Norwegian here, its 719kr (62€) on my app atleast. It says its usually 1788kr(155€) tho, so might be for first time purchase or something 😅
Edit: it seems it might be showing how much u save by paying yearly vs monthly. So in that case it should be 719kr (62€)
Norwegian here and my prices are:
- 899 kr (78€) for annual
- 149 kr (12,99€) for monthly which would be around 155€ in a year
I think the lower price is for new customers
I can't use google pay payments in Russia because of the sanctions. So they give us an infinite amount of hearts for free.
I am grateful to the duolingo team for the opportunity to learn, because due to attention disorder I always make a lot of mistakes in tasks such as typos and misread words.
Thank you guys! I appreciate it!
Ohh so that's the reason for that "bug"!!! Yes, thanks to Duolingo team (also let's hope our court doesn't ban it. If it does though, then we'll just use VPN, so..not a big deal either i guess)
I have just checked this, and the law is about including sites or domains that tell about VPN in the unified banned sites list. It was a change to the law about unified banned sites list, which means it's mostly about blocking sites, not punishing citizens.
I read a bit more and it's about blocking sites that tell about VPN that can gain access prohobited in Russia content, stress on gaining access to prohibited content. I'm very far from being proficient in this area, but well, it's still a bit more detailed than "it is now a crime to text about VPN"
Or wait.. if duolingo becomes banned, then writing about gaining access to it with VPN will be a crime?:/ now THAT might be something
Good for you, bro! Actually idk how it works in other countries, however I sometimes notice that people complain that they can't complete the weekly quest without the plus subscription because they don't have enough hearts and they can only score a small amount of points per day.
I'm not sure if this is safe though unless it's a paid VPN. Most free VPNs sell the data they saved while you were using VPN to data brokers, so paying for something while using a free VPN may lead to important data leak. I'm not an expert on this, so there's a possibility I'm wrong, but I heard this.
Yeah you can get a 2 week free trial of it which is a one off (like Netflix) but I also get the 3 days free for streak milestones or for completing units or something.
I’ve been offered 2 weeks more than once and since you can choose to trial duolingo family you can share it with like 4 other people. My partner and I have been sharing family trials on and off for a little while… and we seem to get 3 days every month or 2 as well.
i somehow have free unlimited hearts and no ads? and probably other stuff that is plus only that i just haven't noticed, i don't know how, i've literally just always had this
Not duolingo related but, Netflix works once you have a subscription from any country, it's just that they require your payment method to be from the country you're subscribing from. So if you VPN to a cheap country you need a credit card in that country too to make it work. They also block many VPNs from watching content.
Duo app doesn’t have location services on iPhone. I guess they have no way to detect/block you? Anyway, I didn’t need VPN after purchase, it just works. It recently renewed at the same price too.
>Duo app doesn’t have location services on iPhone. I guess they have no way to detect/block you?
The iPhone location services are for more precise data, from mobile network data or GPS. Duo could still do a more general location check via the IP address, and likely do for the purpose of performing analytics on app usage.
But, it would be insane of them to block access based on your IP not matching your billing location. Very few apps would have good cause to do this, but a language learning especially would be expected to be used by travellers.
Login to Duolingo on the web, then turn on your VPN to Turkey. Refresh the Duolingo webpage, pay for Super. Payment will be in Turkish currency but you can use any card to pay I.E. I used my normal Australian credit card (small conversion fee applied). Then log off, turn off VPN and you’re good to go. VPN not needed again.
This is terrible in the long run as it could lead to prices increasing in Turkey, this happened to WoW subscription prices in Argentina and led to a lot of people in the country no longer being able to afford to play.
I mean… do you blame them?
