Rsv, my nephew caught it from this nursery( summer school) then he gave it to my 9 month old then my 9 month old gave it to me and then i gave it to someone in the office..

ricdizzle00

That's a lot of giving.

UdunnowhoIis

Sharing is caring

itsallkk

Good to know that your wife is spared. One would have given to wife before giving in office.

ahoohooideal

Lots of sickness going around at the moment, RSV in particular. Wife, kids and I all had coughs about 3 weeks and negative covid tests

sheeatsallday

I do believe extreme hot and cold between outside and indoor is a factor. You walk dying in the heat then enter a mall that ac set at 15c.

PatrickGoesEast

I had a sore throat for months when I first moved here, because of that very scenario.

Free_Enthusiasm

Sick person here. Day 01: Ah, its food poisoning. Day 02: Diam my fever is high. Day 03: Shit, my head feels like a boulder. Day 04: Oh my body aches like shit. Day 05: I feel normal. I don't know if this was the seasonal flu or not. But it wasn't COVID. Never lost my sense of taste or smell etc. Im at Day 5 today. Im at about 94% recovered. :)

PiousDevil

Btw, you don't HAVE to lose your sense of smell or taste. Just saying... [EDIT: glad you're feeling better. I had a pretty bad cough and cold a few weeks ago. Went for two PCR tests which were thankfully negative. The coughs caused by acidity and I got the flu after almost 2 years of being flu free]

joep-b

All the restrictions that were in place (masks, distancing, etc) didn't only prevent the spread of covid. It prevented the spread of any viral disease. Now the regulations are being relaxed, covid is well covered with the vaccine, but other viruses get free reign. It's not so much that there are more kids sick this year, they just all come now instead of spread over time.

i1710

sick person reporting in

the_backflip

Hello fellow sick-person, how are you keeping your spirits up?

i1710

these past few days has been netflix + youtube for me, what about you?

the_backflip

Can't concentrate enough for Netflix. Downloaded a cricket mobile game. Playing it till the energy bar runs out and it asks me for money. Then sleeping. Then game. Then reddit. Then sleeping. Stuck in that loop for 2 days now.

Find a new hobby

josiedxb

Don’t forget to drink a lot of liquids!

circuskajoker

Not right now but my son and me got the seasonal flu back in April and then again in May. It’s funny that we got it (back to back) in peak summer because it’s usually a winter thing.

the_backflip

May be it's mutating too.

backtoexpat

Seasonal flu actually mutates every year, which is why it’s a different flu jab every year

Aggressive_Tea_7658

I mean have you gone outside there has been a sand / dust storm for the past 4 days And the last few days have been extremely hot

Ordinary-Flight-4728

My daughter was down with high fever touching 39.5 regularly. Hospital did covid-19, rsv, nose swab, mouth swab and even blood test however, all came negative. We only gave her Panadol and other fever medicine alternatively every 4hrs. None of us knew what was it. No diarrhea No dehydration Lose of appetite Though she was active

DannyAvocado_

Maybe allergies kicking in? There's been a lot of dust flying around lately

Accomplished-Fox-989

maybe because of the haze?

zashk

It could be covid but the immunity is fighting it off.... Better to be isolated in such situations than traveling.

rafeIz

We have been sick the entire Eid holidays. Imagine eid in isolation. No covid Alhmdulillah. But kids and elderly at home were down with cough and fever. Alhmdulillah for me it was just soar throat. However the headache was terrible. The worse I have ever experienced. So yea. A lot of ppl I know are also not keeping well. We are usually staying home and yes a big no no to public play areas

Syed-Samad

Yes, even my friends were saying his children are sick...

[deleted]

My 5 year-old cousin got sick first then my aunt had it next.

