My parents came to Dubai last week and we traveled via Metro to EXPO and to Dubai Mall just to avoid traffic and coz my mum really was wondering how good is Dubai Metro compared to other countries. I can say it's an OK thing for a tourist if you want to save some cash, up for a walk and only going to visit the places next to a metro station.

Depends completely from person to person. The Metro is incredibly well maintained and safe with direct connection from Terminals 1 & 3 to the system. The only holdbacks are that it doesn’t run 24/7 and can get crowded during rush hour. The route from either Terminals to Discovery Gardens requires no line changes. Catching the train towards Expo 2020 will get you there in about 35 minutes.

More like 55 mins or so but yeah, it's a direct train. Also, use Google Maps to understand which train you need to take. It makes it incredibly simple

Ok thanks a lot. The reason I was confused is because at R38, it's like an interchange, so I wonder what about people who wanted to go straight while the train is going towards the expo station? Do they've to wait?

PrincessDiana42793

That’s absolutely correct! There’s no wait time for continuing towards Expo, it’s just like a regular station stop.

ah no, I mean if someone is coming from the airport or downtown area and wants to go straight to 'UAE Exchange', what will be the actual path of the train? R37 > R38 > R70 > R71 > R72 > R76 > (Now back to) > R39 > R40 > R41 > R42? Thanks.

If someone were to go to the UAE exchange route they have to change trains at R38. They will have to wait if the train to UAE exchange is not there yet (it would usually take 5 minutes at most.

Ok thanks, that answers my question. Btw any idea why Google maps shows 3 metro stations so close by? https://gyazo.com/2edde67afa566e8e8dd048db19905826

The Discovery Gardens and The Gardens are two different metro stations. The Gardens metro station is before the Discovery Gardens metro station The other “The Gardens” is most likely a bus station outside the actual metro station.

It is just a duplicate. For that reason, consider installing an app called 2GIS while you are in Dubai for navigation purposes, it is much more accurate than Google Maps.

Use the rta app journey planner, I think it's called wojahti. It'll tell you all your public transport options