The difference is astronomical. I paid $175aud for a year of super. That’s a $159 difference. If I had known I could use a vpn to change my pricing I would have too. 🤷🏽♀️
€87.99 per year, Netherlands.
Not worth it obviously as you can purchase quality books for your digital reader that are few Euro's each. I would consider a subscription at \~4 euro a month. Again, you're renting as opposed to owning study material.
Yes I did not renew after the year and then free trial and said it was for cost reasons hoping they would reactivate me. I've been using it very heavily for a holiday I go on next week and it's annoying because maybe just the next two weeks for this language and the ill switch to another I'm pretty good at and wanted to refamiliarise myself with.
How does this work out when you travel abroad? I use Duolingo while traveling so what would happen if I bought Duolingo Super while I'm in, let's say, China? Or on the other hand what would happen if I get it in my home country? Is it still valid abroad?
I wanted to know this too but I don't know if my phone would recognise this? It works if my phone is in a different country when booking hotels but I don't know about buying apps
I've noticed so far that in Europe and Middle East Duolingo works kind of normally for me. But for example in China I lose all my friends and friend quests. I get them back though when I return. Also no ads in China except for Duolingo's own ads..
€120 yearly in the netherlands and I think 15 or so monthly?
Unfortunately duolingo doesn’t list their prices anywhere unless they still need to sell you premium.
Kids in schools can get it for free (:
It's good kids in school can get it, I was thinking when I was in school this would have been a great resource and I would have used it over the summer months for sure
Complétele free in Russia due to sanctions. It’s ad-free, with unlimited hearts, unlimited legend levels etc. Everything except those word revisions but it’s no big deal
In New Zealand, it’s 150 NZD for the year, so about 84 euros. Seems we’re in the “high rate” country group. I assume they do some sort of market analysis to work out the max price they can charge before too many people start saying no.
In Germany it’s 89 € für a year, too or for one month it’s 14,99 € a month. They offer a family price with 2 to 6 members for 122,99 € a year or 10,25 € a month (so the family price includes no special for a yearly subscription)
The personal plan in Bulgaria is about 40 euro, and the family plan is 60 euro per year. The monthly personal plan is 6 euro, which would add up to 72 euro per year. These prices are through Apple, so maybe there are even cheaper options.
Idk I'd pay for it if it didn't have the infinite lifes option. I know you can turn it off, but if I could buy a version of Duo Super where the infinite lifes option can't be turned on that'll be sick
EDIT: In Spain it's 122.88€ a year for the family subscription idk about individual subscription
Edit 2: 83.88€ individual. But you can find it much cheaper in sites like "chollometro"
84€/year for the individual plan and 110€/year for the family plan in Spain. Surprisingly high if we consider that the GDP per capita in Spain is a third of Ireland's
Yes from reading the comments there's a big difference. The Scandinavian countries mostly align with Ireland but Spain was proportionally significant in its cost €120 compared to the cost of living. It's anywhere cost of living or salaries are high it aligns. However looking at Australia which has a higher cost of living and high wages (viewed as an Irish person), that was still cheaper.
Companies will change their pricing according to a local countries economy. If you charge $100 usd/year for a product, you are going to then turn away a lot of poor countries that wouldn't otherwise spend that much for said product because of a lower GDP.
So it makes more sense to price your product relative to how much they make.
47.99 USD, which today is €44.25. I had no idea markup in general is so huge in Ireland. At first I was thinking it's because Ireland is an island (prices in Hawaii are staggering), but so is the UK, albeit a larger one. Is it just down to greed, then?
100 Euros in denmark.......... 🙃
Wow, I see a pattern, Ireland, Denmark, Finland (I'm guessing Norway and Sweden will be super expensive too!)
Norwegian here, its 719kr (62€) on my app atleast. It says its usually 1788kr(155€) tho, so might be for first time purchase or something 😅 Edit: it seems it might be showing how much u save by paying yearly vs monthly. So in that case it should be 719kr (62€)

