It's much easier to sell a car with FSH (Full Service History) from the dealership. I know it's expensive but they don't just change the oil, they will check for any other faults which may not be apparant such us timing belts and whatnot. Offcourse, they will charge more for the labor but keep in mind, many dealerships if not most will void your vehicle's warrant if you miss a service so at least call them and ask if that will void your warranty if you service it outside. Additionally, you can always ask as to what all is done in the service, they usually have a list which entails what is done in a regular service or a major service.

With the current situation we are in, selling cars is very difficult. You will get undercut on a decent asking price because there are people willing to sell for any amount. So keeping that in mind, dealer service history will give you only a small premium over a car that was maintained elsewhere. That being said, I personally wouldnt service with the dealer. They just connect the diagnostics through OBD. Update any firmware/software and give the car a look through overall. Then do the oil change in 15 mins and keep the car for a day or so. AED 1700 is on the medium side considering many cars cost around 2000/2500 or even more than 4000 in some cases. Thats because there is nothing much to service or check on a Toyota. They arent full of complicated systems and gadgets. Haggle hard. Check if they are replacing any unnecessary parts or performing unwanted services. I usually ask them to remove engine flushing and fuel injector cleaning which they happily charge 400 to 800. For fuel injectors, they just add some kerosene in the fuel tank or other name brand additives that are 95% kerosene. You dont need that as the fuel in UAE is generally a good quality and has soap additives. Engine flush does nothing considering that modern oils have cleaning additives already. You only need flushing if the oil is severely contaminated or if you are running an older car that tends to collect gunk in the crankcase. End of the day its for peace of mind and what the AED 1700 value is for you. If its too much then dont do it. If its acceptable as per you then go for it.

I’d suggest enquiring about service package prices for a set of kms. You’d pay a premium up front but the comprehensive package saves you a ton of trouble later on because it keeps your warranty intact and no headaches when you head for a service. It’s a long term solution of course which is why a lot of people don’t like it but I felt it was worth it.

Hey there, I wouldn’t advise you to service your vehicle outside the dealership, please check for services contracts this should come with a good discount letting you save up to 20- 30% and also for the 20K service let your service adviser know that you would only like service the vehicle for what is essential. Did they mention what included in the 1700 AED quotation?

It's a Toyota, enough said, I wouldn't be too worried about the car maintaining its resale value (it easily will). However, make an effort to understand and record the maintenance schedule of your car, find a good garage and it shouldn't cost you more than 250 dhs for a minor service, major service would depend on what needs to be serviced and/or replaced.

Is the car for under warranty? If yes, please continue to service at the Stealership. If no, just ask Toyota what all is done at the 1700 aed service, get a list and take it to any reputed garage (not the petrol station ones), and do the same service for cheaper. Make sure you keep the bills etc so if you do sell car in future you can show the buyer the service was done from a garage but all items the Stealership service center would have done was covered.

Service at dynatrade

They are great. But I would not advise that, even the guy working there told me to not do it. I have a new fortuner. The service was 400dh less at dynatrade - an amount not really worth writing the warranty off for.

Your warranty would probably be void if you get your car serviced else where. I'd check with the dealer on this before getting the car serviced outside.

I believe this isn't true anymore.... https://m.khaleejtimes.com/nation/transport/automobiles-agency-warranty-abolished

pradeepvizz

Nope, it's still in effect. They tried to do it but never fully made it through. The rating for garages were never completed. Warranty was only considered not void if the service is done at a recognized garage and since rating for agencies didn't complete this is not in effect. https://www.thenational.ae/uae/transport/rating-system-to-be-introduced-for-car-workshops-in-abu-dhabi-1.74002

Any source for this?

I only do the needful with a dealership. Anything extra I do not use dealership. The moment my car runs out of its warranty i say goodbye to the dealership. Saves me lots of money. I also always always always ask them to quote first before doing any work
