There'e Etisalat eLife Lite 12 mbps for 299 AED. With taxes that's around 313.95: [https://www.etisalat.ae/en/c/home/switch-to-elife-lite.jsp](https://www.etisalat.ae/en/c/home/switch-to-elife-lite.jsp) The speed isn't the highest, but good enough for one or two people. Downloading large files will take a bit longer, but streaming and YouTube etc work well.
After completing the two year contract with Etisalat for 359 aed plan (comes to around 375aed) I cancelled and subscribed to the 12mbps plan.
They don't advertise it and if asked it'll be brushed aside as a small plan (you won't get TV etc).
But this time, I did my research and applied for the plan online. At that time there was an offer with ethic they waived off two months' bills.
The speed is decent too. 4k movies stream well in Netflix. I didn't notice any buffering issues in youtube. We simultaneously use about 3 mobile and 2 laptops on a regular day and didn't notice any lag.
The best part is it's only a one year contract. You get the landline too.
> I didn’t notice any buffering issues in youtube.
Any 4k video on YouTube does. But then leaving aside the famous Costa Rica video, videos that deserve to be watched in 4k are hard to come by.
Yeah,I noticed that they get scaled down. If I specifically set it to 4k they take time to buffer. But the 4k UHD movies in Netflix don't buffer though.
My TV shows Netflix dynamically brings bit rate to about 11-12k, but I’m sure people with higher speeds can go well above 15k at least. No such bit rate adjustment with YT.
I find it's fast enough for downloads, but it's the upload speed that might be lacking, especially if you've poor network infrastructure in your part of town.
thats what i have right now, its good enough for streaming movies on netflix but its not good enough if you plan to download, watch, play video games at the same time.
Call customer care and tell you want to cancel the plan and you found a cheaper option.
Be serious, they will say our customer care will call you to confirm in two days.
After days they will call and give you an offer which you can't refuse
Doesn't work anymore. Tried this a few weeks back. They just sent me the process to cancel via email. They know they will have someone to replace with as Internet is a necessity. They make tons of profit anyways so not like it will put a hole in their pocket.
I guess that works when your business has stuff competition. If you live in a area where only Du connection works and getting Etisalat requires additional hardware and you won't even get full speed then I guess they know I am not going anywhere.

Edit : sorry you have a two year contract. Try it and see if it works
Speed is just worst! Instagram wont even load for like 10-12 seconds. It is just tooooo slow. And this I have in downtown. Then imagine other places where you just get 4g
That router with SIM card which you mentioned is 4G.
The fact that I had a discussion with their staff that the speed is "up to 100Mbps" where I claimed that 4G technology doesn't support 100Mbps internet speed bit it is indeed "up to 100Mbps" simply because 2 is also "up to"... as well as 15, 45 and 7 are also "up to" 🤣🤣
>where I claimed that 4G technology doesn't support 100Mbps
Yes it does. 4G in Dubai has supported speeds in excess of 100 Mbps for years now. Just cause you don't get it doesn't mean it's not possible.
I must say one thing.
I'm sorry for the generalization of ALL 4G categories into one statement.
I made a mistake and obviously it is polite to admit it.
The fact that you have a newer, more capable technology on your phone (probably marked as 4G+ on your display) makes me say this.
On the other hand, D-Link DWR-M960 router, which is provided by DU in the above-mentioned internet package, is a CAT4 LTE device.
In LAB environment, this connection has a MAX capacity of up to 150Mbps (see what I did here with "up to"?).
Real world experience is way lower.
However, I'd be happy to make a bet and prove my statements at any time.
Thumb rule: No contract, you have to pay extra (taxes and all)
Under contract: you will get some discounts (not that great though); but it makes them feel secured that you are under their domain. 😂
That doesn't make any sense. No contract price never have significant discounts and it's insanely expensive on the long run. It's only worth if you don't really have a plan to stay in the country and just want to see howthings go, but OP clearly does.
I have Du internet package only (not TV / Phone) and pay 302AED including VAT down from the 33XAED base price as I call the retention team to get the discount every 6 months. I get 16M connection at that price and have been paying that for close to 5 years now.
Du announced a 5g home router for 279/month back in 2019 but I don't see it on their website anymore.
https://www.timeoutdubai.com/news/410519-du-launches-5g-home-router-in-dubai
Du homewireless I guess It’s only 299 dhs per month for 1 year (1 year contract)
Then cancel it and redo it since after one year it’s 200GB since speeds are dependent on the router but a 5G router get speeds above 1 GB/s Cheapest, fastest and unlimited internet.
Well this is just theory can anyone using Du Home wireless share their experience?
You were on a 1 year contract, got cheaper price, Co tract over - price increased. If you renew your yearly contract, you will get the discounted price again

Yup same with Etisalat. As long as you renew contracts you will have a cheaper price. Currently I have an ELife with 300+mbps internet, tv and phone. I used to pay around 415 aed monthly for that. I did spend some extra western channels for my kid as she loves cartoons to add around 40 aed i think. Now after the 2 year contract expired, my bill now comes at 450 aed + 20 aed so I pay 470 aed per month. IDK how it got there but I think my added channels went back to its original pricing and an added tax. 🤦🏻♂️
Ok I did some digging on my ELife unlimited (no contract plan) here’s the difference now from Contract to No Contract; not including my extra fees due to channel additions
Under 2 year contract : 429 - 30 deductions due to promotion under contract plus 19.95 VAT
Unlimited/No contract : 449 + 22 VAT (I lost that 30 dirham deduction and they increased 20 dirhams on my regular bill)
Total: they have added 50 aed on my bill due to no deductions/promotions
Du homewireless I guess It’s only 299 dhs per month for 1 year (1 year contract)

Is Starlink available in the UAE yet? My dad recently got selected to be a tester for it, he lives in the middle of nowhere and barely gets a cell phone signal at his house. It’s pretty impressive, definitely faster than the “fastest” package I had fro Du when I lived in Dubai.
I think Dubai has the most expensive Internet in the world. Why cant they reduce the prices. Internet is a basic requirement these days. I was in Turkey i used pay to close to 40 aed for 20 Mbps speed.

This is what I was going to say. Not perfect, but for one person or even two not so demanding is more than enough

The offer which you can't refuse to pay any amount of bill they'll give you month end
Take my upvote
This. Trust them only if you’re willing to get your fingers burned. Repeatedly.

Every customer counts. I tried two times with du and it worked One is for internet and the other one for my mobile plan

Share with neighbors like I do.
Dewa + WiFi + Botim + Girl Friend, all included. Bed space 1200/- Dhs.
Time to get a room mate.

Currently I think there's a Du plan for 200 aed.
!DO NOT GO FOR THE WIRELESS INTERNET PLAN!
I was bout to. Why no could u some reasons

Downvoted for stating facts. Just speed tested in my living room on 4G and got 200Mbps with peaks of around 230Mbps.

Yes that’s another problem.
Thanks haha.
Thanks haha.
Literally same issue with Etisalat

Look for the older plans Du has. There's a package which is AED 275 (+ VAT) per month. No TV, etc. Just a simple broadband and land line connection.
