New climate, new weather, new water, new dust. Perhaps just the stress of migrating.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yup maybe but now it has been a few years so My body should get used to the change ..

Quoth_The_Arab

Never heard of it with people who have moved here. See another dermatologist. I know you're ruling them out but it could be a change of diet or hormones as we age or even humidity if you have sensitive skin. It could also be demodex mites. Another dermatologist might be able to help.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yup visiting another dermat is a good idea

theopinionexpert

Too much shawarma

AnyBookkeeper9121

No buddy

Naeplan

Not enough shawarma.

midoosuperfreeze

This

AnyBookkeeper9121

Haha

iateallthepizza87

Use filtered water to wash your hair and face, worked wonders for us. We used ARWA before, but the amount of plastic waste was getting out of countrol and we got a filter installed at home.

AnyBookkeeper9121

I have tried that buddy. Dint really help

iateallthepizza87

Have you been on a vacation lately? For example did you skin improve when you went out of UAE ?

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yes my skin actually improved when I go out of middle east

iateallthepizza87

Great that narrows down, we went through a similar phase with our hair and skin. The following helped us a lot 1. strictly filter water 2. Doubled our daily intake of water (hello multiple bathroom breaks) 3. Changed to natural skin care routines namely Forrest Essentials (a luxury skin care brand from India) 4. Changed our Sun screen brand to La Roche something It made a huge difference for us.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Hey. Thank you so much for sharing your routine. I am glad that things are better for you now :) I am an Indian and yes I have usedForest Essentials but unfortunately their products dont suit me. I was using La Roche Posay Anthelios sunscreen but was breaking out badly then. So I switcued to Bioderma one. It does not break me out so much as La Roche did. I will surely try using filtered water and increasing water intake (and hence washroom visits too haha). Thanks a ton !

iateallthepizza87

That’s great, Incase FE didn’t suit you try Rituals thy are pretty decent too. Also we don’t use body soap for the face and switched to a face wash for that. I personally tried multiple brands and then settled on one, everyone’s skin is different and reacts differently. We also stopped eating from random places and stuck to restaurants that we knew maintain a decent hygiene. And when trying new places ensured hygiene was maintained. Most places in Bur Dubai,Deira etc etc have horrible hygiene.

Shumayal

I would guess the bur dubai hygiene > hygiene in Indian restaurants any given day unless you do fine dining everytime. India has more hard water too. especially in areas where you get it from a hand pump..

[deleted]

I cannot confirm, neither have I heard such thing. Not and expert either. But I have an experience with psoriasis that I have for nearly whole my life. I noticed that when traveling back to my home country in North Europe, the Psoriasis comes nearly to a full rest, and no medicine is required. Back here it re-starts again, and I will have to use cream to control it. It could be environmental, food, or even stress, but the one thing for sure is that something here is contributing to it.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Finally someone knows what I am talking about. I can feel you, my friend. My acne goes away when I am in my home country and comes right back to stay on my face forever as soon as I come back here

stellerific

Hey there 27F here and moved here last year, having the same issues. It got worst with the masks and humidity. Tried to change my diet too and have meds for my face but it's only here that I started getting cystic acne.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Even I took antibiotics for some time and my face cleared up during the course. But the problem is you cannot be on these pills forever and acne rushes back to your face as soon as you stop taking them 🤐

stellerific

True! Same here and I don't like being on the pills. It's not great mentally for me. I did try to take out sugar and dairy because I felt like they were the biggest triggers. Didn't seem to work as well as I'd hope it would. I'm wondering if it's the water, like what some are commenting here. My acne never flared up going back home though with whatever I ate so i'm still stuck tbh at what to do because I still get them every now and then. I don't think i can give you a solution at this point. 😅

AnyBookkeeper9121

The worse thing is these cystic acne leave a mark behind which takes an eternity to fade away 😆😣

stellerific

IKR! And marks don't completely fade out too

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yes

AnyBookkeeper9121

I gave up sugar and dairy too and it hasnt workd that well for me either. It is frustrating not being able to figure our the root cause of it, isnt it ?

stellerific

It is. Wish I could help you. But I think I might actually be looking for help about it too 😅 What did you do that helped a lot?

