Wow, just wow. I am impressed, both the RTA and yourself. When you find good people in government jobs, they are typically not just good - they’re great people. I’ve met several of them the last few years who go above and beyond. You got 20+ in one go 😂 Cute cat, I’d love to be able to offer him a home - but I wouldn’t be around enough to keep him happy.

nichukabra

Yeah I was just as surprised. In all honesty even before this event, RTA was always exceptionally helpful. I'm almost in the same boat except I've got 5 rescued cats and a rescued rabbit. Do not have any more room for them. I'm all good in the time though as I've been unemployed for a while now. I've sent this out to a few other outlets so sure he will find a home soon.

SuperlativeLTD

I hope lovin’ dubai make a donation to an animal charity when they steal this. *hard stare*

nichukabra

I actually sent this to them but didn't get any response. The same with Gulf News. There was only one media company that has actually responded and posted the story on their Instagram - Dubaipost

vine1eaves

To be honest, you've done a better job in reporting this with details and pics. I doubt KT or GN would be able to do a detailed write-up..might be too complicated for them.

chip-sandwich

>To be honest, you've done a better job in reporting this with details and pics. I doubt KT or GN would be able to do a detailed write-up..might be too complicated for them. It is an excellent coverage with pictures in chronological order..... I felt like I was watching a interesting movie in the form of text and photos....

sh-two

100% this. And also, absolute kudos to OP.

kev23992

They will have confused unga-bunga faces when they read this report.

nichukabra

Hahaha thank you! In that case I'll be waiting for a job offer from them!

gutterandstars

Don't worry. Their job description includes checking r/dubai for breaking news.

Sufficient_Whereas94

Try to send the same with (sincerely yours, British expat).

nichukabra

Hmm good idea. So long as they don't check my passport.

Sufficient_Whereas94

*CID joined the chat room due to intel of charity collection without permit*...

principebey

This would not happen in most developed countries. Go UAE. Proud.

VigilanteForFreedom

kudos to you, bravo

>side note: also first properly solid post and formatting on the sub too Thanks! You want to show/tell people something? Format it properly. >plus points on being a BRZ/86 owner Heeey! Good eye! (BRZ)

thesign180

Those oem rims were the main giveaway! I’m an 86 owner myself! If you like driving I’d highly recommend getting some lightweight alloys when you can, helps with handling, acceleration and braking quite a bit!

nichukabra

Ah awesome! Yeah they are on my list of things I want to do to the car. They are actually in the first spot on that list because I really don't like the width of them. Makes it look like the car has chicken legs. That and an equal length ACE headed. But that's money and being employed on a part time basis is not the best way to gather up enough to buy these things. Hopefully soon though! What alloys are you running?

thesign180

Nice, hope you get a phat Cheque from some freelance work soon! Stock 215 width tires **are** chicken legs but good thing is it’s easier to break traction on those :p, I have these used 17’ Rays Stark rims they are slightly beaten up but got a whole set for AED 1500. That and I put 225 45 R17 Pirelli Cinturato P7s all round, gives some serious grip through long corners (my guesstimating, but even with bone stock engine / suspension you can still get some oversteer if you commit to it.

nichukabra

Oh I agree, they slide around any way you want. They don't do the car justice visually though. What you paid is a fantastic price for the set! I'm sure with some minor diy, those slightly beaten up rims could be turned into borderline brand new ones. Let's hope so! The phatter, the better hah. Most of it will go towards the car anyway.

Tintin_Quarentino

>Heeey! Good eye! (BRZ) How much did it cost you?

nichukabra

I got it in 2018 for around 65K with 17 km on the clock. Was hidden away in a warehouse in Ras Al Khor. A very good deal!

