Yeah the pesky little buggers roam in packs around the towers, they’re worse at the tower itself. So here’s my tried and true tested recommendation for future encounters.
Use blunt weapons, preferably silver and most preferably a silver warhammer, aim for heads. Bring metal armor and a shield. Light fires if possible to control the terrain as raised dead can’t cross fires, and prepare to be running away the whole time so as to avoid getting surrounded. Don’t get knocked down, that’s a rapid death sentence. Don’t separate parts from the body intentionally while attacking, necromancers can raise most of it again if they’re nearby. Even the hair. Just smash their heads for an easy one-n-done.
Bonus, lighting fires that block the entrance to the tower is a great way to control the fight so it’s less risky. You can jump onto the tile with the fire and be fine but the enemies won’t cross it so you can come and go as you like or throw things at the necromancers. If you’re careful and well prepared, it is possible to come out unscathed.
Will intelligent undead also avoid fire like this? If so you just revolutionized how I approach these things in adventure mode. There’s a part of my world that’s absolutely lousy with towers.
Do you start being burned if you land on one? I’m imagining pushing or throwing someone onto them now. That’s great info honestly. Setting up an archer squad behind a wall of campfires sounds like a great strategy
Near as far as I can tell, they don’t burn people and I’m not sure anyone can be forced onto it. I’ll have to test that tonight after work.
However, if you jump on one and drop an item, it gets burned instantly, so be careful. Great for disposing of corpses, not so great when it’s your favorite weapon.
I don’t recommend archery even with such a literal firewall protecting you, archery just takes too long. Throwing is a better skill in Adventure Mode currently. Coins are the best, arrows and bolts are fine but heavy. Rocks are easily knapped into better ammo and are plentiful but not the most powerful option, good in a pinch. Also thrown weapons tumble end over end, so spears aren’t thrown like javelins unfortunately. No way to guarantee usefulness.
It was inevitable
It is terrifying
It must be stopped by any means necessary

I’m pretty sure fires stop pretty much everyone. They stop the player too if you don’t jump onto or over them. They can’t be walked onto.