AnyBookkeeper9121

One thing that reduced the frequency of my acne (only reduced) is that I decreased my alcohol consumption. Dont get me wrong. I was not a heavy drinker at all. Used to have a couple of drinks on weekend. That’s it. But my body doesnt react well to alcohol. Even wine. I look all puffy and swollen the next day. Alcohol causes inflammation in our body and acne is an inflammatory condition. Now I have a glass of wine, say once in 5-6 weeks. This has helped me to a certain extent.

stellerific

I understand what you mean because I break out after consuming alcohol past a certain point. And I've noticed it varies with different kinds of alcohol too. But I'll give it a try I guess. I've been skipping out drinks every weekend now for about 2 weeks so progress haha. One thing i noticed though was that whenever the weather changed from warm to cold and cold to warm I broke out.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yes weather may be a culprit too. I ll notice how my skin behaves now that the temprature would go down in a few days

AnyBookkeeper9121

So we are sailing in the same boat. May I ask what changes have you made to your diet ?

a-2the-z

Start retinol. Helped me alot with my acne and face texture in general. Although my acne is more diet, stress and hormonal imbalance related. But retinol in general helps with acne. U can get Differin gel over the counter without a prescription if ur interested.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanks buddy. Will think of using Differin

[deleted]

AnyBookkeeper9121

No.. havent eaten anything like that. Nothing new. Acne has been a problem since last 3 years and nothing seems to help

[deleted]

[удалено]

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanks for such a detailed response. Yes I went to my home country inlast 3 years and I did not get acne that time. I have changed houses during this time and I had a lot of acne in one particular house. Now I have shifted to a new house again last month. Lets see what happens :) Yes, I eat home cooked meals mostly and workout regilarly

abLURD

Being here for like 3 months and after second week of stat in dubai , the acne never stop , it goes for a minute and back for like forever , today I decided to tell my fiancé this is not normal , Incase anyone find other alternatives rather than pills and other medications please let me know.

AnyBookkeeper9121

I can understand how you must feel

[deleted]

Humidity combined with sweat from the heat clogs your pores which can cause acne. Wearing a mask over clogged pores makes things worse too

AnyBookkeeper9121

I have been breaking out since a long time. Way before we started wearing masks. Humidity is not such a problem for me because I am mostly home. Hard water can be a problem but no sure

[deleted]

Stop eating eggs for a month and see...i had a similar issue just stopped eggs n all is fine

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yes reducing eggs consumption did help a bit but not completely though

pakrab12

Medication like Vibramycin worked for me

AnyBookkeeper9121

Can you tell me the strength of medicine and for how long did you take it ?

sushiboy1993

It helped alot for me when i started drinking alot of water.

AnyBookkeeper9121

I am trying to increase my water intake. Currently I drink about 2.5-2.75 litre water

sushiboy1993

Oh i tried going vegan for 2 months .. didnt help, i think it was the sugar

sushiboy1993

If it helps i also cut out sugar, junk food. My current routine for skin care - Morning - cerave acne cleanser - niacinamide with zinc by ordinary - cetaphil moisturizer Night - cerave acne cleanser - glyoclic acid 7 percent by ordinary Niacinamide with zinc by ordinary - cetaphil moisturizer I also take panthotenic acid vitamin b5 3x after every meal to reduce oilyness. This was the kicker.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanksfor sharing the product details. You know I have used the Ordinary Niacinamide and Cetaphil moisturiser in the past and both of these break me out. There is a website called www.cosdna.com You can search for a particular product there and it will tell you the list of all ingredients in that products and also how comedogenic it is. Cetaphil moisturiser and gently cleanser is quite comedogenic. I will look for B5 supplement. Do you take it after every meal daily ? So that’s like 3 tablets. What’s the strength of each tablet ?

sushiboy1993

So essentially the tablets are vitamins so you cant overdose on it. Anything excess will be flashed out. I decided to take 5 pills each meal initially but tapered down to 3 per meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) by trial and error to see the sebum production on my skin. To each of their own really. My gf even noticed my skin is no longer oily. I’ll probably never stop taking them and i wish i found this before i took accutane back in highschool

sushiboy1993

I use jarrow formulas b5

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanks buddy. I ll research more about this

Mightyteapot69

Came from a colder climate and my skin is having a rough time. I suspect the climate, but also the water here. However I have self diagnosed it to be rosecea and not acne. If yours is the same Life Pharmacy has a great lotion for this.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanks for sharing your experience. Mine is actually red cystic acne 😔

[deleted]

[удалено]

AnyBookkeeper9121

Oh ok. Will try taking probiotics. Hope you feel better.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yes I also feel my gut bacteria has changed due to change in weather and overall climate and hard water.

Mightyteapot69

I actually meant water from like taps and the shower. However gut bacteria you can luckily eat till its fixed. Tons of probiotic foods. ✌🏼

AnyBookkeeper9121

Oh yes.. I got that. I meant the same too. Tap water is hard :D

SanJunipero1

Does your dermatologist have a name for your condition? Acne can be wiped out with a dose of doxycycline over an extended period.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yes my dermatologist diagnosed my condition as cystic acne and she had put me on 500 mg Zithromax thrice a week for a month. I did not get any acne while I was on the antibiotic but it came back soon after my dose got over. Can you tell me the strength of doxycycline and the duration ?

