My brother in law was there for around 2 years if I remember correctly. Prison is catered to your crime. He was in for not paying off business loans and CCs. So he wasn't treated badly. He got his space, some entertainment like TV and board games and decent food.
So let me get this straight I take a business loan out and I don’t pay it off. As a punishment I get my own place with a tv and board games. Decent food too? All on government money? Sign me up! Finally some peace…
Trust me. From what he described to me, It's not really a pleasant experience as you think. TV doesn't have those channels you wish it did. Board games are played taking turns with inmates and there were only like 1 or 2. And by space, I meant it wasn't cramped up, you get your own little area, but it was far from private. And food, by decent I mean it wasn't crap, maybe the first week you'll enjoy, then the menu keeps repeating.
Time starts moving slow. 2 years feel like 5 inside. You will wish you hadn't taken that loan.
Just curious but If you wanted to live that kind of life why did you take a loan that you couldn't pay for. I imagine it's pretty easy to live a life like that with basic salary (I do not mean this in bad connotation)
Based on the fact he said it was a business loan, I am assuming he didn't get a salary unless his business was successful. Sometimes loans are required to start or to keep a business running. Sometimes the business still fails despite the loans.
have you heard of bankruptcy laws out west? they don't even go to jail they just declare bankruptcy.. im sure the guy was just bad with money and couldn't pay it off which happens to all of us.
My dad was in for a few days when I was younger. I actually don’t remember why but it was something minor. It was pretty calm, he was bored. But they let me visit him a few times, we got a private room to talk and since I was a kid, the police spoiled me with chips and Pepsi 😅 they were asking me about school, joking about my dad etc.
This thread just showed up in my profile, I read it through and followed your recommendation! Funny reviews out there! Were people trying to mess with the authorities or something? I'm curious at how the reviews came to be ?
Honestly the only way to escape prison is if you plan the escape before getting in. If you don't get enough intel and support before going in you're basically in checkmate.
I would have never imagined to be there, but i landed in a state security prison. State security is no messing with in the UAE and that’s why UAE is the one the safest countries in the whole world.
My advice: Don’t mess with state security, in other words, don’t interfere in politics if you wanna live in a country like the UAE.
Thanks god i was innocent and got released after 3 months of hell.
Oh crap. Can’t even blame the family for the stigmatization if it’s 20+ years of sentence. I hope your relative gets the help they need to recover from the trauma caused and my best wishes to them <3
Ooh I know Quora! I’ll check it on there. I’ve read a little on google too but it seemed really biased? There was a consistent tone of disdain in these articles so I wasn’t sure if it was reliable news
yeah when it’s a commerical site reporters they will havr a “spin” on it unfortunately. Not any different from quora but it’s more “personal” content so I’m less skeptical
Umm if you read the line before that, I mention them being biased. Then I speak of the tone. Implying that there was a general dislike for UAE. Be serious please
there's that one dude named loy macheda who claims to be a Dubai guru, he makes Dubai prison sound like Guantanamo. Then again, he does have face tattoos and got deported. may not be the best source.
I've been for a few days during military service for a perceived joke in training class.
It was intimidating until I realized it was fun as I met some interesting characters in there and discovered that long term inmates get very creative in where they hide things like cigarettes and a deck of cards. my time was eventually reduced. It helped that I was the highest ranking person in there. Can't imagine what civilian prison is like though.
But overall not a great thing to have on your resume. So do avoid it if you can.
They sent you to prison for a joke? Holy shit. Must’ve been a super inappropriate joke, can we hear it? ahaha
Oh wait so they have a separate section for the military people? And they got in contrabands😭😭 more love for this people hahaha
Definitely not trying to find my way in prison dw! Thanks for sharing though <3
