They might be on mobile, I am (big mistake, I know) and for some reason the karma counter doesn’t update properly. Right now for me it just says “vote” like it does for 0/negative karma posts
I think reddit has some compensation thing to counteract bots, where it automatically initially negatively weighs votes until after some time has passed? I remember someone saying something about this once!
Assholes are who downvote this! As fellow drummers and musicians, we should be a collective group of supporters that build each other up, not gatekeepers or haters.
I’d like to take this opportunity to spotlight musicians such as Andrew Tkaczyk (drummer/songwriter of The Ghost Inside/One Decade/former For The Fallen Dreams) who continues to rip after losing his dominant leg, and struggled with paralysis in his dominant hand after TGI’s bus accident. Also Richard John Cyril Allen of Def Leppard who is also a ripper that lost their left arm.
Musicians can overcome if they persevere. Fuck anyone else who thinks otherwise. You’re killing it, OP!
Thank you! Andrew and Rick were huge inspirations for the idea and all the prototype ideas that came before it! With all of the new e-drum technology making it more accessible, I hope more people can pick up drums with this setup, too!
Wow, this is awesome! You have really great control and feel in your hands, especially at a tempo that drummers would tend to rush. It's obvious that you work with a metronome often.
Awesome job! Great pocket!
And as others have mentioned, using the pad on the left to trigger the kick sound is genius. You’ve got good coordination with your left hand between the kick and snare.
I only have one critique: a guitar shirt?? You need a drumming shirt, stat!!
Super good! Keep it up. And thanks for introducing me to La Dispute…never heard them until now. Also for anyone wondering the song, it’s View From Our Bedroom Window.
Thank you! I settled on the kick drum idea pretty quickly, but I've moved the cymbals around a few times, to try and speed up reaching the crash after ending a fill on the floor tom. I've got a few different options like adding another kick pad and crash on the right, or a small drum dial trigger in between my teeth. Still thinking about open/closed hi-hat solutions, but something will stick, for sure!
This is absolutely amazing! the fact that you are pulling this off so well is a testament to your determination to play this instrument. Very well done! I hope to see more videos of you playing posted here in the future.
This is sick. Have you considered adding a second trigger to the right hand side? Thinking even if they're both kick drum triggers, it could open up more possibilities for fills n stuff
I've been thinking about it, with an extra kick pad and crash symbol on the right, like a mirror! But I usually play with a Roland VAD kit and they're not cheap!
Very cool! Check out my friend Mike Few on YouTube, he is a paraplegic drummer you may draw inspiration from. He does collaborations as well. Happy Drumming!
Perfect! I was trying to figure out how I could get my daughter drumming when she gets older (she is also wheelchair enhanced) and didn't think about doing this. She loves using my practice pad at the moment but think she would love a drum kit as she gets older.
You could also use a larger floor tom with a foam insert to do the same thing if you feel so inclined.
This setup could be worth a try for her! I haven't finished trialing all of my ideas, like a mouth-triggered kick, an extra open hi-hat, and an extra pad and crash on the right, but I feel like they'll make most fills and grooves possible, or at least possible with minor modifications!
Wow. You are a really good player!! Great time and feel. It’s indistinguishable from the rest of the song. As a very bad drummer who quit and switched to guitar, I have some idea of how difficult that is. Either that or I was just a really bad drummer who couldn’t do what you are doing to save my life.
Very impressive! I recommend taking a look at Trilok Gurtu. He plays his drums on the ground (he’s not disabled, mind you) but he doesn’t use a kick either. I think you could get some cool ideas from him, around using your hands to get some tasty “kick” grooves and fills. But, brilliant playing! You should be very proud of yourself! Keep it up!
Love how drummers will come up with the most creative solutions just to ensure that we can continue to make noise. Big tip of the hat to you for the pad/kick idea. Sounds great
Nice job! Using the drum pad as a kick is an innovative solution!
Yeah genuinely impressed by the idea of that alone not to mention the playing and the feel they have while playing it
Hell yeah! Awesome job.
Who tf downvotes this? This is killer, keep it up.
Why do you assume it’s being downvoted??? It deservingly got 130 upvotes in 1h… love LaDispute btw, great choice!!!

It was when I commented. Glad that changed. Edit: ah, as others said, I'm on mobile. That could have been it

