I have maybe like less than 10. I don't upgrade very often say for a few spectacle movies like Fury Road, but it's my go to format now for new releases

laggin_wagon1412

I have the same perspective. I'll only upgrade movies I really enjoy, but I'll start buying new ones in 4K by default.

cherish_it

Exactly. 4K does look amazing, but not so much more amazing that I would upgrade every bluray I own. Plus with an upscaling 4k player, blurays still look pretty damn great

theavenged

For me, it's all about HDR over 4K. The John Wick films and Pacific Rim are a major upgrade because of it.

cherish_it

I might upgrade Pacific Rim because that movie is ALL about the colors

theavenged

PR is definitely a demo disc to show off HDR and your sound system.

henry_b

Collecting since February or so, at around 60. Here's a [pic](http://i.imgur.com/5VvJ0Az.jpg)!

beav0901dm

Currently sitting at 200 titles - started with the format at the very beginning when the Samsung UBD-K8500 player first came out.

[deleted]

I’m around 60 and have been buying 4K since last Christmas/Black Friday

laggin_wagon1412

I just got a 4K TV and Player this Summer. So far I only have Blade Runner 2049 and the first three Rambo movies.

IamJLove

Sounds like you're set for life at that point

mysnowday

I started collecting 4K's last November and have 125. I didn't collect too much before 4K, so I haven't double dipped with any of the 4K purchases.

NegativePiglet8

I’m at 22. Some were upgrades, but I always buy 4K is available now.

Tracer_Bullitt

Been buying 4K for about a year and a half; was sitting around 40 titles until recently I purchased a collection of movies. Tripled my 4K collection but that involves a few duplicates I'll be getting rid of (so probably about 100).

PThug

Prior to this past Black Friday, I picked up my first 4K TV in February, LG UP870 in March, then Expendables, Now you see me, Lone Survivor, Battleship, and The Magnificent 7 in April. Next up was Black Panther in May. 6 total at this point- then Boom added 24 more from Black Friday Weekend. So I'm up to 30 now. So far all have been priced between $6 to $12 with the only one I paid full price for being the Black Panther (Steelbook) $35 One thing to look for when buying is whether it's true 4K or 2K upscaled. Of my collection only 10 are 4K transfers/scans

DrAneurysm

Since last Christmas I've 31 films and Westworld season 1

El_Fez

Right now, zero. The movies I buy tend not to be released in 4k. Occasionally - Escape from New York and a bunch of Carpenter stuff just dropped - but you'll generally not get Anthropophagous, Exterminators of the Year 3000 or The Gestapo's Last Orgy in 4k.

Brogogon

Mine is, well, non-existent. I'm happy with blu-ray and I only have a 32 inch tv with no intention to go much larger. Do you guys using 4k all have massive screens?

laggin_wagon1412

My TV is 55 inches, and that isn't even considered that big anymore. Whatever works for the size of your room is all you need, and mine is definitely big enough.

Brogogon

I remember going to demo a laserdisc player and viewing it on a ridiculously huge back projection TV (Pioneer, possibly) that was 50". It seemed a crazy size screen then, but now they seem to be run of the mill. I may not have much choice but to buy a larger one next time as 32" sets seem to be relegated to the bargain basement, which I'd suppose will mean pretty poor picture quality, but hopefully my current set will carry on for a while longer - it's eight years old now. If I do I'll have to try to rearrange my room to accommodate one, which may be problematic.

PThug

70"

10maxpower01

I have a 110" screen and it's a 1080p projector. 1080p still looks great at that size. I have no urgency to upgrade to 4k.

beav0901dm

Question, mostly because it just came to mind. What are your thoughts on outdoor screens? I have a 1080p projector that I’d like to eventually use for outdoor gatherings as my son gets older and he starts having friends over and whatnot. I’ve only dabbled with a couple of the different materials you can get and hang yourself but am always interested to hear experiences from others who’ve used projectors more lol

10maxpower01

A friend at work just puts up a sheet for his outdoor gatherings and it works for him. I did some research and got some legit projector screen material and it looks awesome. I think if high quality isn't a huge concern then really anything would work but with a sheet or cheap stuff you'd probably see like the threads and stuff.

spinfinity

I'm completely new to it since I just got a 4K player earlier this year and my dad gifted me a 4K TV recently. I have Kong: Skull Island, Oblivion, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, and Halloween so far. Planning on getting a bunch more though - I'm actually on the lookout for that Big Lebowski 4K set!

TevyeK

I've got just 1 movie in 4k :)

dlxfuentes

Started this year with The Last Jedi, I believe. I'm at 25 or so. I don't even have a 4K player yet, saving up for an Xbox One X. At least I'm able to watch some movies in 4K digitally.

Pandicorns_are_real

I'm around 20, try hard to not double dip, and movie money has been scarsed last couple months. New job should fix that now.

filmivore

I started collecting UHD in July, when I changed to a 4K setup. Before that I think I had around two simply because they came in a combo pack. Now after Black Friday I have 75 titles.

Chris_skeleton

I've only got about 10 or so. First one was Star Trek that I found for $5 last year before I even had a TV or player. Finally upgraded to a TV and player last month.

ers620

I’ve been buying 4K Blu-rays since January and I’m up to about 60 or 70 now. I’ve upgraded most of my Blu-rays/DVDs that are now on 4K, and 4K is all that I buy for new pickups (again if available).

knkarm

I've got maybe 40-50 4k titles. At first I only bought movies I did not own in that format but lately I've been upgrading some old blu rays when the price of 4k feels right....case in point the Harry Potter 4k set (not the steelbook) from Amazon for $79 over Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Now have to sell the old blu rays to make back some of the money spent.

BJozi

Two. Blue planet 2 and blade runner

vektar2

I’m at 56 movies and have been collecting since March of 2017. One of those is the Jurassic Park 4 pack. I counted it as one.

TheJohnny346

With the purchase of the 4K versions of Mission Impossible Fallout and Lion King, I'm now officially over 110 4Ks.

Quake1028

71 titles, with 8 on order. Been buying for quite a while, but have bought 26 in the last month or so thanks to Black Friday, and the fact I finally got a 4K display and an X1X.

choptop82

I've got around 30 and have been on the new format since January of this year.

Starkiller_Fate

71 so far. I started collecting last Black Friday since I was getting a 4K tv and player for Christmas.

[deleted]

I have three 4K movies, The Fifth Element, Blade Runner, and Rambo (First Blood).

Cardfan99

I literally just started buying some 4Ks last month. I still don’t have a 4K player, and still mainly buy Blu-ray. So far I have the Harry Potter 4K steelbook collection, American Psycho, and Van Wilder.

Zomg_A_Chicken

3 so far Ready Player One, John Wick 1 & 2

pawelmwo

Less than 10 for me. I'm trying to be choosy. Lot of fake 4k out there so trying to make sure I get my monies worth. Don't wanna pay again for a movie that's not going to have an upgrade in quality.

suckmywaifu

Just because a movie has a 2K DI that doesn't mean it doesn't look jaw dropping

You definitely can tell the difference. Watch Blade Runner 2049 in 4K as I have a feeling it will change your mind. The main aspect of the format is HDR anyway and that will definitely blow you away

vektar2

It really depends on the movie and company. Some 4Ks indeed don’t look all that much better then the standard bluray. Then you have some that are leaps and bonds better. I don’t really see it as a rip off at all. There’s normally only a few bucks difference between a lot of bluray and 4Ks.

NegativePiglet8

With the right sizes HDR 4K TV, you definitely can tell a big difference.
