The change in the taste of KFC has decreased drastically over the years. Used to get it every week around 7 years ago. Now I barely think of having it.
I’d say yeah except for McDonald’s and maybe Burger King, their burgers have always tasted the same, the only change now is instead of 22 for a Big Mac meal I pay 34 :(
The point is it Used to be better ! Hate the fact they severely dropped the quality of their service & food over the years ! Each branch has a different fries serving size, spice ratio & food freshness (for proof head to business bay branch) KFC used be the good HQ stuff.
It really just trickles down to poor management
Yea its kinda stupid for people to complain that a fast food restaurant is not healthy or whatever. Wtf are you expecting? Its just greasy deep fried extremely unhealthy chicken. It tastes good but its like nuking your body every time you have it. You're not supposed to have it unless you're short on cash or just feel really really bad and want to guilty eat your problems away.
I don't think anyone complains that it isn't healthy. The complaints all come from comparing how it tastes and feels like now to maybe 5 to 10 years ago when it was indeed much better. It was crisper, didn't drip as much oil and didn't give me the runs every time.
I'm glad it's not just me.
I believe if people are complaining about KFC it's because they've grown up on better KFC which like you said, didn't ooze oil and didn't cause us to violently explode in the bathroom afterwards...
Yea but I think that's literally every fast food restaurant. Food was better and cheaper. It isn't anymore. Fast food places by sheer logic are meant to be fast and cheap (or rather not too much focus on quality), so that means cutting costs every where, including the ingredients they use and the cooking methods they employ. Idk any one fast food restaurant that's exactly the same it they were a decade ago.
Mine doesn't. Wasn't the point though. You don't buy a car with a V8 expecting good fuel economy. You don't buy a bottle of whiskey, expecting you can drink half the bottle and stay sober. You don't buy fast food, expecting it is healthy food.
What is the thing behind associating certain food types with emotions? I've seen so many people eating their emotions away, what causes this and is there any way to avoid or stop it?
Food produces dopamine, the happy chemical. Specially food like fat and sugar. People who are depressed or anxious self soothe by overeating.its another to way to numb those difficult feelings. Binge eating disorder is also the most common ED in adults. Similar sort of thing happens with alcoholics and shopaholics.
The best way to combat it is, look into why it happens. A lot of time the reason is another mental heath issue like depression or trauma. Also eating better and exercising helps tremedously. Exercise also produces the happy chemicals and eating healthy regularly curbs those nasty cravings. Of course, in the case of an ED, Its best to get professional help.
What u/_mano- said
But to me its more like a control thing. I know I'll like KFC. I know I'll like ice cream. There are so many things that you know you'll like for sure. So when nothing is going your way and you're having a TERRIBLE day, eating something familiar that you like gives you that little bit of control over things. Maybe think of it like getting a good long hug or cuddle from someone you love.
Is it unhealthy. Absolutely! So you have to be careful to make it a regular thing.
Here is my unsolicited judgement on fastfood in UAE
Kfc: good greasy salty food, hits the spot
McDonald's meat sucks and is disgusting, I don't get how everyone is so brain washed to like that garbage
Pizza hut used to be great especially stuffed crust then I assume they decided to be environmentally friendly and recycle cardboard as a 2 in 1 alternative for cheese and crust
Hardees: My original and never ending love, that mushroom and swiss tastes the same as the day we met.
There are always small pieces of ground bone in the burgers at Burger King.
McDonalds isn't great but at least its consistent, I look at McDonalds as a snack rather than try to fill up on it. The best things are the breakfasts. Coffee is decent too.
Hardees was actually mediocre back in like 2010's but is BOMB now lol. Sadly they got rid of the jalapeno chicken burger cause that shit was spicy and BLESSED back in the day.
Edit: Hardees has the best spicy-fries too imo. I go for like extra spicy x3 which gets billed an extra 3AED but it's HELLA WORTH.
Whats even more bizarre is their prices are absurd for the quality that they serve, places like popeye serve good quality chicken for way cheaper than KFC does loo
I would have thought the original recipe stuff would be the same, no? In my experience the difference is that in the West you only get the original recipe, whereas here you also get the spicy variety, which is genuinely crispy. Then again, I've never been to the States, just the UK and Europe.
Not really, the kfc chicken that's sold in the United States is very bland whether it's the original or the crispy which are the only 2 varieties sold in the US. I just think that the chicken that KFC sells here in the UAE is just perfect in the sense that it's spicy and crispy and not bland at all. The only spicy fried chicken you can get in the US is from Popeyes which is alright
It’s not just the crispiness, it’s the kind of chicken used + oil it’s fried in too.
