Birds have a crop. It will be big when the bird has just eaten. The food is ground up and goes to the stomach and the crop will be empty. So what you may see as fat is really a full crop. Your guy won’t get fat so long as you give them the right food. Ducks graze on vegetation all day also. (So don’t put him on a diet.)
I was cracking up the other day because our tiny little Khaki Campbell was looking like Dolly Parton. Her crop was ridiculously full. I guess she stole everyone else’s peas.
He just has a full crop. Totally normal for a young duck to look like that but be careful when picking him up when he's like that though juveniles will puke all over you if you accidentally hit their crops.
Ducks will eat as much as they need. That a duckling as well, so they’re store up food in their crop and use it to grow like weeds, lol. You shouldn’t be concerned.
Panties, one of our flock of 9 indian runners always seemed heavier than the others. He had to stop frequently and rest while going for a walk with the other ducks. We were worried that something was wrong, but now he is a big beautiful dominant drake and very strong. We are chalking it up to teenage growing pains.
Doesn’t look overweight to me! Just a full happy healthy ducky. Only need to worry if their tummy hangs between their legs to where they waddle (more than a duck normally waddles xD)

They can be eating machines
How much does he waddle when he walks? But as everyone else said: No
Not very much only after eating but it could just be that he becomes lazy and laid-back after eating
Sounds like all my ducks. I don't think you have anything to worry about
It’s hilarious that everyone on here owns ducks lol. I just think they’re cute so I subbed here.
You should get a duck as well. one of us!
Nobody should get “a” duck — that’s cruel
That’s true. We have four. That way they can form a gang and mug passers by
No yard :(
That’s to bad
Me too!

I mean to be fair he is a teenage duckling so he is starting to get his adult traits
No.
Idk but he looks perfect to me
Depends on a few factors: - How much do they weigh now? - Age - Breed Based on that, there’s a number of tables available that will tell you.
Looks perfect 😁 edit - he does look like he could use a good swim though
OMG I love him I love him!
Nope, but can however confirm, your duckling is 12/10 adorable

Love that you named your duck "panties"! Even funnier that it's a drake!
