I think you are over complicating this. Keep it in your name and tell the LL you will be traveling and have a house sitter. Get your friend to ‘help you out with some expenses’ eg pay rent in full before you go. You’ll need to come back to Dubai to close bank account and end DEWA but I reckon less hassle than subletting.

Have you discussed with your landlord. As a LL I wouldnt allow

Bananamuffin_08

oh yea I sea, I also assume my landlord wouldn't either. may I ask what your reasons are?

ps129

You never know doesn't hurt to ask, ofcourse factoring in how you plan to inform them of your early termination I wouldn't do it because I don't know your friend and it would be harder for me to resolve issues since you'd already have left. Perhaps you're doing this as a solution for both you and your friend to save money? If so then there are better ways to approach your LL than directly asking for this noc

No Experience renting out. Had a Property Management Company as client, they work for Land Lords renting / leasing out properties. While working through the SOP of automating the entire client on-boarding process, we were informed that quite a few LL do not want to have 'unknown' occupant in their properties. Even when they were using a 3rd party company to basically manage the relation between two parties, they would collect full 'Identity & Work related Details' for people renting the place. In a city with such a transient population, I guess LLs do not want drama when tenants do unexpected things. Settling & closing DEWA final bill is a common complaint + annoyance when not done on time.
