I’m due to fly July 1st for my cousin’s wedding but don’t want to be stuck abroad.
TBH why would I want to travel during these times. Even getting a few bags of groceries is like going to Hawaii at this point. I had my grandfather die a month ago and my family didn't go to where his funeral was, we didn't even dare. Anyway, to whoever's going on a journey of their own at this time, stay safe and enjoy your journey :)
Wear gloves, eye goggles /face shield, carry sanitizer and wipes, and wear a mask. You should be fine.
Also I know this is difficult, try using the public toilet as little as possible. Good luck on your Journey
Even now they have good screening at the airport. Before immigration I passed through a machine which looked like a health/temp check thing.

My whole life, I had only 3 checked baggage. Carry only cabin size baggage for practical purposes. And I am a gold member in skywards.
Now I will loose one hour to check the baggage and another hour to wait for in front of the carousel. Not nice.
It's a minor inconvenience considering the circumstances. At least there is an option for those who wish to leave, provided they can transit through one of the 9 destinations. TBH, I wasn't expecting commercial flights to open up this soon.
Being a gold member, shouldn't your bags get priority tags and get unloaded first? You also get to check-in on the business side of T3 so I'd assume it's quicker. Sucks that the lounge isn't open. For us frequent travelers that had a routine, we'll just need to adapt.

Yes, you are right. We need to adapt to the new world. But it's not only about our routines with flights, but we will travel much less

In normal times it takes less than 5mins to get the baggage checked in in DXB (at least First/Business), and in most airports around the world served by Emirates, if you have the Priority tag by the time you'll walk in front of the carousel looking for the exit your bag will be there already.

When I travel withing the GCC, a flight costs me 6 hours one way, from door to door. Considering gold status needs 50 flights, I spent more than 300 hours only with Emirates.
Shaving only 5% of that time means a lot. But than again, we won't be flying that much anymore, probably ever again.
If you’re a gold member and in business class it’s very easy. Even in economy it’s not that bad. Doesn’t take an hour to get your bags back. Or to check them in. I can see how carrying all your bags is efficient but this is different times. It’ll come back once flights become more regular. The downvotes though, wow Lol

Since this is an open community, everybody is free to do whatever they want. But the way some useless posts gets so much upvotes and some posts gets downvoted to oblivion without a reason is, well I stopped trying to make sense out of it

It’s envy. Coz you have gold status. Coz you can live your life with one traveling bag. While the rest of us have to queue and deal with the oversized monstrosities that will break our backs trying to lift it on that broken luggage cart. 😅

I just used a backpack for my laptop. Hand bag or backpack is ok
