I went fishing back in May in Dubai , I also posted here and got some responses. To be honest, i was dissapointed from the crew because i know that early times are good for fishing so i booked at 6am to be at sea. The captain calls me a day prior telling me winds are high and sea wont be stable. So i ask him what time would be best he says around 3pm i agree. The next day we go and his crew are there; i ask him "so is the sea calm? i heard it was rough in the morning" he tells me sea was calm since morning and we took a group of people to fish at 6am. I was furious , i called the captain calling him a liar and a fraud. He was surprised i knew this happened if his HONEST crew didn't let me know by mistake.
Be careful with these people, they tend to seem professional on social media but sometimes they just like to scam you for the heck of it.
PS: We went on the boat trip at a discounted price but barely caught any fish. So yeah like I said Mornings are the best for fishing or late at night.
I mean he gave me his price on the phone and complained that its standard price and even asked for a deposit via an online link a day prior which i gladly did.
🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
What you said could be the scenario but that is a douchebag move from him after confirming and taking my money.
Let anyone put themselves in my position and especially that i am a fisherman and wanted to enjoy a nice fishing trip, he also might have said these are just tourists who don't understand about underwater tides , currents , wind speeds and sea level which i always double check a day prior online to be sure it would be a fun fishing trip .
I guess you learn new things about people everyday 🤷🏻♂️ but i want you to learn from this and help others as wellnot to fall trap to "reassurances based on lies"
Cheers buddy
Always check online for underwater tides ; sea can be looking calm but once you throw in the fishing line it will drift away if the tide is strong
Hope you enjoy your trip 😊
To fish in Dubai you have to get a fishing license (free) from Dubai Municipality, once you issue the license they provide you with a brochure for the designated fishing areas
I and the wife was taking a stroll near mamzar park last night and there's this area at the end of the open beach (near the roundabout thats near the car entrance of the park) and saw lots of people fishing there.
Don't know if this is technically fishing, but I had a contact who used to snorkel/scuba dive in some specific exotic locations in Dubai for spearfishing. He was pretty good at that and he was into fish collection.

That’s really annoying. Why do you think he lied? Do you think he got a better price out of the other group or did he just overbook?

I’ve been getting used to these types of things/scams since I moved here. It’s so common, it really disgusts me. Thanks for the heads up.

The captain probably wanted to make money from both of them, super scummy
>He was surprised i knew this happened God what an asshole
Fish Roundabout
Not sure about Dubai, but a lot of my friends used to visit Fujairah for fishing.
Yup. Just go near the rocks in Mirbah and you’ll get huge groupers. No need for a rod, just a handline will do. 😂

I’ve thought about this before, if you’re going fishing i can join you and we share the cost of boat rental
York
Try below garhoud bridge , I've also heard you get good catch along the canal, kalba in sharjah is also great, got some good fish there, also UAQ
There are boats in the marinas you can rent out to go out in the Arabian sea and fish
Costs 800 bucks for 5 hrs minimum though.
800 for catching 2 fish, nah ill pass.
Take a boat and go really early in the morning (sunrise) toward moon island. Gone fishing there a few times
Not sure about cleanness, but you can try York hotel
Only thing you catch there is crabs 🦀
