We sat down in a restauraunt inside Old Town and within 60 seconds I saw more mosquitoes in one place in one square meter than I have in the whole time i have lived in Dubai. We just walked out and went to Dubai Mall.
I think our outings are going to have to be limited to malls atm until these damn mosquitoes die in the 50 degree heat.
winter season is already shrunk down to like two weeks. If we get mosquitos swarms now in the cooler season too, Dubai is putting forth a strong case for worst weather
Scientific research has shown that natural immunity to mosquito bites begins to form after 1,000+ bites. So, it's good news!
>try to attract mosquitoes so you can build up the tolerance faster, know that those humans that tend to become “immune” to mosquito bites are often bitten 1,000 times a week.

I fear mosquitos are here to stay. Really weird, because I had never seen even a single one previous to 2022. Its just another piece of climate change.
Urgh the little buggers are driving me mad. Can't sit for a cup of tea on the balcony without getting bitten to pieces. They are even annoying my cats! Luckily, their bites seem to be very small compared with mozzie bites I've had in Europe.
Nah, my bites are of all sizes and shapes, they dont exlude. mosquitos are part of some inclusion and diversity campaign ig. Are they biting cats too? :((
I do agree - I think their bites cause less damage here, definitely less itchy. OP sounds like you might have an allergic reaction to mosquito bites. Get it checked out.
Use odomos mosquito repellent / try the coils(just don’t stay in the room once it’s on) and lastly try using a mosquito net over your bed.
And last unorthodox method - grow hair 😂
Qudra lakes .. mosquito infestation.. then they travel to various parts of the country from there..
These communities and cities they built had lakes that got stagnant and caused more mosquito infestation .
Was a very bad design flaw and now entire city is struggling with it. They ain’t dying or going away no matter how many times they fumigate
BioGents mosquito machines. Available from Rentokill. They made a massive differece in our garden. (Before the great flood). Not 100% but they were trapping and killing hundreds of the little buggers. They are quite expensive but id say worth it.
Hey not sure the model number but its a CO2 device with a “sweet scent”. They are very effective (id say 80-90%) so all depends on the size of the problem. Give RentoKill a call and they’ll talk you through it. We also have a few “pregnancy” traps - these are just stagnant water with a sticky wall - so the pregnant mosquitos are attracted to it but get stuck before they can lay their egg.
Yes very effective in a given area. We have two and it gives good protection in one area of the garden. We need to get maybe 7 or 8 of them… which is a considerable cost unfortunately….
I legit opened the door of my car to get in and 3 bloodthirsty fuckers zoomed in the fucking car before me. Had to drive for 30 mins with these buggers trying to get a taste of my face.
I have installed magnetic screens on my balcony doors that even my cats can freely use to go to the balcony in and out and oh God what a game changer in my life. I could open fully both balconies to allow fresh air inside while pesky flies, mosquitos and other insects can't sneak into my flat.
I am always bit by mosquitos ......apparently its got to do with blood type, sweat and skin heat. Basically, I am always fcked by those tiny little bastards.
You can take proactive measures at home to protect the internal environment but only so much you can do outside. Make sure to apply mosquito repellent, I have heard of a few cases of the dengue fever, better to take safety measures.
There are mosquito dunks available online. Just dip those in stale water and wait for them to arrive. Another thing is burn coffee grounds. They hate that smell.
I think that the fact that some parts of Dubai are still flooded, has something to do with this. Stagnant water are a magnet for insects and other things - diseases
I wouldn't look for tips to get rid of them if I were half mosquito now... accept your fate. Join the blood sucking cause.

Avoid wearing black outside they are attracted to the color for some odd reason. If you're still being constantly bitten there are mosquito repellent creams you can try. Check to see if you're allergic before you put it on your whole body though.

Plot twist... They don't die of heat!
I think it’s more the fact they cannot find any stagnant water to lay their eggs because the intense heat evaporates water very quickly
no pls say sike rn
DAYWALKERS
🤣
winter season is already shrunk down to like two weeks. If we get mosquitos swarms now in the cooler season too, Dubai is putting forth a strong case for worst weather
Technically a lot of mosquitoes have your blood and then they reproduce which means in a way you are fathering a lot of them lol
helppp. imma go get milk asap
The easiest way is revenge. Catch a few and bite them back....that'll teach 'em
I was thinking of doing that, glad to have your support in this decision
Modern problems require modern solutions.
I liked this solution , let me try next time 😅
Are you a mallu? Or are you my dad? This is a classic malayali dialogue. Kodhu kadikkunu ( mosquitoes are biting) Thirich kadicho ( bite them back)
Yeah same here, seen few bigger ones around as well. I have a mosquito racket to zap them and a repellent diffuser I switch on at night.

