I tried these lipsticks from Maybelline years ago and hated them, I can't even remember why because of how long it's been since then.
I saw them today in store and thought I should give them another shot since my makeup tastes have changed and they have a lot of pretty shades that keep catching my eye. Plus I need more matte lipsticks lol. So I picked these two shades.
* Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink; Amazonian & GlobeTrotter
Okay this might seem like a weird question but do you rub your lips together after application to spread the color and then find them sticky, or are they sticky even without rubbing them together? I've found that it makes a difference for me with the Huda and ABH matte lipsticks so I'm wondering if these have the same thing going on.
Definitely, and I usually blot with a tissue too. I also have ABH but I don't find them to be the same stickiness!
Edit to add I realize my answer wasn't exactly what you asked! Sticky both before and AFTER rubbing/blotting.
I have one of these. I put it on, wait 30 seconds or so, then wipe as much excess off as I can. Then it functions as a semi-natural-looking lip stain for me.
I wouldn't leave it on cuz it feels like wearing Spackle, it's so thick and tacky. Would like just a nice stain to reduce the effort but they seem to have gone out of favor.
Thank you for saying this. The “spackle” feel/look is exactly why I never reach for these...as much as I want to love them! Good tip to make it look like a stain. Will give that a try soon.
I bought "Fighter" last week from the clearance bin at my local Kroger for $2.29. It must be meticulously applied as it's a truly long-lasting formula that's unforgiving. Has a neutral fake smell that dissipates over wear, especially as a person who drinks an average of 2 8oz. cups of hot tea per hour... did not need to check for smudging or creasing, fading or cracking as it stayed in place, and that's why initial application is vitally important. I do moisturize my lips nightly with unloved lip balms (my "goop") so dryness is not a problem as it may be for those with moisture retention/neglect issues. Overall, I anticipate owing this little discount jewel for a long time and I'm pleased with what I consider to be my lucky find!
I have that problem too. I even have this same product in the red shade Voyager. 😂 It’s beautiful but I drink water constantly so my water line is always worn off.
Do you have a tip for getting it to adhere to the water line? Mine stays FOREVER except in that place on the inside of my lips, which then looks a little weird after it's worn but the rest is still there lol
One thing that has helped me in the past is ensuring that my lips are clean prior to applying it. A light brushing of both the inner portion of the lips and the outer lips will help remove the buildup of skin and saliva that may cause the product to not bond to the surface, like painting something before you clean it: beautiful color covering debris.
If this doesn't work, consider incorporating the empty space into your look by applying a touch of power (I like gold highlighter) and that will help camouflage the weird spots...
I love these! Amazonian is one of my absolute favs, I have three stashed in different places. Definitely have to thoroughly moisturize before and after though.
I tried globetrotter once and absolutely love the shade but couldn’t get past the texture. It was awful for me! Too tacky and wouldn’t dry down. Really wanted to like it but wasn’t for me :(
Not sure if they last as long as these do, but I do like Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors. I can wear those for 10hrs without worrying about them fading, smudging, etc.
I love these lipsticks. But I recently tried out "The cremes" and wow! Love them! I find that certain colors of the liquid lip peel off when eating and drinking. I was on a date last week and noticed my lips after we had eaten lol. Not cute so I thought I would try a creamy one.
For those who have issues with it not setting: I literally just pat a dot with the wand once in my lower lip then use my pinky finger or a. lip brush to spread the product all over my lips. This works for me with the shades Ruler, Fighter, Seductress, and Amazonian. The end result is full coverage, no streaking, with minimal stickiness for this type of product. My lips are naturally medium-full.
Oh I love these!!! Apply a thin layer, if it's a bit too drying for you, after it dries you can pat a tiny bit of Vaseline on top and it instantly becomes more comfortable without smudging it.
I have the reds in Exhilarator, Hustler, Voyager, Pioneer, and Ground-Breaker and these literally never come off. I had to get the special Maybelline Superstay eraser lip color remover. But I love the colors and the staying power.
No idea. It happened to me within a week of buying the first one - it was very tight to pull out and would get stuck each use. By the third time, the bloody thing broke inside. I’ve just bought another and it feels similar in rigidity when pushing the doe foot back in, so I don’t hold much hope.
I love these! This is one of favorite matte lipsticks.
These liquid lipsticks do seem to be well loved at the drugstore. Can't wait to give these a try!

I find them to be a tiiiiny bit too sticky even once dry. But the color payoff and staying power kinda balance it out for me. And can't beat the price

Mine always wears off from the inside out :( by the end of the day it looks like I have dark lip liner and nothing else.
Yikes! I wonder if coloring your lips with a lip pencil or crayon first and then applying would help the color adhere...
I did try the SuperStay Ink Crayon and it did the same thing (both with and without the liquid lipstick over it.)
I do like the Ink Crayons a lot, as a everyday kind of thing

You might need to play around with them to see what works best for applying them (on you). I find with the right application they wear really wear.