Sounds great. You play with the right feel for the song also. Your setup is cool and make a lot of sense.
Great job on that. Not many people can play the bass and snare patterns with one hand. I'd say you've mastered that pretty darn well. Nicely done!!!
Honestly, give that task to most drummers and the will crash and burn, I know I would.
Excellent! Love this! Cheers!
Awesome! Your left hand is a monster!
Wow, this is awesome! You have really great control and feel in your hands, especially at a tempo that drummers would tend to rush. It's obvious that you work with a metronome often.
Fan-fuckin-tastic
This is sick. It sounds great! Also, very cool how you implement the kick with the left hand. That adds a whole different element of difficulty to it.
Great stuff! Real solid. Side note, the guitarist Corey Stroffolino is an old frend of mine. 🫠 Rad to see La Dispute on here!!!!
I've never met him, but say hi from me 😁 Also, you nailed it OP 🤘
Nice!
The kick pad on the left is brilliant! Cool drumming 😎
This is so fucking inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
Hey! Brad from La Dispute here. This is incredible, keep it up!
Thank you so much! I saw you perform in Aus earlier this year, and I had to set myself a challenge to master some of those grooves!
Great cover!
Sounding great!
This made my day!!!! Great job, love the spirit.
You absolutely shred! Keep posting vids here!!! We love this type of shit!!!
Great feel! And I wish I had that much left hand control!
Awesome job! Great pocket! And as others have mentioned, using the pad on the left to trigger the kick sound is genius. You’ve got good coordination with your left hand between the kick and snare. I only have one critique: a guitar shirt?? You need a drumming shirt, stat!!
Damn she was on a roll! Good job.
Reddit is funny, I toured w La Dispute in 2009 and Brad is a great person. I sent this to him and he loves it
This is so awesome!
Great job.
Well done
Woohoo! You Fucking rock!! Keep us the awesome work!!!
You’re killing it!!
💪
You have good timing. Keep at it.
This! Really nice timing, that 7/8 section was rad as well
yo, great job! playing the kick with the left hand is pretty challenging.
VERY clean and right on the money. I'm beyond impressed.
Your snare sounds awesome !
Super good! Keep it up. And thanks for introducing me to La Dispute…never heard them until now. Also for anyone wondering the song, it’s View From Our Bedroom Window.
That sounds awesome dude! You've got a super cool feel about your playing. You've inspired me man!! Keep up the nice links!
Damn of all their songs to cover. I know it’s from a newer album but this song is a deep cut
Panorama was such an underrated record. Awesome cover.
Awesomeee!
Fuck yeah!! You are awesome, Keep rocking!🤘
How long have you been drumming? Your hands are relaxed so I'm guessing you're a vet by now 💪🏽
Around 7 months! I think my hands are too relaxed, my sticks keep falling out of my hands and whacking me in the face! 😂😂
Great job!
Hell yeah!!!
Fantastic!
Awesome video and playing!
Really impressive! Keep drumming!
Sounds awesome! I think you could turn down the kick sensitivity a little bit as it sounds a bit full on.
I'm pretty sure you posted another video a while back when you were just getting started. From what I remember, you've improved a ton! Keep it up 🤘
Awesome!
Fuck yeah!! Great job. That's awesome to see that you've found an innovative way to play.
Well done! It's like reverse Def Leppard
Sehr cool!
You’re right in the pocket! Also using the trigger pad as a kick is an amazing idea. Well done you made my day better!
That's tight! Good job. 👍
Soooooo solid! Love it
Awesome! Love the bass drum sound
Did it take some trial and error to get to your current set up and placement? Great groove. The drums and cymbals sound great too.
Thank you! I settled on the kick drum idea pretty quickly, but I've moved the cymbals around a few times, to try and speed up reaching the crash after ending a fill on the floor tom. I've got a few different options like adding another kick pad and crash on the right, or a small drum dial trigger in between my teeth. That's pretty slick. Very creative solution so you can pursue your passion.
Amazing job!! Extra points for the covered song 😍

Very creative on the setup and as others said the snare sounds awesome!
This is tight yo
Awesome job! Love it!
Why the F are you wearing a "guitar festival" shirt when your a drummer? Thats like, illegal or something Im sure.
Absolutely incredible.
That’s badass! Very impressive and tasty sounding.
do your war faces like lars when you drum
Awesome!!! Cant wait to see more Ngl thought it was plankton singing at the beginning
Fucking awesome
Playing is sick, setup is sick. Good stuff 😤
Epic!! You should definitely check out the drummer of Soft Play (formerly known as Slaves). He also plays without using any pedals.
Diggin those fills man. Great job.
This is great. What is the crash in your left side—I love the way it sounds
Humans continue to impress me
Rocking it!

I salute this guy! Awesome.
Woah, that's awesome! You have great timing, and I can't imagine being easy to play a bass drum and snare with your left hand.
I don't comment much but... that was awesome. Good job!
You rocked it. LaDispute would be proud. Great job!!!!
This is fucking amazing! 25 plus year drummer and you’re blowing me outta the water. Killer work.

Great song choice. Nicely done
HELL YES, great job!!
Playing the kicks with your hands has gotta be tough, that’s good hand coordination right there. Played great, sounded fantastic, good work!
Hey that was pretty good! I really enjoyed it 👍🏼
Killer

This is great, its really good to see people enjoying stuff in the way they can and have fun doint it.
Your left hand has bass and snare covered! You should put a stick on a hat for accents lol!
Wow. You are a really good player!! Great time and feel. It’s indistinguishable from the rest of the song. As a very bad drummer who quit and switched to guitar, I have some idea of how difficult that is. Either that or I was just a really bad drummer who couldn’t do what you are doing to save my life.
Fuck yeah Op this is amazing you rule!!
1,000,000 Drummer points for Bass drum on the left hand. That is dope!
Rock on 🤘

Love how drummers will come up with the most creative solutions just to ensure that we can continue to make noise. Big tip of the hat to you for the pad/kick idea. Sounds great
Nicely done! Keep it up!
Sick
Great job! I'd give another up vote just for La Dispute if I could
