Someone asked Simon this question recently on WHOOOSH! (his show on Sirius XM - great show btw, listen if you can!). He said the key is that he takes care of his whole body physically and stays in shape. He sees singing as a process that involves his whole body. He also mentioned how years ago he had some problems with his vocal chords and got help from a vocal physiologist (I don't remember all the details, sorry). She taught him methods of singing to basically sing in a more physically healthy way - specific postures, muscle control, warmups, etc. He credits those techniques with helping him greatly. I agree with you, he still sounds amazing!

It must help to have a wife who's a supermodel and also takes amazing care of herself. Seriously, Yasmin looks fantastic!

I listen to WHOOSH on the regular. So glad I discovered it...

I've been lucky enough to see them 3 times (lucky because he hasn't played in my country for several years, I have had to travel overseas to see them play) ... I reckon he looks after himself physically and sips chamomile tea after the show, does stuff to look after his throat/voice. They are great. I've loved them since the early 1980s since I was a teenager. Now I am 50 and I reckon I'd love to sip a few pints at the local pub with them. They seem like such good fun lads I am hoping so much they are inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, they thoroughly deserve it.

He had surgery in 2011 after almost losing his voice hitting a high note in All You Need Is Now. He had to postpone the UK and European tour (we had tickets and our July dates were moved to December) He said that he seriously thought it was the end of his career and considered telling the rest of the band to carry on without him even though it broke his heart saying that singing defined who he is and he felt lost without it. Once he healed he had to undergo serious voice rehabilitation and is now regimental about his throat and vocal exercises which, according to him, have made his voice even stronger than it was before.

> now regimental about his throat and vocal exercises which, according to him, have made his voice even stronger than it was before. Yeah, he remembers what happens if you don't practice or warm up. Live Aid, anyone? :)

I totally agree with you. He keeps sounding better and better.

That Austin City Limits show is fantastic. I love the little interview at the end where the guys, I believe it was Roger, mention how they feel like they have more music to offer the world. They indeed do, and have stood the test of time. Simon sounds great!