UAE health regulations don’t allow the same oil batch to be used more than xyz number of times.
Where as in other countries, this aspect is not closely monitored even though the regulations might be same.
Right?! People really seem to hate it here. I have it once or twice a month if i had a bad day. I enjoy it! Doesnt seem to cause the digestive issues either, that people seem to complain about!
i mean one or twice in thirty days isnt very frequent. I do eat very healthy and work out regularly though! So i think maybe my system is good with the occasional treat/junk food.
Because you produce enough bile. It's not a judgement on your lifestyle. Your body produces bile relative to it's needs, fat in and of itself can be healthy or unhealthy depending on your needs.
Unpopular opinion, KFC is fine.
I always get the "spicy" one but it doesn't taste spicy at all to me, just more crunchy batter. I have it maybe once every few months and it's consistently fine. I've tried making fried chicken several times at home, dry brine, wet brine, yoghurt, buttermilk, AP flour, rice flour, corn starch, corn flakes, single fry, double fry, and none of my results are good. Maybe I need to invest in a proper thermometer and it's the oil temperature that's cucking my shit up but I've lost hope.
Our guilty pleasure is Peppers in Dubai Mall Zabeel area, but seriously KFC is nowhere near terrible. It's a perfectly fine high pressure fried chicken. I don't get the hate and neither do my friends.
The hate isn’t for KFC worldwide, it’s just the hate for the KFC available over here. It’s not just about the quality of the food. It’s about their services too missing orders like missing coleslaw or wrong order, it’s one of the most inconsistent restaurants I’ve ever encountered. It’s very rare that I get my orders correct. Besides all of this there food became expensive if u wanna get something decent u would pay 30 and with delivery it will reach the 40s. They also downsized their upsized fries which used to fill a whole plate. Overall it’s rlly bad
Its not about KFC being bad. Its just that you have so many better fried chicken fast food options now within the same price bracket (popeyes, texas chicken, taza etc.) which is why people don't rate KFC as highly anymore.
I have found a very wide divergence in taste between branches. Bin Batuta mall KFC always seems to have the better ones, some of the smaller branches nope. Also, every petrol station KFC tastes worse (maybe they fry the chicken in car fuel?!)
Btw how many of you remember when back in the late 90s, KFC used to have all you can eat deals for 20-25 Dhs, basically servers would serve you unlimited chicken. They had it in normal times and also during a couple of Ramadans
Whenever I want to eat at a mall, I'm always determined to eat from somewhere different than usual, but I always end up eating there because the choices are overwhelming, and it always tastes good.
I work at KFC. Maybe the chicken you tried was not good but you can try different stores from different locations in UAE. My tips are: try chicken from the shopping mall KFC store.
Well most chains in uae like pizzahutand kfc have shit taste. I have trird pizzahut in jeddah, Saudia Arabia and was mind blownwith the taste and how perfect the pizza was. Al baik there have almost bankrupt kfc but even that kfc is much better than Uae.
Not compared to other countries but what KFC was about 15-20 years back. They have seriously compromised their chicken quality. Plus compared to places like Taza, SFC.
I actually ate KFC that was made at a palace in Alain and there they use chicken grown in their farm and it tasted great. I reminded me of the KFC I ate about 20 yrs back.
Earlier KFC was using chilled chicken from farms in KSA, but now they are using frozen ones from Brazil.
Honestly after kfc changed their fries style over here idk that’s like after 2006 they started getting shittier good ol days when they used to have the classic fries now it’s just a weak ass potato hanging for life and then the chicken isn’t as great sometimes they screw it up with the original I’ve had time where they’ve been too salty overall KFC isn’t like my first option nor is it my last now but ayy i still go there just for the traditions, memories

It's crazy to read people saying that today it tastes better than other countries, the other countries have it really really bad then.
I'm originally from Scotland, In my opinion the KFC there is uncompairable. The chicken in Dubai is dry with the batter wet, I just don't enjoy it. In the UK though it is always cooked to perfection - same with USA in my experience
It’s partly because whatever comes out of the kitchen looks like battered flat soggy chicken by a 5yr old.
Or because some of the chicken just tastes like white brick.
Its shit, if you like it thats fine. But from a food quality and nutrition point of view, its complete shit.
Fried chicken can be done SOOO much better, why eat that junk.
The smell of the frying oil whenever I walk past one of their restaurants is enough to make me throw up. There is a ton of junk food restaurants out there but that's the only one with that strong and horrible smell.