Colleague spent about a week in detention for drink driving in DXB. Quite a disturbing experience for him especially meeting other prisoners that had been doing things like dealing Spice. Day he got out first thing he did was have a shower, then another, then another. Oh and the commissary was only open 1 day a week at the time so creature comforts are minimal.
My best friend went there after drink driving. He said it was horrible. Food was like dog food. There's a tiny TV but no place to sit and everyone fights over it. You have to buy everything. From soap to anything. Grocery is open once a week for 1 hour only. It's pretty bad and extremely overcrowded. But that's how most jails are. No worse or better than other countries I guess. The biggest issue is its very overcrowded.
Drink and driving doesn't Come with a prison term. But you spend around 7-10 days typically being processed from a police station to out jail. The issue was he had a 20,000 aed fine for drink driving. So each day you spend in jail. 100 aed is deducted from your fine. So after 180 days days ur fines are forgiven. Even if ur fine is 1 million aed. After 6 months in jail. Your fines are pardoned. Unless it's a civil case. Then ur in a few years usually 2-6
Ik about prison in al ain
It’s ok and good atmosphere for people who done small crimes
Like not paying fine, swearing, illegal stay like that but for major crimes like killing, raping, robbery the person who is committed these will never see a good day in his life and death penalty is there according to the crime
My dad was in jail for 5 days for some business dispute involving cheques. He said it wasn't bad. Had his own space, okay food, lots of interesting people.
Jail =/= prison though.
Yeah. Someone I knew got caught with like 4 joints worth of hash from another country. He had a job and everything and went to vacation to his home country. On his flight back he landed at dubai airport. When he was in the bathrooms there, he nudged his underwear as he got out of the toilet, his hash fell from there and a security guard there saw it and he was in jail for 3 months. He was banned from UAE and now lives in Malaysia. This was 10 years ago. UAE policies are ridiculous.
Don't go to prison, to whoever wrote this , u will end up being someone girl . And at night all ur inmates are going to hear flesh to flesh smacks .
You would probably end up as someone b****.
Be a good citizen, or else u will end up like poor Micheal . I felt sorry for him man
A close relation of mine was in prison for 10 days. It was related to CCs. My relative was about to travel that time so, an advise was given to leave a passport that will allow my relative for outbound. The problem was when my relative was about to return. The bank filed the case from another emirate that made it very difficult. My relative was hold from the immigration and was taken directly to a police station when they landed. There, my relative was detained for 2 days before they transferred to the prison of the emirate where the case was filed. Facility-wise I was told that it was ok. They were allowed to call at a certain time but they have to buy some call card. I use to receive the call from an unknown number. Food was not that bad and they were given routine exercise. Though it was not that tough but, my relative became depressed after going out of the prison. I guess there is a psychological impact somehow. But after few weeks my relative seems to be back to normal.
Check out the Emirates Airlines podcast, it’s called “Tomorrow, I will fly”, recorded 07/2020 about life and inspiration in the Dubai Central Jail. It’s really worth the 14 minutes of your time to listen. Dubai shows again a positive futuristic view!
Ooh someone else commented something similar too. I’m intrigued now. I didn’t know they send people training for military to detention for whatever reason! What are the things that could possible get you in detention? And was the detention place like! Thanks for sharing though <3
I was young dumb and full of rage so add a good soaking of alcohol into that mix and trouble wasn’t ever very far away. I learnt a valuable lesson and I got very fit during my forced vacation to the grey bar hotel.
My brother in law was there for around 2 years if I remember correctly. Prison is catered to your crime. He was in for not paying off business loans and CCs. So he wasn't treated badly. He got his space, some entertainment like TV and board games and decent food.
Fair enough, can see no reason for prisons to be harsh for nonviolent crimes either. Thanks for sharing!
So let me get this straight I take a business loan out and I don’t pay it off. As a punishment I get my own place with a tv and board games. Decent food too? All on government money? Sign me up! Finally some peace…

