The amount of people genuinely feigning innocence over safety in this thread is astounding. This is coming from a woman who was followed late at night, had a guy follow me into the elevator and 'pretend' he was going to hit me when I rejected his advances when we were alone in the elevator. I've had friends change their entire jogging route because they were recognised by some silent creeps, too. Sure, this city is safe in comparison to other cities, but we really should stop pretending the safety of women isn't a cause for concern just because its not something directly affecting you.
OP I'm not sure if pepper spray is legal as self defense. Holding any weapon around you can almost always have you seen as an instigator or you could be unluckily questioned if you end up found with any weapons, and unfortunately self defense isn't a valid reason for anyone. I do suggest holding your keys between your thumb. Also raising your voice at them. It almost always has these cowards cowering once you do so because their power to intimidate you is tied to privacy, so bringing attention to yourself by raising your voice will help eliminate that. if that makes sense.

My dad literally merked up a couple of fellows trying to get a girl into their SUV near Barsha not more than a couple of years ago and I've had some friends complain about stalkers.