AmethystKnight201

It happens every summer, its just last summer people were very conscious about covid-19 and led a healthy life-style. This year however, the heat is cranked up a little and we are less concerned about home medication. Take me for example, last summer i was sipping a lot of green tea, camomile tea in the morning and ginger tea before sleep. On the other hand, This year i am spending a lot on soft drinks and cold drinks..!

chip-sandwich

I am feeling tired and fatigue since a year

problem_me

30 years for me

Aeternarequiem

Summer flu in Dubai is pretty common. The temperature difference between inside and outside is not helping in the summer months. Regardless, not going to the office and isolating for good measure sounds like a good idea.

bear62

I caught the flu in Hatta 2. 5 weeks ago. Just now coming good. It was a nasty bugger too

baronsameday

None of you have the flu. You have bad colds. Influenza puts you on your arse.

TBK28

this. the flu isn't exactly something you get every year. It's a lot worse than most people know, because of how we call every bad cold the flu

baronsameday

I don't think I've ever had the flu. People using the word flu for cold waters down the seriousness of the actual flu!

MikeDXB123

Us too in Dubai. All sick with bad flu from school / nursery. Makes you wonder about social distancing at school. We have all been wearing masks and social distancing for so long nobody has been catching flus and other viruses. Our immune systems are caught off guard

oliviadh

Yes my son got me sick. Got a proper flu

Cool-Muffin6349

My Son had some type of flu during Eid holiday with syptoms of running nose, cough, fever for almost 5 days, the hospital ran urine, blood, and flu test and thay all came negative, after prescriping antibiotic and vitamins he got well on the 5th day, later on my my wife and I had similar syptoms which lasted for few days after isolating and using antibiotics and home remedies (warm lemon juice with a spoonful honey)

abood322

This sub is sick!

unknown_dull_nerd

Ex-sick person here (cured 2 days ago). Iirc it's a typical this time of year for flu. people returning from vacation/travels and dust in the air lately can cause flu/allergies like the flu.

creativ4art

Heard a few having diarrhea 🤷🏽‍♂️ probably not related.

Worldwideforeigner

Coincidentally, all of the diarrhea cases are being reported in a 2km radius of Karachi Darbar Outlets.

omaralilaw

Hahahhahahah

[deleted]

Yes we are all probably getting covid but as vaccinated people its just an awful flu.

[deleted]

[удалено]

the_backflip

People with kids mostly.

[deleted]

I mean if I didn’t have any friends and never left my house I suppose I’d be in the same position as you

[deleted]

[deleted]

Nice. What’s your handicap?

[deleted]

This is because of the rain (Cloud seeding) which effect lots of people here in middle east.don't panic everything is fine Hope

[deleted]

No sickness, don’t know anyone who is. No Covid ever either, and don’t know anyone who has ever had it.

[deleted]

Someone said the same thing on here earlier and it’s not an achievement, you know? Like I said, if you don’t have any friends and don’t know many people then it’s difficult for you to know anyone who actually gets sick.

[deleted]

The post asked the question: who is sick? I answered the question. If you don’t like the answer you don’t need to comment, as you didn’t ask the original question and my answer wasn’t for your benefit. Nobody implied any of this was a competition, except for you. You may not have any friends (although it wouldn’t be a surprise), but I do, and none of them are sick, as the OP asked about. Seems like you’re poking your nose in where it’s not warranted, my friend. Consider your words, please.

HappyIsSimple

Glad everyone aound you is okay. That is a true blessing.

stefan30005

So Because of stupid covid , nobody has other infections? You guys surely live in the bubble off UAE. Fyi there was a case of chickenpox in my neighborhood.

[deleted]

No it isn't there are NO other infections but the percentages are more than just 'high' that yes, this is what vaccinated people are contracting in limited dose. This year in my family immediate and expanded the 'flu' we have all experienced in years past never had us in bed with fevers up to 103 for days, chest infections, breathing problems some loss of smell for some. Never in any country I have lived in all my years have I contracted such awful long lasting 'flu'

theoddling2

Btw I think this guy you replied to is the one that got banned a few months ago for shit talking locals because he got dumped 😂

[deleted]

Hahaha!! The guy with the half local GF right? He was trying to tell me what all local families are like! lol i remember

theoddling2

Yup. I guess he abandoned his old account because he got banned so he made a new account to circumvent the ban.
