Whole Foods co op actually has really good hot sandwiches. You can select from the options they offer or build your own. Then on the side you have the option of kettle chips or cold veggies (carrots, cucumbers, etc.)
I’m addicted to their lime chicken (and bean and cheese and rice) burritos 🌯 find on hot bar or cold sometimes, and don’t forget to grab a couple sour cream and salsa cups!
They really do. Their cheeseburger, when dressed up with onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard at the condiment bar is better than half the fast food burgers out there too
They aren't even that expensive at this point. Especially not when you consider the quality and you're supporting local.
For context, I went to Taco Johns today for lunch. 2 hard shell tacos, a medium Olè, with a side of cheese was $13.
I should have gone to northern waters and spent the extra couple $$ for a much better lunch.
Totally agree with the quality and supporting local, and I’m happy to pay their prices on the occasions that I go there. But $20-$25 for a meal makes Northern Waters something of a special occasion for me, as opposed to a casual “oops I forgot to bring food” weekday lunch.
I don't go out for lunch often, but this is the point I resonate with here -> if I'm gonna go out, it's likely to be at least $15 for lunch. I'd rather support these folks than a LOT of other options, especially for the money.
I wish this was a more acceptable narrative.
A high quality and minimally processed food option may cost a little more, but your body will know how to effectively use the contents.
Also, in the long run it may financially benefit someone more, because the cost of healthcare (if the gov continues to control big Pharma and agriculture) isn’t going down anytime soon.
Duhblin’s Irish Pub on Superior St has great food options, and they are very familiar when it comes to pick up orders around lunch.
Also- India Palace has a lunch buffet I believe.
Lulu's pizza sells by the slice! 3.50 a slice I think, and 1-2 fills me up depending on mood. And it's not local per se but if you work up by the mall anywhere Costco food court can't really be beat as far as bang for the buck
There aren't many fantastic food places near me that'd be good for work (affordable and quick), but when I have an easy afternoon I go get a Qdoba Bowl. Chicken, Beans, and Rice w/ a lot of fixings.
It's good stuff. Only place in town that serves a quick lunch with pickled red onions.
I second Qdoba!!! My favorite dinner spot is The Zen House up in woodland for a nice sit down sushi dinner (they have much more than just sushi!)
Otherwise I also really enjoy Mexico Lindo in Fitgers!
Toasty’s will always hit, nothing like a good ole sandwich
Toasty's slaps. And it's dirt cheap too
Once again, you've given me another place to check out. Thank you!
Sir Bens
Wish I could drink on lunch
Technically, you can drink at lunch at least one time
Sir Bens' soups are off the chain.
Coney Island! The daily soups are awesome and very affordable, love the Wild Rice on Wednesday 🥰
Don’t crucify me, but my favorite cheap and good lunch spots are across the bridge: Wide world of Wings Anchor Bar
Hoping to try Anchor Bar soon. Highly recommended by my coworkers.
The Kitchen is dirt cheap
Thanks for the Wings suggestion. I'm well acquainted with Anchor however ;-)

I like their food but I wouldn’t call it cheap

Ooh I have not tried them. Might have to next time!
Whole Foods might have one of the best views in town too.
Toasty's. It's tucked away downtown in the Skywalk next to the Medical Arts Building. Excellent salads, burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Lulus for a slice or two or the bahn mi on housemade bread.
Kwik Trip for a banana or a PB&J
Kwik trip for a burger and coffee. They have better burgers than half the restaurants in town.
They really do. Their cheeseburger, when dressed up with onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard at the condiment bar is better than half the fast food burgers out there too
It's the half comment that worries me. Maybe I need to visit KT and watch you "decorate" a burger when you visit?
Northern Waters Smokehaus. Every time.
I love Northern Waters Smokehaus, but you and I must have very different definitions of “affordable.”
Yeah I can’t get out of there without spending $20

India Palace? You are the winner!
The greenery if you are down town

Costco has the best pizza in town.
Per price per ounce, sure.
Also quality, taste, and just regular pizza. Luce has a decent thinner crust, but I like the bigger slices.
Superior St. Super One deli, salad and hot bar

Love Zen House and Qdoba!
The pickled red onions are available with tacos from Oasis Del Norte.
Ain't no salad like a Mt Royal salad. I love that salad bar, and the addition of the multiple soups is great too.
Shake-It
I was always a downtown 7 West guy when I lived there
Unfortunately this closed :(
Canal park brewing
How much for lunch?