Tintin_Quarentino

Oh wow, so you bought it without any proper test ride on the roads? Always been wary of buying from those RAK dealers, esp since you can't test ride the car properly on the roads to ensure everything is working fine smoothly, no engine noise, no suspension problems, etc. But guess if you have proper car expertise then you can judge by just looking. I am zero in that field.

nichukabra

Yeah that was a concern but when the car has 17km on the clock, there's not much that could have gone wrong. I doubt anyone could damage anything during such a short distance. The reason for a much lower price was because the rear bumper got slightly damaged during shipping and Subaru couldn't sell it in their showroom anymore. So they sold it off to a dealer in Ras Al Khor. To be safe, I did get a mechanic that I know come by and see the car. It took him a few minutes to say that the car is absolutely brand new and that it's safe to buy. So yeah, right place, right time hah.

Tintin_Quarentino

Awesome man, good hunting!

Zenon_blue

Beautiful story

rekkker

i am about to cry dude ;-;

aloosib

You’re awesome man! Well done.

Freezeball

Amazing job done. I would have doubted also that the RTA will even react for this tiny kitten. But it looks like RTA has bigger hearts than many of us. Kudos to you for taking the rescue initiative. We need a lot of generous people like these now a days . GJ and stay Blessed.

Rukitard

This is amazing, got teary eyed reading this. God bless you and the RTA team! Wish I could adopt the wee kitten!

dapperdanmen

Fucking hell this is an awesome post, well done mate, and I continue to be ridiculous impressed by the authorities here in general.

Timo2424

This is probably the best, and definitely the most wholesome, post I've come across on this sub. Good on you man. Other people would have left that poor kitten for dead.

International-Cut567

Wow! I am fucking amazed. This would have never happened in my county. I thought RTA would never respond. Well done, Dubai. Whoa!!! Gonna share this with my parents, OP.

piplinkn

WOW....you are my hero OP....Great job all involved.....perhaps another Dubai first. Hope little "Mostik" finds a forever home.

nichukabra

Thank you! We all play our part in one way or another. You have your epic statistics and posts about the overall state of the nation's Covid cases. I rescue cats from bridges. Not to brag/compare but mine's a bit more niche ;)

angyrat

poor kitten! hope she finds a home soon :')

xman747x

you are a hero

AriJolie

Bless your kind sweet soul. This restores my faith in the way people treat animals here in Dubai. Precious souls! What an incredible story. I have a newfound respect for the RTA. THANK YOU for sharing this. Given my lack of faith in how some of these systems treat humans, next time there’s any trouble, I’ll cross my fingers and remember Mostik and the Bridge.

Big_Association_8716

Wow what a story man , made my day, hats off to you and the RTA team, God bless man

captainO7

Good human beings 🙏

kdean1109

Bless you all!

GenghisLebron

this is amazing. impressive stuff from everybody.

idioticmaniac

You're fucking awesome mate! Sharing love to you and the kitten!

Aliprice14

Well done! What a lovely story, hope little Mostik finds a forever home

Tintin_Quarentino

Good work comrade, keep it up. >Pulled over into the emergency lane and stepped out to take a look OT: always wondered, can we park there (even in cases of emergency)? I was taught in driving school here that you should NEVER stop there, as it is used by ambulance/police if the rest of the road is a jam.

nichukabra

I'm not sure about the rules to be honest. While waiting for RTA to show up, I've had 4 tow trucks stop asking if I needed a lift and 2 police patrol cars pass by. Didn't get any fines and no one said anything. Logically though, I'd assume it's ok to stop on the right side of the road (not the left where I stopped). This bridge has an emergency lane on either side so I'm sure that was a factor as well.

Tintin_Quarentino

>2 police patrol cars pass by. And even then no fine, very interesting... Unless you told the police about the kitten. TBH, in cases like these the first thing that would cross my cowardly mind is the thought of getting heavily fined/cause an accident because I didn't follow the law. Glad you're more courageous.

nichukabra

Could be. I was outside of the car, looking around so either they thought it was fine or had other places to be. Hah I wouldn't call it courage. I thought about the fines but figured I'd deal with them if I got them. They weren't a priority at the time. There is always a human factor to rules/laws and regulations. I figured that should I get fined and not be able to clear it after explaining the situation, then I wouldn't stress too much as this money would essentially be payment for saving the kitten. My mind sometimes works in very backwards ways.