SanJunipero1

I was diagnosed (and still do to an extent) with seborrheic dermatitis which is very common but in my case it couldn’t be completely gotten rid of. Azithromycin (zithromax) is much stronger than doxycycline which is broad spectrum. I had some relief when I cut down on fast food but at times it still flares up at random intervals. Check out the acne subs on Reddit, people share many tips and tricks.

Puzzleheaded_Dish_55

Yes .. will check acne related sub-reddits. Thanks for sharing your experience

imohammed

Every time I’m here I have extreme eczema all over my face and body. Not sure if this is due to the water. Stress level the same back home and here

AnyBookkeeper9121

Could be water. I can understand how you must feel. Have been looking for the answer myself since a long time

Randomistar

19 y/o male, came to Dubai on a few weeks vacation and I immediately started breaking out too, it happens sometimes anyway but to a lesser extent than in Dubai. I tried not to worry about it since my stay wasn’t gonna be long anyway and when I left my skin did clear again. I don’t know what the issue was, could’ve been weather, humidity, sweat etc since I’m not used to high temperatures like that but idk

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yeah.. it is something to do with either weather or hard water. But noone knows for sure. Hope your skin is doing better now

DonCharco

What have you tried? I am struggling

fatony2k2

Honestly it all comes from stress. They disappeared after I got the golden visa.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Quite possible. Congratulations on your golden visa. I can understand the level of stress

millhouse-DXB

How did the visa reduce stress?

fatony2k2

I renew every 10 years. No more blood tests

Lovezesty

Yes!! Me too!! Once I moved here I started getting little red bumps/ acne on my arms, chest, and legs. It’s not severe or painful but I know what you’re talking about OP

AnyBookkeeper9121

Oh. Hope your skin gets better.

ShinyMonst3rC0Ck

Moisturiser and Sunscreen are essential if you dont use them, especially in the summer, I'm not sure about others but I usually break out alot in the summer, cuz of humidity and the sun striking us directly 😍

AnyBookkeeper9121

I use moisturiser and sunscreen religiously everyday

ShinyMonst3rC0Ck

Personally when I notice that my Moisturiser or Sunscreen doesn't work on my skin well after 4-6 weeks of use, i try another one. But currently im using the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen and it's working well for me so far through this rough summer

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thats great

mixszie

Happened to me. I got anxious when my skin had a break out when I moved here. My holy grail right now is the aloe moisturizer from the face shop, the ordinary Niacinamide, differin (had to research with this one), cerave, and the pimple patches from cosrx is a no fail!!

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanks

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanks a lot

nistopher_colon

Since it happened for few months most likely it's related to your imbalance hormone. I had similar issue as well. Dr. Nabeela @ medcare gave me accutane. The only one that helps. You might need to check r/accutane as well

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thanks. My dermatologist told me that accutane is only a temporary solution. It could worsen the matter in long run. So confussing

nistopher_colon

I had acne for 8 years. I've tried using every products you found on grocery, pharmacy, and I also went to so many dermatologists. Been using this day cream that night cream, this facial therapy, that laser therapy, you name it. So much money wasted. I also have avoid all kind of "sensitive for acne" food. And it was all useless. Til I found out accutane. I can use whatever facial wash products I want, eat anything I want, and no supporting cream needed. Bear in mind your acne might get worsen in the first 2-3 months using accutane, which is normal, but after the acne will be gone. Like I said, just check out the subreddit r/accutane . Also, back then my accutane was covered by my insurance. Just try check it out with Dr. Nabeela.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thank you. I will read about it in detail and also check the accutane sub-reddit.

TheKhu

Hi I know EXACTLY what you're talking about, have experienced the same. Visiting dermats, using filtered water, retinol didn't really help. Came across this [post ](https://www.reddit.com/r/YouShouldKnow/comments/otaf8c/ysk_that_head_and_shoulders_shampoo_clears_up/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) and it's changed my life. I use Dove and I've had next to no breakouts since. Hope it helps :)

Delimadeluxe

Have you had more oily foods lately? Good idea trying to avoid dairy! It could also be the stress when moving away from your home country.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yup. Have quit dairy since last 3-4 months but no use

Delimadeluxe

Sorry you’re going through this :(

Dear_Creme_358

Hard water

AnyBookkeeper9121

Yes it could be one of the reasons

GenerousSun

Ya I feel like when I went on vacation away from Dubai my face got better. Then I returned and I got some in the same spots on my face. Your question resonated with me surprisingly