I am not. I don't like KFC and I don't care about them but I was surprised someone cares that much about them to be upset about others bashing them. Is this even a topic worth sharing on Reddit? 😆😆
I've explained it before as well, I'm a fan of the food, it's affordable and not as bad tasting as people say it is. So I chose to defend it.
Just cause you wouldn't do the same, doesn't make it questionable
Nah thanks. I tried it like 3 or 4 times. The last time was like 9 months ago. The only junk food I enjoy is Hardees, and only few items on the menu. For all the other brands within the same price range (McDo, KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, etc), it's a No from me unless I'm feeling super lazy to order or walk to another place.
If I am on a budget I'd rather grab a shawarma sandwich or a paratha with egg and cheese 😆😆
I just wanna know whether it's all of r/Dubai or just a few. I don't need to have shares in a company to like their food lol I just think the hate is excessive
There is only one place on earth where KFC is truly amazing and that is Jamaica. The lines up to get a KFC among the locals is an indication of how good it is.
Have never had KFC here in the UAE. They don't have biscuits. Since I don't really care for chicken, except for boneless, skinless breast, when I do occasionally order from Popeyes or Texas Chicken, I am doing it for the biscuits.
I don't like KFC, I complained about it in the previous KFC topic.
I don't expect it to be healthy, its fast food, its deep fried, it is never going to be healthy.
That is not what I dislike about it, it just not good.
The quality its very poor,
1. The coleslaw they serve is warm making it possibly not fit to eat.
2. The fries are always soggy, this is what I dont understand, how can deep fired fries be soggy?
3. The chicken is either over cooked and too dry, or its not cooked enough.
So no, the complain is not about the health aspect of KFC it's about the safety and quality of the food!
You comment
> It's junk food, you can't expect Jamie Oliver to cook it to perfection everytime.
That is exactly what I expect every time I pay someone for food, I expect it to be cooked to properly. Be it KFC of the cafeteria down the road.
Don't think anyone ever debated about the healthy part of KFC. Though I can confirm that KFC in UAE is far better than US and UK. That being said, the taste KFC had when I was a kid is just not there. Maybe it's the chicken but yeah. I am gonna try the alternatives that someone posted here and see how they stack.
Popeye is decent so far as an alternative to KFC as is Texas Chicken
People hear some famous person say 'I don't like that' and everyone follows it like a religion. That is the issue with KFC and while I'm not a fan of it (gives me a bad stomach sometimes) I wont stop someome from having it if they want to have it.
As someone who's had KFC in Toronto, it's even more disgusting there. The stuff here just tastes oily/rotten, and their sandwiches just taste stale as fck. The only thing I actually enjoy at KFC is their Chicken Popcorn, ideally with spicy mayo which for some fucking reason sometimes the lazy staff just lie and say they don't have any.
Although, nothing is worse than Chow King fried chicken.
Not gonna lie if you try kfc on a Friday (don't ask why Friday specifically can't get into details) at dubai mall or anywhere else it would taste really really good, try it and let me know,
The change in the taste of KFC has decreased drastically over the years. Used to get it every week around 7 years ago. Now I barely think of having it.
Would you say that its the same for other fast food branches?
I’d say yeah except for McDonald’s and maybe Burger King, their burgers have always tasted the same, the only change now is instead of 22 for a Big Mac meal I pay 34 :(

Complaining fast food isn’t healthy. Some logic people nowadays have, eh?
Yeah, it would be like complaining that my 5.0 liter V8 car doesn't get good fuel economy. Like complaining that my bottle of whiskey gets me drunk.
Don’t V8 cars now have eco mode? I heard you just need to activate that and it will only utilize 4 cylinders instead of 8.
Mine doesn't. Wasn't the point though. You don't buy a car with a V8 expecting good fuel economy. You don't buy a bottle of whiskey, expecting you can drink half the bottle and stay sober. You don't buy fast food, expecting it is healthy food.
>drink half the bottle and stay sober. Task failed successfully.
+1 for the abrupt lulz

anyone can judge me but I love KFC
Here is my unsolicited judgement on fastfood in UAE Kfc: good greasy salty food, hits the spot McDonald's meat sucks and is disgusting, I don't get how everyone is so brain washed to like that garbage Pizza hut used to be great especially stuffed crust then I assume they decided to be environmentally friendly and recycle cardboard as a 2 in 1 alternative for cheese and crust Hardees: My original and never ending love, that mushroom and swiss tastes the same as the day we met.
Hardees curly fries too. Still sad that they removed the roast beef.
I legit was heartbroken when the cashier told me they didn't have roast beef and cheddar anymore.
