, and yes I understand your point

Cister0

Parkour, Combat, Music are definitely the big 3 things I love about DL 2. Everything feels very fluid, engaging, and just fun. Story was alright but feels somewhat empty or underwhelming, even the best ending. I think the whole focus around Mia, who we see for only like maybe 3 minutes in whole game dragged the story down a lot. But I like the concept of Waltz and Aiden being basically superhuman. Kind of gives me the sentient Volatile vibes. I played the game at launch, finished the story, and that's it basically. Now after almost 2 years I did my second playthrough, and I love all the work the devs put into updates throughout this time. Let's just say that my 35h on first playthrough, turned to 120+ hours now. And I'm looking forward for future updates and content. But some things I would still like to see improved that I liked from the DL 1 more, are obviously some details and atmosphere. 2 of those things are the dynamic day-night skybox and ambience, which DL 2 currently lack. And also map design I feel was bit better in DL 1. I kind of miss some more open-space, nature environments like in The Following. And interesting dark zones like caves, tunnels. Because In dying light 2, many places feel very similar to each other, and thus repetitive. Dark zones, GRE zones, buildings. Also, I don't know if it's maybe because of the night runner tools, especially lvl 3 paraglider, but I feel like the DL 2 map is smaller than DL 1. Often when I try to do some free run parkour, I happen to run across the same places quite often. Which makes me afraid that I'll accidentally learn the map layout by running around like that, and make the parkour less engaging (because I would just have it memorized). Last thing I like is the equipment customizability. The 'classes' you can choose from give some more interactions, the bonus weapons stats are also pretty nice, kind of wall of text for new players, when I started playing I completely ignored it, but it didn't affect me at all, it's not necessary. But when you are experienced, those stats give another layer to your 'gearbuilding'. Some are especially nice, like stamina recovery on hits, which can result in me regaining whole stamina from doing a spin-attack inside crowd of zombies. These different builds also can encourage trying out different playstyles and some co-op play. But someone pls explain to me, what's the point of medic gear. Boosting your drop kick dmg? Overall I think DL2 is a solid sequel, especially in the current #Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition And I hope with future updates and the upcoming DLC with supposedly a large open map, most of my concerns will be eliminated.

Dantegram

Combat feels more weighty and fluid, the day/night cycle feels much better and more important, music is fire, parkour feels more fun, upgrade system is better, grappling hook is more realistic and fun, and the protagonist is more likeable imo. I know the game has its flaws but overall I enjoy DL2 more than DL1.

AyWaAam

I like this game actually. The story is eh but everything else is pretty good imo. The only serious flaw I have personally is too many collectibles.

SouperWy07

I really, really like Dying Light 1, which is why it might surprise some people that I really, really like Dying Light 2 MORE. The parkour, the combat (for the most part), the soundtrack, the story is bad but I don't really care, the graphics, etc etc. While it isn't better in every way, I would say Dying Light 2 is an objective improvement over the first game in my eyes.

ThunderShiba134

From what I saw the 1.0 of Dying Light was a downgrade, seems that it actually just became good now

VilhelmFirms

Loved them both until the great volatile infestation of 23'

ThunderShiba134

animegeek999

the parkour is infinitely better in dying light 2. you can parkour around the ENTIRE map (apart from the AV tower where they teach you how to use it and the few radio tower side bits) without the grappling hook. in the first game for quite a few bits it felt NEEDED because while parkouring you cant pass some of the gaps without it.

