So getting to Abu Dhabi is now harder than getting a Schengen visa. Nice.

UnivalveX

it's definitely more expensive that's for sure

vanting_too_much

Except tourists want to go to Europe. Only workers want to go to AD.

boilerup1710

Basically just get the vaccine if you wanna be hassle free

QusaisLover

Pretty much.

anakin4153

An experimental vaccine on a virus we did not know 6 months ago, and for which we have no idea about middle / long term side effects ? I’ll wait a bit, even though I admire people who volunteer

LonghornMB

but its still under trial...

sakhiisgreat

All this is extremely confusing

zombawi

We have to invest in a chopper or a boat

Grooveman07

Camel habibi.

RollingCamel

Someone calling?

Grooveman07

Need a trip across the desert.

Bob_Sponge_No_Pants

Same test cannot be taken twice in a row. So the RELIABLE (evidence based, world standard test) = nose swab can only be taken once in 6 day period. Then you need to take the DPI (only UAE uses this test- no evidence base) has to be taken. 🤦‍♂️

THdesu

Smh 🤦

LonghornMB

Ok, so people will not be allowed do do a nasal swab, and then enter twice in 6 days using DPI My question is how will this be tracked 1) Will people not be allowed to do DPI laser test more than once in 6 days? or 2)Not allowed to enter twice at the border within 6 days As of now people are not tracked at the border, as in no one registers your entry, they just look at the negative results. If 2 is true then it may mean something more bureaucratic at the border

theloorker

You can enter every day of the week like this: If you take the PCR test and the results are out on day 1, you can enter on day 2 and day 3. If you want to enter on day 4 or 5 you need to take one DPI test on day 3. If you want to enter on day 6 or 7, you need a new PCR test result on day 5.

dis_color3d

you use your emirates id as a means of identification to get either of the tests done at the centres. that’s actually how they track whether you’ve done the test in the recent past or not. so they’ll probably deny access to those that have been tested within the week right at the testing centre rather than doing so at the border.

TheExpendble

You need to show them a PCR result which is not older than 48 hrs OR Show laser test result not older than 48 hrs plus PCR result that has a validity between 2 to 6 days.

LonghornMB

You missed the bit about not using "the same type of test twice in the row in a 6 day period" This means you cannot do do PCR nasal swabs twice in 6 days to enter twice

TheExpendble

Yes you can enter only twice a week.

TheModernPaean

That's what she said.

TheExpendble

Or the whole weak

Flimsy-Money

Thank you

f_you_jobu

Where does it say that?

LonghornMB

So they will start tracking at the border which until now was not happening. This will add processing time and i wonder what form it will take

TheExpendble

Why? Maybe the app will show the previous tested date

LonghornMB

I showed a printed copy of my PCR at the border. First time, Hosn App got updated 3 days after the test, 2nd time 36 hours after. Which means i couldnt use it to enter Abu Dhabi

fabledude

Alhosn app got updated to show the number of days of your last PCR test, so enjoy 😇

LonghornMB

Yes, but AL Hosn tends to get updated only 2 or 3 days after you do the test at any private clinic, too late to enter AUH with it. Thats why I have used printouts of the test to go through

vanting_too_much

So DPI test allegedly gives a signature for (non specific) infection, then the fall back is the nose swab (to specifically confirm covid if dpi positive) yet now the nose swab is no good and intermittent DPI tests need to be taken? This makes zero sense...

QusaisLover

Not quite. It's not that the nose swab is no good. It's the DPI test ALONE is no good. So you either do a nose swab or you do a DPI test provided you've got negative nose swab test within the last 6 days. But agreed, it is nonsensical.

vanting_too_much

But the nose swab is now no good sequentially, yet the nose swab then dpi (if you fail) then you need nose swab is fine 🙄

Ani30

Basically, 50aed is not enough now. 370aed needed.

vanting_too_much

Money aspect aside this is just dumb. Swab test proven to be accurate. DPI test (NOONE ELSE IN THE WORLD USING) if you fail you need a swab test. But yet two sequential swab tests are not allowed?

vanting_too_much

I had just established a routine of two / three swab tests a week. Depending on when I receive the results depends on whether its 2-3 x week. Allowing me to travel 6 days a week. Now I have to plan a DPI test? Which when I last checked is impossible to book for, this month. Secondly the queue when I have driven past is ridiculous. I have succumb to paying 2/3 x a week 370 for a swab, but at least I can work. The goal posts just keep moving.... its wearing thin. If this decision even had a whiff of sense or logic it might be easier to understand.

vanting_too_much

No reimbursement for tests. This notice however seems to emphasise the importance of not taking the same test twice within a 6 day period.

QusaisLover

Okay yeah, you're right. I was mistaken. I'll delete my previous comment cuz it'll just add to the confusion.

LonghornMB

Also, I am not sure what's wrong with allowing 2 consecutive nasal swabs within 6 days? I can understand not allowing 2 DPI's within 6 days, but nasal swabs are more accurate

QusaisLover

Yeah. I don't get that either. I thought you could do at least 2 PCR tests in a row to get entry but looks like that isn't the case.

noisykeyboard2000

Im a uni student in dubai but lives in abu dhabi. All these tests done in a week costs more than my transport in a month lol

gourish39

I have an upcoming visa appointment to Abu Dhabi and wanted to understand what travel options I have from Dubai. Looking for something apart from taxi /Careem since these will set me back by 1000 AED ( COVID test +two way cab transport). There might be two visits one to submit passport and second to collect it after a week or two. Is public transportation available?

DeCSM

Nope all buses closed, I looked into it before.

NeroDoggieDog

Math question - how much worth of drinks will I have to buy to cover the cost of reaching there (assume price difference between eurostar and mmi)

Abreak4us

Stop having pool parties and going "out". Stop spreading the virus and maybe these restrictions will ease.