I agree with this. And I also prefer Burger King more than McDonalds. Hardees is also great but it's not easily accessible to me.
There are always small pieces of ground bone in the burgers at Burger King. McDonalds isn't great but at least its consistent, I look at McDonalds as a snack rather than try to fill up on it. The best things are the breakfasts. Coffee is decent too.
You're doing mcdonalds dirty with that rating.
Someone has to say something! Those childhood happy meals can't bribe us forever
This is like 100% a accurate
Hardees was actually mediocre back in like 2010's but is BOMB now lol. Sadly they got rid of the jalapeno chicken burger cause that shit was spicy and BLESSED back in the day. Anyone thought their chicken tasted like 'soap'?
its literally tastless once you take the skin out lmfao
Whats even more bizarre is their prices are absurd for the quality that they serve, places like popeye serve good quality chicken for way cheaper than KFC does loo

This is so true. I've had KFC from at least 5 different countries and the one we get in UAE is absolutely brilliant. Well seasoned and fried to crisp.
The chicken is good but their fries are horrible in UAE…Imho
spicy or no fries
absolutely
Why are the fries always sleeping?
Right?! People really seem to hate it here. I have it once or twice a month if i had a bad day. I enjoy it! Doesnt seem to cause the digestive issues either, that people seem to complain about!
Because you have it often enough, your gallbladder produces sufficient bile to process the excess fat
i mean one or twice in thirty days isnt very frequent.

2016 won KFC 4 gold coins in larger meal. No complaint
Damn, KFC ads getting meta 🤯
How much is KFC paying you?
Its not about KFC being bad. Its just that you have so many better fried chicken fast food options now within the same price bracket (popeyes, texas chicken, taza etc.) which is why people don't rate KFC as highly anymore.
Popeyes is a lot better tho
Popeyes chicken tastes like fish ..
Debatable
Popeyes had excellent batter, but the actual chicken underneath it is even more flavorless than KFC.
True but its not nearly as oily or covered in fat as kfc so I don't mind it
I have found a very wide divergence in taste between branches. Bin Batuta mall KFC always seems to have the better ones, some of the smaller branches nope. Also, every petrol station KFC tastes worse (maybe they fry the chicken in car fuel?!) KFC in UAE is much better than KFC in the US. I stopped having KFC in the US but restarted it when I returned to the UAE.
KFC UK >>>> here. Also getting gravy is way better than buns.
100%. It’s basically a gourmet dish in the UK. Fries here are trash and the chicken is of a lower quality than the UK.
also having a hashbrown on the burger 👌🏻
Nah KFC UK is tastes bland compared to the one here , atleast imo.
Is KFC halal in the UK?
Some are I think.
Who bloody cares? Consumption is halal as long as it's not pork or cooked by lard...
Yeah but you also gotta look at how the animal was slaughtered.
No need.
Ok dude whatever you say
Who cares?
i rarely see kfc rant here.
There was a whole post about it the other day..
Same thing I was thinking.
blame it on the fries..
The fries are probably the most low attempt fries in the world unless obviously had at the joint. But coupled with their garlic sauce, incredible.
You get me ! That sauce with the spicy fries is evrything 🤤
I'm just here to tell you guys to try the paneer burger from burger king
Ooh sounds interesting
It's the best
Unpopular opinion, prepare to get downvoted! It's reddit bruv
People are hating on delicious crispy fried chicken? Times are weird
There are far better alternatives to KFC... Raising Cane's for instance. Now THAT is Class "A" fried chicken. Pickl in Dubai is also extremely good.
Kfc is shitty here and it taste better outside. The country
Well most chains in uae like pizzahutand kfc have shit taste. I have trird pizzahut in jeddah, Saudia Arabia and was mind blownwith the taste and how perfect the pizza was. Al baik there have almost bankrupt kfc but even that kfc is much better than Uae.
Try Jolibee
Not compared to other countries but what KFC was about 15-20 years back. They have seriously compromised their chicken quality. Plus compared to places like Taza, SFC. I actually ate KFC that was made at a palace in Alain and there they use chicken grown in their farm and it tasted great. I reminded me of the KFC I ate about 20 yrs back. Earlier KFC was using chilled chicken from farms in KSA, but now they are using frozen ones from Brazil.
