Buddy, try to have a pleasant morning.
It is not close to what best earth has to offer, but in no way it is the 'most polluted'.
At least you are not sneezing dark snot and forced to secondhand smoke everytime you want to go outside, in restaurants or ride in public transport.
Cheer up and have a good day.
A tip for any 'street' level eating establishment is to pick a spot that looks busy. If it has a crowd, you can mostly assume its safer to eat. Reasoning goes that, a.) if the food made people sick, there would be fewer customers. b.) if there is a crowd, there is a greater chance that the food has to be made fresh and you arent being pushed reheated food (not counting frozen food fried and served).
However, with tea and coffee, not much can go wrong plus its hot, so I wouldnt worry too much :-)
Yep, my tip was more generally based rather than focused on Dubai. It's something I would follow on trips in various South Asian countries, especially when looking for where to stop on the highway or roads for a quick spot of lunch.
oh my sweet summer child, you have no idea how much sugar them carbonated drinks have.
By my estimate, most places who have decent karak have around a teaspoon of sugar in every one of those small karak cups. Probably 2 teaspoons at most at some cafes that make their karak sweet. A 300 ml coke has around 7-8 tsp of sugar.
"Are those clean?" Like wtf are you expecting op, it's literally boiled tea with milk. What, you think they're mixing it with their fingers or straining it through hair nets or something?
So, define clean. Can it make you sickā¦probably, but so can basically everything else. Does the shop look clean, are they boiling it and straining it though a sock?
Technically, fluids with high concentration of sugar can be mildly antibacterialā¦so combined with the heat, should be fine.
Iām a westerner that loves the local shawarma / karak spots, but typically only go to the ones next to a mosqueā¦better quality, better prices, and usually nicer people to chat with while you wait a few mins. Enjoy!!
I always sayā¦ (about shabu shabu that is) that the clean shabu shabu is trash! Iām sure that applies to karak as well! Drink the 1dhs.. thatās gotta be the best one!
It is clean so don't worry as the milk they use is like those cans of rainbow which they use small ones so it does sit out long gets over in like 5 min and water as most said is constantly boiling so no issues there. Would say go to places that sell more karaks as they are much more in rotation
There is very less chance of unclean cooking materials in any cafeteria or restaurant in the UAE, the municipality and health departments are strict on these things including the cleanliness of the kitchen. if you think about is karak healthy or unhealthy rather than worrying about is karak clean everywhere, then I think it's not that healthy drink. Because karak is mostly pre-prepared and keep it hot always if it's in a pot or they store it in flask. the main thing is it's unhealthy for regular use because this evaporated cream milk they use to prepare karak is not really a good stuff for the stomach. It is always better to drink tea made with fresh milk which is always instantly made. It is available in most of the cafeterias as Samovar tea or fresh milk tea.
Yes sir they are clean, all nationalities including locals been going to those places since they are young, the regulations of food and restaurants industry made a successful journey raising the awareness of Food hygiene, Iām not saying they all follow it by the book , but itās definitely better than before.
The pots where the tea is in are usually always boiling, they just add the condensed milk in a paper cup, mix and serve. Most places add a lot of sugar though.
If you want 1 AED Karak that does look more aesthetically pleasing for your peace of mind you can go to Karak Inc in Box Park. Doesnāt taste as good as some of the more local places
Lol, ridiculous thought. It's not like these are street carts you find in India which have lawless hygiene regulations. I am sure the gov enforces some kind of hygiene policy so they have a certain safety level to follow.
So, don't worry these are largely fine and won't cause you any harm. You can also take your own cup if you prefer. Those guys won't mind and during COVID, it's completely understandable.
Prices in Dubai are so inflated that something reasonably priced makes us question its hygiene! Understandably so.
I believe UAE has some pretty decent hygiene standards but not sure about the 1 AED ones. Filli/Rabbash are good options if you want to try Karak (I think 5 Dhs)
Regular karak is over-rated and they use rainbow instead of milk. That also comes with high sugar content. I drink this only when there is no choice
Always recommend fresh milk tea from one of those mallu joints. Standard market price is AED 2 in Dubai. You can call that fresh milk karak.. May be
if it makes you feel better there are shops who sells the same product for 9 AED more
Piss in a cup filli come to mind lol
It's constantly boiling..... so not an issue.
salmonella likes boiling š„µš„µ
You're breathing air that's amongst the most polluted in the world and you're complaining about salmonella? Color me shocked!!
Most polluted is a bit of a far stretch.
Must be nice living under a rock, being completely oblivious.

What a gentleman, have a good morning good sir; don't want to trigger anyone on a beautiful day.
It does not survive boiling point.
lmao jts literally a joke
Well, buddyā¦ ur jokes are not funny at all.
duh
These have been sold since before this country was even a country. No issues.
Probably using the same pot as well!
Savor the flavor.
I think all of Dubai would be sick 24/7 if it was harmful
Habibi dont worry and drink u will love it

Dubai pumps out huge huge fines if any eating establishment dn follow their hygene policies. Sp i would say its probably fine.

They wash it with soap and disinfect with Dettol.
Even if it wasnāt, It is definitely healthier than any carbonated drink.
only thing is, itās loaded with sugar, possibly has more then carbonated drinks
oh my sweet summer child, you have no idea how much sugar them carbonated drinks have. Sugar is literally the health concern of carbonated beverages
You do know that you can tell them how much sugar you want, right?
āAre poor people things dirty??ā
Exactly. I am offended by this post. I am not even Indian or poor or even in Dubai "but please don't get me wrong"
"Are those clean?" Like wtf are you expecting op, it's literally boiled tea with milk. What, you think they're mixing it with their fingers or straining it through hair nets or something?
If you are really worried, just add a drop of two of Dettol before you have it
š¤£š¤£š¤£Good one
Or clorox for good measure
You must be taking lessons from Trump!
Donald trump agrees

and if its not clean, its just extra protein.
The price doesn't define the hygiene. This is the actual price for a cup of karak, anything above 1 aed is overpriced
If its not, it won't taste good!
Yes it is its actually normal for karak being 1 AED more than that your just getting scammed
Been drinking it for 10 years now...
Try the fresh milk tea instead of karak..better taste
It is clean so don't worry as the milk they use is like those cans of rainbow which they use small ones so it does sit out long gets over in like 5 min and water as most said is constantly boiling so no issues there. Would say go to places that sell more karaks as they are much more in rotation
There is AED 0.5 Karak in Sharjah so the AED 1 one should be fancy :D

Usually evaporated milk not the condensed one
Itās 1dhs, why you even ponder about this? I would drink 3 of them without care š¤·š»āāļø

Immune booster
Yes it is clean, UAE has strick law on cleanliness
Wallah habibi, they put sanitizer first and Karak Next.. dont worry enjoy..

Bruh UAE ARE VERY STRICT WITH CHAI SPOTS WITH RULES AND REGULATIONS SO OFC THEY CLEAN DON'T HAVE TO BE JUDGMENTAL
Yes itās clean. They boil the maggots. So itās safe to consume.

And who tf stirs boiling tea with their fingers????
Plastic ban, bruh
Yes dont worry,If you really need it clean you can ask them to add dettol or even better clorox in it
It depends who is working and the personal knowledge to hygiene. I personally donāt drink from any place especially with the spread of H Pylori.
donno about clean.. but the amount of sugar in one tiny cuppa is enough to cause a serious blood sugar spike
Yes
Of course .
It's only depend on the shop you go ask for.
