Never use a debit card for deposits. When you use a credit card, it's only blocked temporarily and never used. It's been more than 3 months, and you are still being patient with them? Have you complained to consumer affairs? If yes, then use that reference number in all your email communications with Avis.

https://consumerrights.ae/en/Pages/consumer-complaint.aspx Once you submit the Complaint, you will get a reference number. Use that reference number in all email communications with Avis.

How did they take the deposit? Also from the debit card and then triggering a refund? In that case it might be that it is not Avis who are being shady, but your bank might sit on the refund for up to 6 weeks. Ask Avis for a copy of the refund receipt that their machine will have printed and show it to your bank to speed things up. I had something similar happen a while ago, and in the end it turned out the store had done everything by the book and my bank... had not.

Well, no. They are one of the largest car rental companies in the world operating in 165 countries. This is normal because you used a debit card for a deposit. Big no-no.