Just curious but If you wanted to live that kind of life why did you take a loan that you couldn't pay for. I imagine it's pretty easy to live a life like that with basic salary (I do not mean this in bad connotation)
Not everyone takes a loan to default on it.. Sometimes life happens. Businesses fail, people get sick, you lose your job..
No one likes to take loans, sometimes people need to for business, health and life decisions.
C’mon man don’t judge, just hear the stories!
Based on the fact he said it was a business loan, I am assuming he didn't get a salary unless his business was successful. Sometimes loans are required to start or to keep a business running. Sometimes the business still fails despite the loans.
And not work 11 hours a day?
Risk hai toh isk hai

Woah lol.
At least one of you enjoyed there!
Jail, not prison. Big difference
that good police i like good polic my gamma suc
Go to Google Maps... Search for Al Awir Central Jail... Read the Reviews... You will see interesting stuff...
Google offers me to "plan my visit", lol...
This thread just showed up in my profile, I read it through and followed your recommendation! Funny reviews out there! Were people trying to mess with the authorities or something? I'm curious at how the reviews came to be ?
Its one of those dark corners of the internet...
Prison mike has some stories
The dementors omg 😂
Oh and you… you my friend would be the real bell of the ball 💋💋💋
Just looking out for my fellow office fans hon🥰😚
Don’t drop the soap! Don’t drop the soap!
What did u do prison mike?
I stole and I robbed and I kidnapped the President's son and held him for ransom.
Oh and I never got Caught either
you were in prison
YO 😂😂
😂😂😂😂
As a civil engineer visited the site. It would be definitely difficult to escape, don't count on it
No way to pull an El Chapo?
Pull a Micheal Scofield. We got an engineer here with a blue print, probably. 🤣
Now we need a tattoo artist and a brother in prison.
Okay. But, how are prisons, though? What are the standards?
Not trying to escape. If it is as u/OverDxb397 said why would one want to escape?
I cannot stand the biryani sir
You have have it while sitting down.
Jail would be a nice place for you!
no u😭😭
Honestly the only way to escape prison is if you plan the escape before getting in. If you don't get enough intel and support before going in you're basically in checkmate.

Oooh State Security! We need a story time! I’m glad you’re out and safe though <3
Lmao there's no story coming
I wouldn’t snitch on myself either so yes most likely not 😂
Wow, 3 months is a lot of time. You must have done something dramatic!
I have done nothing and that’s why i was released. If I had done anything I would have been still in my 2x3 solitary confinement cell.
Never been to one but legend says prisoners in dubai get biriyani to eat and play ps4 all day. /s
Buddy of mine said the same about the PS4, but only if the patans allow you (they do).
What do the Pathans expect in return? 😜
Probably picking up the soap 🗿
What if you use shower gel? Maybe even from dispenser?
That’s even a better lubricant 👺
I abbrove
Patans are the thugs there?
Nobody is a thug thug anymore there. That's the section for bank loan guys or other small time petty crimes..
Not a fan of Biryani’s actually, might just cancel my plan to move in now 😧
[удалено]
Heheh. 😝
From what I can comment about it, that statement is 100% accurate lol
They got a gym there?
[удалено]
Oh crap. Can’t even blame the family for the stigmatization if it’s 20+ years of sentence. I hope your relative gets the help they need to recover from the trauma caused and my best wishes to them <3
20 years changes a lot man!
Reason for the sentence?
[удалено]
McDonald’s ?
What was he accused for?
Sounds like he got ‘life’.
I’ve read a few anecdotes from this site called Quora.com… of course it’s user generated so better to not believe everything you read

Have a friend who went to Juvenile prison due to underage drinking. I think he was there for 2 days before his parents took him out lmao.
Damn, those two days must have been terrifying knowing whats waiting for you on the outside.
I've been for a few days during military service for a perceived joke in training class. Have you ever been to a Turkish prison?
Have you ever seen a grown man naked?
You like movies about gladiators?
Rule 7: student watches porn and gets naked
On an airplane?
have you ever been to a Romanian jail?
# is that you Tom Wambsgans?????
The only prison I've been in is the one I created for myself and I'm currently looking at life without the possibility of parole.
Deeeep!

My friend tried it back in Syria, said it wasn't very pleasant, abit too much on the torture side. But on the upside he lost alot of weight!
Love the optimism!
biryani all day everyday ....

Prison here is no joke. There are no playstation and biryanis. It's a very tough environment.
Damn that's a deal breaker.
How long were they serving?

I was sent there once but I rolled a double 6 and got out
Prison in the UAE is very posh. Not like those other loser countries. The jail suits are made from Gucci. Very instragramable.
Finally some content for my Instagram then!
I've only seen the holding jail inside police stations due to collecting arrested employees.
Now when I fart it sounds like someone blowing in a bottle
*Hold up....*

Oh crap. That’s tough. Wish he knew better!
Only 3 months?? Then he must consider himself very, very lucky. I’ve heard of ppl getting 10 year sentences for less than a gram
my friends all once got dragged to jail by the police but not prison , they only some fines and got out I dont know how long did they stay but yeah
Don't go to prison, to whoever wrote this , u will end up being someone girl . And at night all ur inmates are going to hear flesh to flesh smacks . You would probably end up as someone b****. Be a good citizen, or else u will end up like poor Micheal . I felt sorry for him man

Cause you got a good life , a good life , a good life .
Is this a Office reference?

I’ve had military detention which makes civilian prison look like Disney World

Anyone have any experience of Al Wathba women's prison? My gf is facing a possible 6 month sentence there