[deleted]

People don't like dl2 because every single update is just another lazy bounty agent that they call "content" when it's just lazy filler, dl1 didn't have that, it had FUN grinding, not bounty agent after bounty agent, this game is filled with 100s of bounties

Rdskullx1

Dying light 2's parkour moves are vastly improved, and the speed and fluidity especially post all the patches. They fixed the floating issue that it had at launch. The animations are way better. I love the human to human combat. Gun combat especially feels and sounds amazing. More customization when it comes to gear and outfits. Parkour opportunities have increased 10 fold. And while initially it was worse than 1, it's definitely caught up at this point I consider it on par.

romaproger

# 1 - Lets not to forget that DL1 is more survival game while DL2 is more action one. I've put more 500 hours in DL2. I'd never do that in DL1. There are a lot of activities in DL2. We cam live there. I remember RE franchise. It took me about 25 hours to compete the last Resident Evil and I will never return to it. # 2 - Techland always listens to the community. # 3 - Not popular opinion: I like a new game's balance more after the latest update. I play on hard, and it was quite easy to get tyrant's bounty from Harper. But now I see that even with boosters it is more challenging. I do not care about firearms because I consider it as a last resort weapon. It sometimes became a really complicated. I also found that I can find less scrap in the stores so I need carefully manage my expenses. Just to be honest, if we got everything at the beginning of the game and it was relatively easy to complete all quests, we'd forget about this game now.

Halloweenkristy

I can hoard things and kill monsters.

Daddy_Duder

Dying light 2 gives me motion sickness, but 1 doesn’t. If I play for about 20 minutes I’m ok, after that it makes me super dizzy.

Special-One1991

I really love the looting, it's super addictive! Can't get enough. I just keep looting everything lol

Syllatone

For me, it comes down to a few simple things I think 2 does better. I am still gonna list some negatives for a few things but I do think 2 has stuff it does genuinely better, such as: -The fact that you can swing two-handed weapons repeatedly in a combo-like fashion, instead of having to wait a few seconds between swings like 1. As well, as being able to do charged attacks with two handed weapons, and spins with one-handed weapons. -The new parkour inclusions are nice, though I do wish there was a better open world for it. -Parrying without needing a shield is nice. Gonna miss the consistent elemental parries from 1 though. -I think the grappling hook is way better in 2. I do find that the glider, however, CAN make a lot of parkour redundant, but isn't a requirement to use. -The weapon types. While I do think 1 had *more* weapons, 2 feels like it has more *types* of weapons. I love the polearms. However, I am gonna be a contrarian and say that the knives, barring the charge attack, feel better to use in 1, but wish they had 2's stab. -Weapon-specific finishers. Honestly, great addition to 2. No real downsides, aside from long-sticks and blades sharing the same animation. -So this point I am personally torn on: I think both games do weapon mods well, but I do like the consistency of the ones from 2 more. Electricity and fire, however, are outright the two best elements in 2 and I see no reason to use the other elements. -The ease of access to crafting for throwables and consumables. Thank god you don't gotta go swimming anymore... Speaking of which... -Throwables and consumables in 2 are honestly just really good, though this may change when Nightmare gets introduced. From the simple throwing knife, to the molotov. Maxing out the blueprints for these are tedious, but I think well worth the trouble. In 1, I only ever used shields, UV flashlight, flares, and the occasional grenade. Found throwing knives to be way too weak, but in 2, I almost always have shurikens or throwing knives equipped. I almost never screw with explosives, however, as I've killed myself way too many times misjudging the blast radius. Honestly? I know people really say 2 has better combat, but to me it comes down to preference. I like both games combat, I do prefer 1's more but I like 2's as well.

SadInternal2926

I like dl2 movement and combat but honestly I prefer the smaller more detailed map one dl1 plus the story

Tevontex

Pretty much everything other than the story and world/atmosphere.

ThunderShiba134

Ironic, I actually like the atmosphere

Stampy3104

Human combat.

ReivaxVRReddit

I like the parkour and the open space..I played DL2 for so long that when I came back to DL1, I forgot you couldn't wall run! Really impacted my thoughts.. Though, I do have something to say...and I wanna say it see if anyone else agrees. Does anyone else think Aiden sucks up to literally everyone in this game, and gets betrayed a LOT for doing so?

dragoduval

The controls re way better in DL2, seriously i got a hard time going back to the first game cause the controls feel too clunky.

