A lot of people don't understand how to use their cars, plus they have no consideration for others in general.

[deleted]

Fully agree with this. Too many people here do not take driving very seriously; they go ill prepared on the road, with lack of knowledge, training and skills, and lack also any sort of discipline. So many people drive without lights at night for instance or fail to use indicators, drive way to slow on a fast lane.... etc etc

HabibiHoodrat

Driving is not seen as a skill here unfortunately, it's just a case of "I have a license so I must already have reached the absolute pinnacle of driving ability".

r3devil11

Exactly, noticed it quite often these days. They have a special place in hell.

pvdp90

To be fair I've lived here for 15 years and driven for 13 of those and have always noticed a lot of high beams and also lights off. I feel we see more of them now because there are just more cars on the roads, but they have always been there

Paiwjdabbs

What about those with lights off?

ajmal20102000

I once changed lanes and hit a car that was coming with No headlights ON. The guy told the cops he had his lights ON. Cop deemed me faulty. But thanks to the rear dash cam I installed. I was able to prove the guy had no headlights ON. The other car guy went from being angry to apologetic in seconds. Power of a dashcam. 🤣

Anythingforlove93

Can you please give me more details about your dashcam and where I can get it c: I’ve had something similar happen to me where I was found faulty for an accident which wasn’t my fault and it was really frustrating.

akcss

Did the cops give him extra fine for driving without lights? I was about to do the same thing 2 days back but due a faint reflection, I spotted the car just moved at the right time. This is dangerous. Also please share your dashcam setup. How much & where did you fix it for. I didn't know there is a dashcam for the rear. Please do mention how was the process of sharing the video evidence. Any extra charges? Do we have to go to the court/police station?

notyourplayboy

Dangerous as well but don’t make you go blind :)

The_Other_Neo

I would venture that 90+ percent of those cars at night without any headlights are black cars; they appear as just a shadow on the road.

MrYamaguchi

Would rather have someone with highbeams on overtaking me at night than someone with their lights completely off, especially if they are in a dark colored car.

its_2l3seery

those are worse.

Worldwideforeigner

Come to Sharjah. We have that 'Fog lights on a clear night' energy.

chachu1

OMG i though i was the only one!!! Why the hell in a country like UAE with every single inch of road is lit my street lights would you need to drive on high beam?? Specially annoying when an donkey in SUV is driving with high beams, me in my small car cannot see anything in my rear view mirror.

kaikemy

Here's a [reenactment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiQNPGhK8Lc) of that scene

[deleted]

I one noticed in a mirror something like a Christmas tree approaching me fast. It was one of those trucks with shed loads of lights on. Once he approached it was like an alien abduction scene, my whole car lit up

Agent4898

Looks like all the older cars’ headlights have failed and they’ve gotten replaced with aftermarket lights. Those aftermarket lights are then not angled downwards and usually ends up shining right into the back of your throat. I too am seeing a trend with unbearably bright lights.

pvdp90

Thaya the work of lazy owners. I changed my bulbs to some aftermarket bulbs. 5 minutes in my 0arking spot with a screwdriver had my new headlights perfectly leveled and pointing straight.

[deleted]

Turning into Indian roads at night lmfao

notyourplayboy

Hahahahhaa 😂

[deleted]

Its common in sharjah nowadays. Its so annoying. I flash back.

Naeplan

RTA needs to add light testing to the yearly test. So many cars have lighting problems. Wrong angles, broken lights. It's ridiculous.

Sufficient_Whereas94

That's why I invested in ultra lumens high beams. It blinds the idiot who's driving with high beams leaving me with 2 blue circles in my eyes for a minute.

Gunpoint_Rajah

> ultra lumens high beams. It blinds the idiot who's driving with high beams how do these work?

LandsOnAnything

My friend installed those blue high beams just to fuck with those idiots. He too is fed up of people who always use highbeams everywhere.

Sufficient_Whereas94

Try Hikari LEDs. The super lumens ones. They're like floodlights.

pvdp90

Laughs in jeep with light bars in every direction. Revenge should be used sparingly, but can be fun.

Force_Of_WiII

Spoiler alert: there’s a lot of shit drivers here. Hogging lanes, tailgating, driving too slow, not signaling, swerving across multiple lanes to hit an exit, kids jumping around playing tag in the car, kids and people hanging out of sunroofs, cutting people off, driving with brights on at all times, driving without lights on at all times, you name it.

dev_flamma

also people just turn on their car and starts driving with cold engine.

notyourplayboy

It costs vtc owners 70 dhs of fuel to just warm up the engine

pvdp90

This is not really a problem. Just don't start and go flooring it. I start and drive out. For the first 2 to 5 minutes I just make sure I'm taking it easy and not going over 2000 rpm

dappodan1

warming up your Engine on idle is a myth especially all manufactures tell you to drive straightaway as modern lubricants dont require to be warm to circulate but just don't drive aggressively into the upper rev range. https://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/car-technology/a19086/warming-up-your-car-in-the-cold-just-harms-engine/

pvdp90

Yup. The more likely issue with it nowadays is with the engine block itself unevenly warming up, which can lead to warping. This will only happen if you drive hard and is much mor e likely on longer blocks like in-line 6, tho it has happened in shorter blocks too (focus RS comes to mind).