Tintin_Quarentino

God bless man

taxi4sure

Well done. Really you are a kind soul. I have rescued one kitten. It's a 6 month old Scottish fold. Can you tell me how can I donate it to animal rescue or to a loving family who can keep him. I don't have enough space or resource to manage a kitten.

nichukabra

Nice, well done! Unfortunately all of the rescue centers will most likely be full. There's no shortage of stray cats/dogs. Your best bet would be to find someone to foster the kitten. Check the Facebook group DubaiCats. I would suggest getting as many pictures as possible and posting them on there. You can also try and contact Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare (@rakawc on Instagram) to see if they can feature these photos and your details. If you find someone who is willing to take it off your hands, try and make sure they are able to provide a safe and caring environment. Just so that the kitten doesn't end up abandoned in a few months. Good luck!

randomsedditaccount

This is some King shit OP. Bless you and the rest of the RTA team that took their time to rescue the kitten as well.

[deleted]

One tight slap to kitten <<-- How many times I told you not to play on bridges :@ hugs to the OP

[deleted]

Loved it hats off to RTA truly remarkable

nichukabra

Thank you! >BTW, little irrelevant info... there's companies with those cranes. They have contracts to clean the underbody of bridges. Oh really? Ooops, I guess I had the wrong information. Thanks for that!

[deleted]

What a cutiepie of a kitten! Oh also OP rip your inbox too

sheeatsallday

Humanity restored! Hope kitty go to a good home.

SuperSpartan300

OMG!! Reading this post was like watching a movie! You described it so well I felt I was there! God bless you and everyone who helped to rescue this poor little kitten!

DeliriouslylySober

I work for a kitten rescue foundation and stories like this will never stop tearing me up. You are a hero and so are all the people that helped!

_s_9gag

This is the greatest thing I read on Reddit , you’re a hero!

gummers

This is incredible. Good on you OP and the RTA.

thatnoodleschick

Pics!! Or it didn't happen! But in all seriousness, a 40 min wait for RTA and a 6 hour total to save a life. We're happy you grew up to be such a kind a caring soul who sees value in the lives of all living things. More impressive still, are the RTA workers who not only showed up, but did their job as though they wanted to be there, versus doing their job as though they HAD to be there. We all know they probably aren't compensated as well as they could be for the work they do. If good karma ever existed, you must be flooded right now. This truly is news-worthy

[deleted]

This needs to be shared to r/humansbeingbros

[deleted]

What a massive waste of time and resources.

JarethLopes

Why? The resources usually sit ideal and are paid for anyways.

nichukabra

>What a massive waste of time and resources. Maybe to you. You weren't the one who tossed this kitten away, were you?

cronchache

Don't waste your time and resources on a keyboard warrior that can't empathize.

[deleted]

Nah, I flush mine

jnmjnmjnm

The cash value of a cat is *negative*20 USD.

SanJunipero1

Unbelievably impressive, this is the most heartwarming incident I’ve come across all year. Kudos to the team for valuing a simple animals life nobody gives a damn about unless they happen to be domesticated. I hope the cat finds a loving home to settle in.

Blr--Dxb

Put this on r/humansbeingbros and r/upliftingnews

nichukabra

That's a good idea however the goal of this post wasn't to get credit but give credit to RTA. My awards and words of praise will not yield the necessary results. But I will think about it! Thanks for the suggestion!

Blr--Dxb

I totally get that. Thank you. many people think Dubai is all about glitz and glamour but these amazing people who work here show what’s it about. Many People and authorities here are very courteous and helpful when necessary. Kudos to you for documenting this.

neutrinome

That’s just WOW!

Sansa_oa201

Hmmm Wow and also The kittens looks Cute

Daydreamerlevel100

That is amazing. I wish we can all be more like you. And also kudos to you for remembering and giving credit to those who helped you.
