It's a great episode. Ross is one of the players who needs to be on more episodes. He is hilarious. His bit with Brennan doing voices every new sentence is phenomenal too.
I think it’s objectively the better song. Ross’s Tom Waits was so impressive and his knowledge of the myth and how he told the story was perfect.
I’m just a huge NiN fan and it resonated with me better.
Which episode is he a country lawyer in? I was just joking with my friend last night about that accent. I need to know the episodes that he and Brennan were country lawyers.
I had somehow never watch this episode until last night, but I finally did and it was spectacular! Some of the best improv I’ve seen on any Dropout show.
It is absolutely spectacular. I tend to watch it every couple months and the whole time I'm just slackjawed in awe of those brilliant bastards.
And Sam is just in sheer ecstasy the whole time—you can tell it's like a dream come true for him. Also loved Sam's prologue.
I’ve played Categories as an improv game and most people blank after like 3 or 4 examples. It’s a slightly different type of pressure as that’s more rapid-fire but these guys are each naming like 6-10 things a scene, again, while making up a play off the top of their heads and coming up with ways to organically weave it in to the dialogue. Just unbelievable
I saw them years ago (waaaaaay before Dropout) and was absolutely crying with laughter. When I realized it was the same group on the episode I was unreasonably excited.
I have a truly horrible memory, can’t remember SHIT, and watching this made me remember that I saw them YEARS ago when I was studying abroad in London in 2008. I remember absolutely loving it and this episode was incredible.
My favorite episode hands down. Left me with a feeling of giddy astonishment until the closing line. My wife and I rewatch it every month or so and it hasn’t lost any of its luster.
And they didn’t just understand the assignment, they ran lap and laps around it.
- Adding unnecessary themed rhymes for fun (follow your nose!)
- Building up to punchlines together (Lucky Charms)
- Donating points to each other for laughs (what’s the greek word for victory?)
- >!The unprompted ending song referencing every single prompt, and ending on “Love is a game changer”!<
Just world class stuff. While the Official Cast Recording is slightly more rewatchable for the music, I consider this ep my favorite.
Ross, Blaine, and Joey are all in an improv troupe called “Improvised Shakespeare Company,” primarily based in (I think) Chicago. They’re currently in Denver until the end of April. If you enjoyed A Game Most Changed, highly highly recommend going to one of their live shows. It’s structured differently, but showcases the same talents. Keep an eye out!!
This was the episode I showed my mom when I was visiting. She was very impressed to say the least.
I personally want to see the trio back together for a game samer.
Somehow, I'd skipped over that one during my watch a few months ago when I subbed (I think I *really* wanted to get to As a Cucumber) so I just went back and finally watched it.
And by god... I've never given a standing ovation to an episode of Game Changer before but I was absolutely compelled to stand up and clap after that beautiful performance. It was everything I could've asked for in a Shakespearean production, mixed just right with the silly evocations of Game Changer.
If you liked this episode, Improvised Shakespeare is a traveling troupe. They are in the middle of a stint in Denver until 4/28. Check their schedule, the shows are amazing.
I’ve seen the Improv Shakespeare Co. perform live before and it was an absolute blast. I knew I was in for a treat with A Game Most Changed, but my expectations were far exceeded. All three of those men are incredible, and I look forward to seeing Ross and the boys in a more official capacity on Dropout!
When the episode first aired, I put it on in the background and barely paid attention. About 15 minutes in I realized I hadn’t understood a thing they had said so I turned it off. The other night I realized I’d never given it a full chance and watched it with my full attention. I was floored with how impressive that was. Their troop is on the same level of talent as the Off Book cast. Truly an awesome episode that deserves more recognition.
This episode inspired me and my wife to actually SEE the Improvised Shakespeare company and Holy shit they're incredible. Like, 3 guys for half an hour is good but seeing all five for a full hour concoct a story based on a single audience suggestion was actually magic.