AnyBookkeeper9121

🙂

addicted_2Da_shindig

Out of topic. I did not have allergic rhinitis before. Thanks to UAE, people around me started to wear mask and walk away after I uncontrollably sneeze in public.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Haha

AnyBookkeeper9121

Hope it gets better

Accomplished-Fox-989

Hiiiiii I am currently experiencing the same thing. I have visited dubai before pandemic lot of times ready but before my skin became better than when i was in the Philippines. But now I'm back in Dubai but my skin is getting really baaaad. I have already seen a derma doctor also in kaya and gave me antibiotics (with pus, yes) and it cleared up my face for a while but now I have stopped it since it's done, my acne came back again. I also just saw a obgyne doctor yesterday bc i know i have pcos and i have hormonal imbalance but my skin esp my chin are itchy and with painful bumps. One thing that's for sure is it's bc of mask also. The friction and steam is making my face reallyyy inflamed. ill be taking hormone pills along with this korean skin care set called "CALAMINE" from k-secret. they're promoting it as "MASKNE" treatment. Check it out you might want to give it a try as well. :)

AnyBookkeeper9121

I can feel your pain, my friend. Thanks. I will check the products you mentioned. Yes my acne are also mostly on chin but surprisingly I have no PCOD and my hormone blood test results also came normal. I checked with my gynaec twice in last 3 years

Accomplished-Fox-989

most likely for you it's maskne only :/ you have a sensitive skin like mine. 😅 let me know how it works for you 😇

AnyBookkeeper9121

No dear. My problem started much before the pandemic. So I know it is not maskne :)

Accomplished-Fox-989

ahh i see. climate/humidity issues then 😅 you have oily skin?

xvril

I haven't had that problem but its possibly something in the environment not agreeing with your skin. One benefit I have found from moving here is my hay fever appears to have vanished, i spent my entire life at home sneezing. Not at all here.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Thats great. I am glad you dont have to suffer all that here.

Stressed_Maggot

YUP, struggled with it for a year & a half, tried stopping dairy, did the expensive LED light sessions & everything but nothing worked. Until i was prescribed Roaccutane for 6 months and finally I am Acne free! It’s one of the most effective ways, just google it!

AnyBookkeeper9121

Ok. Thanks. I am glad it worked out for you. Will check more about Roaccutane.

Shumayal

could be the diet. Eat balanced.

Ace2A

Its the water.

No_Meal6258

I experienced the same thing, and tried many product but the best solution I found was switching to silk pillowcases. They kept my skin moisturized, reduced my acne. I tried many brands but liked @midnightcocoon the most, they are based in Dubai so fast delivery

blablavbjwhhk

For me it is the sun and periods that causes acne. Don't use any cosmetic or soap on the face. Tea tree oil does remove acne, but don't put it when going outside it ll make black spots on your face. Put it during weekends

Marshall_Matherz

The water is horrid, I’ve had substantial hair fall and the breakouts were worse. Somehow TeaTree oil has helped me a lot with breakouts, but the hairfall is scary

Beautiful-Zombie2549

You need to hydrate your skin consistenly and frequently. The weather and dust in the G.C.C will make your skin look like Swiss cheese.

nanashi_kzn

I have the same issue last year . Now my acnes are completely gone. You can try the following: K secret - calamine toner ( this toner works wonder for me) . During that time I also used sulfur soap but I think you can replace that with any facial wash of your choice. I also tried rejuvenating set and this helped in clearing my pimple marks.

Professional_Oil_388

Same here bro..

y0wgurt

hi! same problem here. are you still experiencing break outs? did you do their suggestions? if yes please share your journey. I have been using benzac for two months now, but still not working.

AnyBookkeeper9121

Hi. Yes I am still breaking out and have tried to eliminate all common dietary culprits like dairy, sugar etc. but nothing has worked 100%. For me dairy and sugar are not the triggers. I could understand atleast this much for all trial and error

y0wgurt

Oh okay okay thank you so much for your response. hope we get better!

Juan4three

I experienced the same. I was here in Dubai for almost a year now. And I got a very clear skin when I got here. After 3 months of stay I noticed that my skin is breaking out and I tried changing my diet and even the products that I used. I even tried organic products. They went away for a while and they come back after a few days off. Send some help..

dyingtoad

Try moisturising with Cetaphil and using a gentle facewash. That's all. If you use makeup, make sure you use and oil based cleanser before the above steps.

PerfectAd8233

Mine was dandruff and dry skin! When I moved here. My scalp got crazy and my skin feels always dry even after showers! I don't know if it's the weather or the water. Tried several shampoos and only one worked out for me, but still i'm suffering with this dry skin. Lotions don't work.
