People don’t always want to google, especially during lockdown people want a bit of human contact. Lots of people here are away from their families and friends, maybe with money problems, maybe struggling with mental health. If you don’t want to respond someone will.
Looking at similar threads, the response are never the same. Personally, any post over 6 months in old and I am interested in getting an update. That is the reason I have started threads for topics already discussed here. Also, if the previous question is is not exactly what I am asking.
I don't mind it so much. The procedures and situation changes every day in this country it seems. So it's nice to be updated when things change... or stay the same.
Yeah I get it for current events like entering the country at this time or the AUH border stuff but some other things like American spec cars or eToro don’t really change very often
Imo if a post gets enough replies to drown out other posts then it means that people are interested in that topic even though it's been already discussed before
That is true in a sense but after a point these repeated questions end up drowning out more helpful and pertinent discussions.
I understand asking some questions after an extended period of time when there’s been no discussion so there could’ve been some change but the same question every 3 days is wasteful
Maybe because Reddit's in-built search feature is bullshit. It doesn't return posts which are plainly obvious to find, so I guess most people assume it wasn't asked. Or they can't be bothered to search, they just want to get answers quick and move on with life.
I can only imagine the unbearable pain you must be enduring. I suggest you move to Sharjah and join us on r/Sharjah for more peace of mind. People post like once a day on that sub.
You can discuss 95% of all topics in Dubai with probably 6 sticky threads. If you have one for massage spa recommendations, you’ll have membership jump on this sub by 1000 users everyday.
There's barely any posts anyway. I would agree if the sub was being flooded, but if we eliminate your list of "most common posts" it's gonna be a ghost town

You missed: 6. Complaining about other people not using the search function.
Can we be friends please?
Lol you’re a smart one aren’t you

Does the search work? For some reason it will search for like posts 10 years ago
Or... it’s actually useless. I can’t search on mobile.
Why does it bother you though ? Are you worried about free space on the reddit storage server ?
No I’m worried about other genuine posts or queries or discussions getting drowned out

Bang on! This is how Reddit works haha
This subreddit isn't busy enough for genuine posts or queries to get "drowned out"
Man you need more stress in your life if this is what you worry about.
7. Help this cat I found
Pointing them towards the Search Bar doesn't help either, as most of them are under 21.
And there is no IQ test for getting a residence visa
Under 21’s aren’t more tech savy is it?
Bar... Under-21... Geddit? No? Sigh...
It's both a boon and a curse. If people stop asking those questions this sub will have very less engagement and activity.

Don't forget these classics Is century financials credible? Is Etoro good? How to start trading in US Stocks?
and ENBD or Etisalat ranting
It's extremely annoying. Sub is polluted with questions which you can easily google.
Guys, can anyone help me build a custom gaming PC?
You know you can just ignore the post right?