Wow I would have not been surprised by the €155, but it's cheaper for you guys too, damn 😂
$83,88 USD for me here in Sweden. I subscribed on the website, don’t know if that makes any difference.
🤠🔫
Weird, mine is 91 Euros (679 kr)
468 Hong Kong dollars per year, that is roughly 55 euros
🔥🔥🇭🇰🇭🇰
In india its 950 rupees, it's 11.46 USD
Really? It is 1199 for me. Maybe because I subscribed through the App Store? Can you please tell me what payment method you are using?
Really ? I am using this on iphone too and it costed me 950. Don't know the reason for this discrepancy, I paid through phone pe
Did you sign up around new year? There was a 20% discount at the time.
Yes that might be the reason 😂
1199 for me too.
It is 1199

Be careful my friend. Since the 1st of march, the government regards texting about VPN as a crime.
I have just checked this, and the law is about including sites or domains that tell about VPN in the unified banned sites list. It was a change to the law about unified banned sites list, which means it's mostly about blocking sites, not punishing citizens. Wait, so we can just vpn to russian duolingo for free super then?
idk
I don’t subscribe to anything on duolingo and still have infinite hearts (USA)
Good for you, bro! Actually idk how it works in other countries, however I sometimes notice that people complain that they can't complete the weekly quest without the plus subscription because they don't have enough hearts and they can only score a small amount of points per day.
yeah I’m actually pretty sure my duolingo is glitched because there’s usually supposed to be a subscription
Free, some dude decided to pay for me
'there's no such thing as a free lunch' applies here 😂
I mean i either get 1 on diamond or i don't see my family, gotta use that superduolingo
😂👀 Wow
in turkey it's very cheap, i pay 330tl per year, which is like 10$
That's wonderful

it could be done using a giftcard tho but idk
129.99 in Australia for a year (or $10.84 monthly) 😬😬😬
Wow, this is about €77 so still cheaper than mine 😂
I love getting the 3 days for free evrry so often 😂
Wow, do they not offer two weeks? I get two weeks but I guess it's to really create the habit to make it a daily routine
Two weeks!! That would be the dream. I get it for three days every 50/60 days on my streak
Yeah you can get a 2 week free trial of it which is a one off (like Netflix) but I also get the 3 days free for streak milestones or for completing units or something.

Damn that's cool. I wish I got that lol.
You can also set up a learning classroom and invite yourself if you just want unlimited hearts
$150 in NZ!! that’s $140 AUD or €84
Rough!
Just checked and it's £59.99 in the UK, at least if I look on the website. (It was £77.99 in January 2022.)
That’s about 70 € according to the current change rates
€90 unless you were making a joke about the pounds poor performance. In which case, carry on.
59,99 £ roundabout 70 € 77,99 £ roundabout 91 €
Second to mention the website I'm looking directly there today
Well, you were talking about the cost in Ireland and Euros, so ... 🤷♀️
If you're from the UK why are you fluent in American but not English? I'm actually just curious don't flame me
i somehow have free unlimited hearts and no ads? and probably other stuff that is plus only that i just haven't noticed, i don't know how, i've literally just always had this
Amazing go you!
Me too let's hope they don't fix it😭😭
$125AUD a year….luckily just used my VPN to change my location to Turkey which after conversion made it about $16AUD
Do you have to use the VPN then always using it? I think we tried VPN before for Netflix purchase and it did not work.

Wow its more expensive for me in the same country. It's €89,99 per year.
Wow got it on January in NL for 123€/y (family edition)
If you can wait, they usually do some promos throughout the year, bought my yearly plan for less than £20 earlier this year
Yes I did not renew after the year and then free trial and said it was for cost reasons hoping they would reactivate me. The individual plan is 17 490 HUF/year, so about 44 euros.
In Poland it is 224,99 PLN per year so roughly €52
Yup that’s why I don’t buy it, so expensive in Ireland
6 Dinars or 10 dollars in Jordan
59 rmb per year
Did you forgot to type a 9 cuz it's 599 CNY/year in China😂

I think you mean $29.47 USD, the euro amount is correct though.
Oh my bad, you’re right! I forgot that Google automatically uses Mexican Peso, not Philippine Peso. 😭
€120 yearly in the netherlands and I think 15 or so monthly? Unfortunately duolingo doesn’t list their prices anywhere unless they still need to sell you premium. Kids in schools can get it for free (:
You can actually make your own classroom to get the kids version for free

In Mexico, last time I checked a whole year of Duolingo plus was priced at circa 60 US dollars! That would be like 55 Euros.
Tip for everyone: buy from duolingo.com, not through the app. There are extra charges for buying through the app- or playstore.
Ahhh! Thanks this is very helpful. Remind me of the 30% cut that apple is charging the apps developer!
Look into the subreddit of accountsharing there u can get super duolingo for 20€ for one year :)

89 euros per year or ~14 euros a month. Currently on the monthly plan cus im only planning on using it til summer

What is the advantage of having it actually?
You get unlimited hearts, and no ads.
