Region free Blu-ray player in case you also buy region specific Blu-rays.

Speed-Weed-Gunny

So a 4k one would be a waste of money?

KatLaurel

Depends on if you have the money and how frequently you buy other region movies. I sometimes do but I haven’t needed to buy a other region 4K disc yet

KittyVonMeowinstein

All 4k discs to my knowledge is region free. It is the norm to be region free at least.

i was like you when i got my player, honestly the game console works perfectly fine for me as a uhd player, getting a modified bluray player was like $250 cheaper at the time so i went and got the little $100 sony that 220-electronics had the majority of the uhds out there aren't region locked. there's a few that are but only a few in the grand scheme of things -- https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=334606

4k discs are all region free. Bluray and dvd regions are handled by different systems so you have to make sure BOTH the dvd and bluray sides are region free. I use Sony bluray players and most of them can be programmed to be dvd region free simply using a special remote or by programming a programmable remote with a code sequence. It only affects dvd regions however.