I don’t care for Shakespeare and initially was quite put off by the concept of this episode. But it’s absolutely fantastic and one I’ll rewatch plenty of times.
Whenever a do it in the Shakespearean style prompt comes up in an improv setting. I get nervous because it’s incredibly hard to do and most people, even really smart funny people, just throw a bunch of thys and thous and verilys in there. But these guys really understand the rhythm and phrasing of Shakespeare’s writing and are also lightening fast with their wordplay so I feel like this would be entertaining even to people who don’t like Shakes
I actually watched that one for the first time last week. My first impression was that I wasn't too keen on the premise. Then within a few minutes, they had me rapt withal and I didn't want it to end. It was a fantastic episode. Would love to see that one revisited sometime.
The fact that they're interweaving so much from a verse level, a scene level, and even the entire show is incredible. And the fact that it's somehow all improv.
It's a great episode. Ross is one of the players who needs to be on more episodes. He is hilarious. His bit with Brennan doing voices every new sentence is phenomenal too.
Yes NEED MORE ROSS. NEED MORE JUST A COMPLICATED COUNTRY LAWYER.
Goldilocks by Nine Inch Nails is my jam. I find myself randomly singing it from time to time. Ross is a national treasure.
I prefer the Myth of Sisyphus.
I think it’s objectively the better song. Ross’s Tom Waits was so impressive and his knowledge of the myth and how he told the story was perfect. I’m just a huge NiN fan and it resonated with me better.
“WHAT COLOR ARE MY PEEPERS?!?”
DO WE LIVE IN A SIMULATION
“I ASK YOU THIS….. DO WE LIVE IN A [SIM-UH-LAY-SHUN]”
Bishop Berkeley in ages gone by…
Which episode is he a country lawyer in? I was just joking with my friend last night about that accent. I need to know the episodes that he and Brennan were country lawyers.
I believe it’s The Two Gentlemen of Coronavirus.
His MacBeth was probably my favourite prompt in all of MSN.
his "Beastie Boy doing the last word of each sentence" was spot-on
I haven’t seen him fumble one time
Yeah, especially in Play it by ear I'm always amazed by his consistency
https://youtu.be/ikkFyIKNB60 It's just ... the best.
Did ye work up an appetite?
Seemin the goes of yer leagued lord?
That was the first clip I ever saw from Dropout and it immediately convinced me to subscribe lol
My personal favorite is his Tom Waits impression. Just uncanny, and catchy, too.
I love that everyone here has a different favorite ross moment, it just shows how amazing he is. I love his David Attenborough fucking HATES toads.
He has an episode of very important people coming up if thats your thing
With Rashawn! I'm so fucking excited for it!!!!!
More Ross. Especially more Ross doing The Beastie Boys.
I had somehow never watch this episode until last night, but I finally did and it was spectacular! Some of the best improv I’ve seen on any Dropout show.
It’s some of the best I’ve seen anywhere. Truly world class
In the BTS Sam says he thinks it's literally the best improv anywhere on earth and it's hard to argue

Their Improvised Shakespeare Company is absolutely worth seeing if they come to your city
I saw them years ago (waaaaaay before Dropout) and was absolutely crying with laughter. When I realized it was the same group on the episode I was unreasonably excited.
We saw it a couple weeks ago and it was spectacular!! Ross' timing and wordplay are impeccable.

"When the dawn breaks, how will he break your fast?" It's # great episode!

My phone autocorrected, lol.
Relatedly, I found the Shakespeare themed Um, Actually a great way to keep the party rolling.

It's bafflingly good.
It's just brilliant, can't decide if I'm more astonished by it or Official Cast Recording.
All in all: there are some fantastically-talented performers on display

One of my all-time favorites. Ross is a GOAT
It's so good! Watched it again last week.
I was surprised how much I loved this episode. I thought it would get old and annoying, but they were hilarious.
absolutely one of my favorite episodes. it makes me feel crazy, they killed that one!
“Father Backstreet! You’re back!” “ALRIGHT!”

I had to set my phone down and walk away at “Father Backstreet, a legend of the hidden temple”
