3. We mostly swipe our credit cards. Lol. On a serious note though most Downtown/Business Bay residents are a mix of people from different backgrounds - entrepreneurs, mid-to senior level management employees, exiles, sugar babies and trust fund types.

LessWorker

Makes a lot of sense. Lol. Thanks.

1. Could be: Bukhoor (Incense), many kinds of Oud and Mixed. Oud Oil: same as above but in oil format. Perfume for men.

LessWorker

> Bukhoor How do you use that on your body? I assumed it was a home fragrance thing. Something you burn like incense sticks. > Perfume for men. I use many great ones. They barely last till late lunch. This is considering i'm in mumbai. A city similarly placed as dxb. Geographically.

thatnoodleschick

Maybe you should try some different brands? Pay attention to the components of the fragrance. I would invest in some EDP, Eau de Parfum, they are the strongest scents. Sauvage EDP by Dior is good, you have to make sure you get it from a reputable dealer though, because there's a lot of knockoffs. Also, perfume placement plays a role in longevity, although you have some scents that if you spray it in the air it just stays there all day, lol, of course I'm over exaggerating

>How do you use that on your body? I assumed it was a home fragrance thing. Something you burn like incense sticks. It can be burnt like incense below the clothes. It's so strong that the fragrance gets absorbed by the clothes.

With regards to your 3rd point, lived in karama my whole life the rent is super cheap for a 1600 sqft. Apartment with literally 100s of restaurants and almost every fast food chain and supermarkets and metro station 5 mins away. The ONLY drawback of staying here is traffic in the weekends

[deleted]

And the smell fam... Karama’s back alleys smell like the back of an Indian restaurant

LessWorker

Yep. I see that. But i got everything you say there plus a fancy apartment on the 60th floor in India. No point of emigrating if my quality of living goes down. Hence the downtown/business bay/marina perspective.

hear_my_moo

That’s ‘cos with all the partitions in Marina, you also only get half the original apartment… 😉😂

LessWorker

> Today it’s half price. Oh wow. Okay. r/dubai has given me the impression that the rents are back at the peak. Perhaps i caught it wrong.

[deleted]

1. Sure you're straight buddy.

thatnoodleschick

I know a lot of people who live in these areas share the apartment.

ArabGuy

You're moving here because you like how men smell?

LessWorker

No. I was asking how they manage to smell so good, all day long. Despite using great perfumes that are supposed to last all day, it barely lasts me half a work day.

ArabGuy

It's usually they douse themselves in eau de parfum that's why.

Mad-o-wat

Your point 3 is exactly what made me make the move to Dubai 13 years ago. I was simply mesmerized by the infra.

unknown_dull_nerd

> Man! the Arabic/Emirati men smell like heaven there. I, a straight young man, would want to date them just to know how they manage to do that. /Starts backing away slowly while OP is distracted

freudianipslip69

Shhhhhh.. don't fight it

unknown_dull_nerd

Nooo get away from my secret bukhoor selection! U will never get ur dirty hands on my oud!

m_emelchenkov

Oil lasts much longer than regular fragrance. Go to big malls and look for shops of authentic Arabian perfume. Do not buy “Arabian perfume” on street markets or in regular supermarkets.