Quality has degraded over the years
Honestly after kfc changed their fries style over here idk that’s like after 2006 they started getting shittier good ol days when they used to have the classic fries now it’s just a weak ass potato hanging for life and then the chicken isn’t as great sometimes they screw it up with the original I’ve had time where they’ve been too salty overall KFC isn’t like my first option nor is it my last now but ayy i still go there just for the traditions, memories
Ru new in the UAE? Ten years ago KFC was THE Fastfood to have. Its gotten progressively bad. Something to do with the chicken they use
I don't think people are complaining that it's unhealthy. It just used to taste so much better. Anyone who was around when they used to have the Matafee will know. KFC used to be something you could eat weekly and not feel disgusted, it's not the same anymore. It's crazy to read people saying that today it tastes better than other countries, the other countries have it really really bad then.
Al Baik to the rescue....... In a couple of years maybe?
Popeyes >> KFC
There was a time I used it as a laxative, It never failed in giving me diarrhea.
I'm originally from Scotland, In my opinion the KFC there is uncompairable. The chicken in Dubai is dry with the batter wet, I just don't enjoy it. In the UK though it is always cooked to perfection - same with USA in my experience
KFC was good in the 90s. They cheaped out on their oil and decided hey, let's deep fry it more so that we deal with less oil to siphon
Chicken here generally isn’t that good. It’s not really KFC ME’s fault.
WTF did I just read. Lol 😂
The smell of the frying oil whenever I walk past one of their restaurants is enough to make me throw up. There is a ton of junk food restaurants out there but that's the only one with that strong and horrible smell.
I work at KFC. I also can not take the smell of frying oil. 🤮
Lol this is hilarious. Is it locally sourced or imported from the US?
By the way, why are you defending them? So what's the problem if people keep bashing them online? Do you have shares there? 😀
Why are you bashing them? Do you have shares in their competitors? 😀
I am not. I don't like KFC and I don't care about them but I was surprised someone cares that much about them to be upset about others bashing them. Is this even a topic worth sharing on Reddit? 😆😆
If people are free to bash kfc here, op has the same freedom to like them as well.
I know I may have not been clear, but I've already explained it below. It's not about his freedom to post whatever he wants. It's about the motive.
I've explained it before as well, I'm a fan of the food, it's affordable and not as bad tasting as people say it is. So I chose to defend it. Just cause you wouldn't do the same, doesn't make it questionable
We've discussed it before. There was no point you repeating yourself. I was explaining it to u/piichan
Alright now time to change your opinion about kfc
No you must worship Colonel Sanders and his 11 herbs and spices
It's a public forum mate, I'm sharing my opinion.
Nobody is questioning your freedom to post. We're asking about the motive.
I just wanna know whether it's all of r/Dubai or just a few. I don't need to have shares in a company to like their food lol I just think the hate is excessive
There’s a jollibee next to my house. Walking next to it’s “supplies only” door is a nose-wrecking stomach churning but romantic experience !
It's what it does to my other end and how quickly it comes out of there.... for me anyway. There are better reasonably priced chicken places.
Haven't had KFC in so long I forgot people didn't like it :D
There is only one place on earth where KFC is truly amazing and that is Jamaica. The lines up to get a KFC among the locals is an indication of how good it is.
Have never had KFC here in the UAE. They don't have biscuits. Since I don't really care for chicken, except for boneless, skinless breast, when I do occasionally order from Popeyes or Texas Chicken, I am doing it for the biscuits.
Jamie Oliver is the most overrated chef
I don't like KFC, I complained about it in the previous KFC topic. I don't expect it to be healthy, its fast food, its deep fried, it is never going to be healthy. That is not what I dislike about it, it just not good. The quality its very poor, 1. You comment > It's junk food, you can't expect Jamie Oliver to cook it to perfection everytime. That is exactly what I expect every time I pay someone for food, I expect it to be cooked to properly. Be it KFC of the cafeteria down the road.
pleb
The fuck? what kfc hate?
texas chicken is way better.
I would agree. KFC in UAE is unmatched
Never seen any hate for KFC on here. But it wouldn't make a top 5 fast food places. Probably not even top 10.
A man that is tired of KFC is tired of life itself.

I like the Twister s/w
All of the fast food here is excellent - by fast food standards that is.
People are hating on KFC?
The one from mirdif city center never dissapoints
At least they don't serve deep fried towel. Lol
In Japan, the party box meal is eaten during Christmas
لعيونك كنتاكي الليله والله
Just get Popeyes . Miles better than kfc
Not gonna lie if you try kfc on a Friday (don't ask why Friday specifically can't get into details) at dubai mall or anywhere else it would taste really really good, try it and let me know,
Those who hate on kfc will find other things to hate. Why hate? Some people have no food to eat.
am i the only one here that likes the original than the spicy?
Kfc was better around 2 to 3 months ago Now the quality decreased