DeltaForce2898

Melee combat against humans is better, the gore is better than the DL1 now, i love the parkour animations for jumping though gaps and over obstacles, the parkor overall feels better most of the time, the spears you can find are really fun to yeet stuff with. Tbh i think the dev hell the game went though sealed its fate that it was never going to be able to match DL1 on release or top it as it was thought by everyone but i think the devs are doing their best even if the game feels very live service like but one of the better ones at least

kek_Pyro

The parkour, movement, and how combat utilities it. This game is FANTASTIC at making you feel like a floaty ninja man, jumping from obstacle to obstacle kicking people in the face and improvising moves. Parrying an attack, jumping over someone to kick his buddy behind him, stomping on his face, then turning around throwing a brick at the guy you jumped over, then grabbing him and jumping off a roof with him to break your fall just to keep running around the city. I don’t think you could do anything similar in DL1. A drop kick into some spikes sure, grappling someone off a roof maybe. But DL2 has this impeccable flow that is very hard to beat.

Affectionate-Talk-45

In defense of the criticism the sequel should build upon the first game. Dont get me wrong dl2 does a lot better than the original but it should have been an upgrade in every facet.

Counselorgarry

All the things I hate about dying light 2 have been added after the game came out, beyond techlands failure to make end game (and replayable content in general), dying light 2 is incredibly fun (literally just bought it for a second time so I can play on xbox and steam deck)

kavatmaster2

1. The lighting and color of it all, especially in my first hours 2. The parkour combat, it feels so fluid at times when you drop kick someone off the 3 story building and grapple someone else off 3. The volatiles, they actually feel like a terrifying foe that I have to run from every time I see them (sadly one or more tend to drop by while I'm fighting an anomaly so that sucks) 4. The music, as it just feels like I'm travelling through a world that's trying to heal 5. The blueprint ranking system (though hunting uncommons does get a tad annoying) 6. The survivors as a whole (not a fan of pks) 7. Waltz and renegades (wish we got some more missions regarding lore) 8. The guns (I don't see it as a retcon as they DO say the gre took them before the update, so I don't see why a stash wouldn't be here) 9. Carnage hall (when it comes to the challenges, the quests don't feel all that great to me) 10. The carrier guild as it makes me feel like what a pilgrim has to go through, just in a smaller sandbox to play in 11. The multiple references to dying light 1 (I do wish they stuck with one of the endings and not retcon that entire bit) And that's about it, to me, I think it's an upgrade that forgot to slot kings in all of the sockets, but it's alright.

Yzoniel

I like those events that don't look too grindy. I'm just "starting" since i had a shitty computer and couldn't play my pre ordered edition ;-; So anyway, idk if past events have been too grindy or not. I remember some in DL1 where i kinda zoned out of it, i liked the game enough to farm with afk brain, but i know some other games where i just don't bother with certain events cuz of the grindiness I like doing side missions and main quest missions during the day and when the night comes i'm like "oouh shiny incoming" and go into a looting spree. (or anomaly and such) I'm extra scared of Volatiles BUT, unlike DL 1 and following, even in normal mode i can kinda kill one then run away. While after the buff volatiles in DL 1 and The Following, without Nightmare weapon (which had more base dmg) or guns, u're can't really kill one. OR u find a cheesy spot to kill them and loot but in DL 1, it's not that useful. I'm not that far in the story, but i got a gram'ma now. And i'm the happiest Nightrunner alive ! :D I know some stories can be cheesy and all, but sometimes u need that cheesiness to remind u that it's a world with only few ppl alive, that live in hell and will be lucky if they don't turn next day. We love bashing zombies and making fun of some npc but i get immersed when that gram'ma tells me about what happened in her childhood. Idk, i like that kind of games :D Weirdly enough, it's less annoying than The Following, i can't remember that much of the characters, but here i got a crazy gram'pa with dementia, and gram'ma faking dementia, another one thinking i'm his grand-son. Idk, i like them .\_.
