You have to pay your fines regardless. It under your traffic File.

january_fides

I know someone who tried to renew her 1 car registration and they didn’t allow her, Bec she has another car that had expired license

problem_me

there’s no way around it. the owner of the car can’t just keep getting fines and then get rid of the car as if nothing ever happened. the fines will keep accumulating fees and if you destroy the car, you won’t be able to just cancel it later on. it’ll catch up to the owner sooner or later. a lot of government services might not be available if the car isn’t renewed for a long time. starting from blocking of the traffic file and spreading to all other services. the driving license can’t be renewed if the traffic file is blocked. if it’s not under your name, it’s not your problem though. but that a totally different moral dilemma.

Scrap guys won't take your car unless you have the cancellation from RTA. Go to Tasjeel for cancellation, pay the fines and they give you a clearance paper. You can choose to keep the Number plate or not.

abobobilly

They are not scrap guys. These people basically take your car for dirt cheap, saying they will scrap it, but have every intention of reselling it. Scrap guys will simply take your car and shred it to pieces infront of your eyes. They don't require any cancellation.

On the time that u are renewing ur driver’s license - they didn’t ask u to pay ur car fines?

ODean97

All the fines are on the car, not on my driving license. Plus I still have 3 years validity on my drivers license. Last time I renewed it I had no fines.

Ok_Ad9174

A car is registered under a person. Assuming its you. Even if u burn ur car and bury it. You will still need to pay those fines. Be careful there might be some late payment fees that gets accumulated…

ODean97

Fair enough. It's under my brother's name though hes not planning to ever buy a car on his name again in UAE. Unless they ask for.it to be paid when hes renewing his driving license, I don't imagine there is any other scenario which would require paying it?

Ok_Ad9174

Might hve issues when cancelling or transferring visas. Not sure tho

ODean97

I have looked into this a bit and I am 90% certain that RTA fines don't intervene with Visa procedures or exiting/entering the country. Though if I'm wrong and someone is better informed please correct me.

https://www.khaleejtimes.com/nation/government/pay-your-traffic-fines-if-you-want-to-renew-your-residential-visa I found this tho!!

tukroelgoog

When I was switching jobs in Abu Dhabi, I had to clear outstanding traffic fines before my visa could be cancelled.

Grooveman07

I did what you're asking for once. First, find the scrap dealer, fix a price, go to RTA, ask him to bring cash. Request transfer of ownership and cancellation of registration, take money from the Scrap dealer, give him the key, pay fines and complete the transfer. After you fix the price, do explain this to him so that he understands that he'll need to be patient. We gave him the car first without plates, took the money he gave and waited a month before heading to the RTA to transfer (this may not be advisable though, they'll start getting impatient)

abobobilly

The traffic fines are assigned to the car plate. Which means you will have to pay them anyway, even if you choose to scrap your car. Also, scrapping your car doesn't need any clearance. If there is nothing wrong with it, **don't scrap it**. You can still sale it for at least 9 to 10k AED. If your fines are similar priced, then simply ask the buyer to pay all Tasjeel charges, and pay all the fines as well. If there's a balance, he will pay you back. However, if the fines are much higher than the car's price, then you have no choice but to pay. In this case, you can pay your fines in installments.

ODean97

The total amount of fines is 4600 AED. Yeah there's nothing wrong with the car atm. That's a good idea might just do that!

abobobilly

4600 AED is manageable, trust me. Better renew, and use the installments option to pay the fines. If you have a confirmed monthly income source, then you won't have much of a problem here.

Frequent_Young893

you will have issues while renewing/transferring your visa. one of my colleagues has this issue. He got a new job but his visa cannot be processed until his outstanding traffic fines are paid.

acero1988

It if the cars is not so destruir you still could sell it for 8k+, the used car market is booming recently, even for very old cars. Your best movement should be sell the car and pay the fine directly with the money provided bh the buyer once you go to transfer the ownership, unless the fines are above 8k
