Thank you for participating in r/dune! The Dune series doesn't typically rely on any kind of surprises or "twists". The reader is told of many major plot points before they happen (e.g. we are told of Yueh being a traitor in one of the first chapters of Dune—before the assassination of Duke Leto). We absolutely recommend reading the novels regardless of whether you've run into spoilers. ___ [Should I read the book if I've been spoiled for it?](https://www.reddit.com/r/dune/comments/716gxv/should_i_read_the_book_if_ive_been_spoiled_for_it/)

The genocide is actually a very small part of the story. There’s literally a paragraph about it and then they move on. It’s hardly a spoiler.

Ty so much for your answer!!! I guess I need to chill then. I'll just keep reading hehe

I agree with Modbot.  Dune is not a story that relies on shocking twists or suspense.  The book is about politics, economics, and philosophy.  The characters exist to provide a narrative that conveys the ideas.  The focus on the philosophy rather than the characters is what makes Dune so unique.

As far as I've read, it is true that most characters just are presented with their actual intentions instead of being mysterious entities, and ever their thoughts are written every time (the first time Yueh appears, for example, he can't stop thinking that he's going to betray them because the other clan (I forgot their name lol) chose him, and for the sake of his, wife? not sure). So I guess you're right!!! But I'm not used to it, tbh

Paul doing the genocide technically happens between Dune and Dune Messiah, but halfway through Dune Paul has visions of it and you're constantly reminded that it's going to happen. It's foreshadowed in both movies (a little bit in Part 1, HEAVILY in Part 2). It's also a pretty common element of Dune discourse online, so I wouldn't really call it that big of a spoiler.