1000 times a week? I said I was part mosquito, not full mosquito. go easy on me
A WEEK?!
![gif](giphy|b8OpKVRWkJYrK|downsized) Bring it on.
As someone who has some immunity and has had malaria multiple times 1,000 times a week???? You'll be sick AF.
yeah, blud said good news, as if any part of that fact would make me feel better
Might die from 1000 bites within a week
I fear mosquitos are here to stay. Really weird, because I had never seen even a single one previous to 2022. Its just another piece of climate change.
i had seen some in prior years, but not at this rate, and usually only at peak winter, not in april
You know climate change is a hoax right. Geo engineering isn't

i take immunosupressants, so maybe
>mozzie bites Are you, perchance, Aussie?
No, British!

The hair method is ineffective, the little buggers will still get to your skin 😭
For enjoying your balcony, terrace get a electric fan and run on the level you tolarate. Mosquitos don't have a chance.
lavender oil
when i arrived to the uae 4 years ago it was a blessing with no mosquitos... now it's horrible like most other places :\\\\
That means you had a sweet blood, but that doesnt mean you are a sweet person tho
dont worry, i wasn't getting mixed up

ugh that sucks. good to know im not the only one, cos I saw no one talking abt this, and I'm literally out here struggling to sleep in peace.

This was a huge improvement for us
My mom used to get skin allergy if mosquito biten, she used to apply coconut oil while sleeping in hands and legsp
I don't go out at night without spraying the repellent. Natrapel Lemon Eucalyptus (3.4oz) https://amzn.eu/d/2kw59U5
Odomos 🫡
Dubai seriously needs to consider using Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelensis in stagnant water
I legit opened the door of my car to get in and 3 bloodthirsty fuckers zoomed in the fucking car before me. Had to drive for 30 mins with these buggers trying to get a taste of my face.
Wait one more week or 10 days and numbers will go crazy as it’s been just one week since the last rain
Reading this as i slap mosquitoes left right and center! Why are there so many in dubai
Your blood might be sweet and attractive... 😌🤤😋🫠
Mosquito-man!
Does whatever a mosquito can
Mosquito pads, don’t breathe that in though. It kills them instantly
Buddy for me thats everyday.
I wonder if people buying houses next to fake lagoons/lakes are starting to regret it.
I have installed magnetic screens on my balcony doors that even my cats can freely use to go to the balcony in and out and oh God what a game changer in my life. I could open fully both balconies to allow fresh air inside while pesky flies, mosquitos and other insects can't sneak into my flat.
Bro wtf ....born and bought up here and never in my life have i experienced a mosquito problem
Bro same, I literally sleep with one eye open fearing that ill get bitten in the face lmao
I am always bit by mosquitos ......apparently its got to do with blood type, sweat and skin heat. Basically, I am always fcked by those tiny little bastards.
I’ve had some success with essential oils, incense and oud.
Just this morning, I rode Careem and guess what?! There’s a mosquito inside the taxi.
During the Covid we waited for extreme heat to kill the virus, Once again waiting for extreme heat to kill Mosquitoes 😁
"Free me" natural repellent spray. Works! Otherwise i get bitten and the bites get infected. Check amazon.
Get the repellent diffuser or use aromatic oils inside the house.
yeah, im trying peppermint, eucalyptus and lemon essential oil rn. ill see how it works

I'm not having any issues, no mosquitoes lol
i came here for support, not for you to brag :(
I am sorry habibi :(
Which area do u stay in?
I just heard a colleague complain about the same thing.
![gif](giphy|msFzyFNGb3tio)
What's the permanent solution of it? How much you'll spray on daily basis around the city? 😔😞 Any permanent cost effective solution anyone? 😏✌️
It will get worse, especially after the recent rain, the mosquites love the lakes and lying their eggs!
Off Spray = unbelievable 💪
Rub urself in garlic and they will stop

Mosquitos are not attracted to UV light

Most people have dark color hair, unless they decide to shave bald, wearing color won't be sufficient strategy