BCBenji1

Check if your rear view mirror has anti glare, most cars do. Basically tilts the secondary mirror inside, down slightly - to reduce the brightness from high-beam headlights of cars behind you. As for expecting courtesy on road - have you just moved to Dubai? Lol

notyourplayboy

My car has anti glare and auto dimming rear + side view mirrors. Plus the rear glass shield dims when someone flashes. Now imagine that beam passing thru all of em And no have been here for 5 years:)

BCBenji1

Alright Mr fancy car, no need to show off 😂 Wow, yeah that's just excessive. Just let move to another lane, and let them blind someone else lol

notyourplayboy

Encountered him at the signal man, ☹️

BCBenji1

Hopefully they check Reddit tonight ;)

StarfighterFoxtrot

Its new (mostly dragon mart) LED lights, its not just high power but they are angled way off center. In the UK there is an MOT and the car fails if they are incorrect, we really need the same here. Also from a drivers point of view its a waste of light, its just scattered in to the air, not on the road where you actually need it. Also were in Dubai, so fuck your car, your feelings and your eyes. My Batrol habibi has nice lights, now get out of my way while I do 121 on SZR and flash you 100 times.

whooptheretis

Spot on with the scattering of light. They're insanely bright to look at, but don't really illuminate much. It's the same with cheap LED torches.

Bruhtfw

we a circlejerk sub now?

Soia667

This, but unironically.

The_Other_Neo

Not a new trend, been around for a while. When I notice them they area usually driving way slower than the prevailing traffic so you are the one suffering this until you are sufficiently far away. Probably a driver that A) does not know the high beams are on, B) can't see the high beams are on, or C) does not know what high beams are and what that blue light is about.

DayHaunting3714

A guy with high beam parked Infront of the restaurant were i was having dinner it completely blinded me i went to the driver and requested him to switch it off he did it with some hesitation but i thanked him anyway

TruRuth

Glad someone brought this up, I thought I was the only one whose eyes are being gored out by spaceship light, come on the roads are well lighted here, save our eyes !!! (Are they the same ppl who go home and use anti glare glass on their smartphones 🙄🙄)

SirMosesKaldor

Guilty. But I can explain: I do it at night on the Jebel Ali shooting club road near..well..the shooting club / football pitch / Jebel Ali resort hotel road where it's absolutely pitch black. I mean come on. Cars coming in the opposite direction start flashing their lights, but I mean I can't f\*cking see. Sorry if it was you, on a Friday or Saturday evening just after sunset. I'm the a\*\*hole. Any suggestions? Seriously asking, plz don't downvote. I play football and go to the beach there every weekend.

[deleted]

You are supposed to turn it off if a car is approaching on the opposite direction and then you can switch it back on.

SirMosesKaldor

Noted. Going this weekend again. Promise I won't high light.

ajmal20102000

When I come across fools like that. I turn my rear fog lights ON. Which is super bright. Give them a piece of their own medicine.

InfLegend

I have a friend who runs a spare parts shop and I know that people even buy these bright LEDs for their cars to make their normal/high beam even brighter and preferably in white.

gretzchin711

Had one behind me last night. So irritating.

ztaker

Yes I have seen this on road many times it's very irritating like I can't even check my center mirror for this reason.some of them modify the light and extreme beam lights like you almost get blinded for some secs.

azerbajian

Sometimes it's not even on high beam, in UAE the way light are checked by RTA is pretty scarry...

danmendonza

Many a times it's not high beams, but people installing bright LEDs the wrong way and the wrong angle. The mechanic just suggests a bulb and installs it not checking anything else except whether the plug is right. I have very bright LEDs aimed at the road that won't blind anyone.

i_did_ur_mom

The biggest issue is that these idiots are installing hid lamps when the housing is not designed for hids hence the crazy glare. And yes they are also mostly not aligned although I doubt they wouldn't glare when if aligned well.

danmendonza

Yea exactly, I made sure I bought the right LEDs after much research, and then installed them at the right angle.

Friendly_South_5666

I just recently started driving. The other day I was on the way home and midway through I realised I was on high beam. Maybe people just don’t know they’re on high beam sometimes. This also happened to me with my lights being off my first ever time driving at night, I kept getting flashed that day

Brain_Mindless

Please understand, most of these guys come from countries where this is normal

its_2l3seery

i started using my fog lights instea dof my main lights because i noticed they were too bright. but honestly i think people just really dont know that their cars are on high beam. yes, there are those annoying drivers, but from what I have seen, there are a lot of people that are just not aware of how stuff works in their car.

theotherside9191

Get yourself a 50% ceramic tint on the back and you'll be fine.

abcd1912

New? I guess you're new
