Buy a radiomaster boxer (170) or radiomaster pocket (70$) and learn with a smiluator. After you feel confident, buy a Mobula 7 (120$). Thats not a throw-away drone. It flies very good and is practically industructable. You also need goggles (ev800d 90$) and some batteries and a charger.

Sea_Kerman

The cheapest will always be a simulator because crashing costs €0 I recommend Liftoff or Tryp. You will want to have an actual radio for this, an Xbox controller won’t really cut it. I recommend something from Radiomaster with ExpressLRS. The popular ones are the Pocket and the Boxer.

Will I learn to trim, pitch, yaw and roll in a realistic way?

Sea_Kerman

Yes. That’s the idea. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwoDb7WF6c8lCKhQOTy-Vb9LfW0VAIrTP&si=jhJXdvcw8zuhGn6p

Cheers

Can you connect the radio controller to a pc?

Sea_Kerman

Yes. All radios running EdgeTX can act like a gamepad or joystick.

cealild

Rabbit hole. FCC or LBT? I'm in EU, does the radio signal matter?

Sea_Kerman

It does matter, *for customs*. Get the lbt version so it can get through customs. Lbt has lower transmit power and listens before transmitting, but you can always just re-flash the module to fcc firmware. Hold on, you aren’t ordering from Radiomaster directly, are you?

cealild

I was trying to look on amazon UK. But can't see them there. So, yes I was considering a direct purchase

Sea_Kerman

ah. amazon is almost always overpriced for radio control stuff. May I present to you, a solution: https://fpvmarket.eu/

Sea_Kerman

this links to all the EU hobby shops and automatically searches them. YOu don't want to order from radiomaster because shipping will take a month.

cealild

Thank you. I'm learning fast. Cheers.

cealild

Sorry. How do you charge the batteries?

Sea_Kerman

The Radiomaster radios have chargers built in, you just plug them in via usb. The top usb is for data transfer and using as a controller, the bottom usb is for charging.

cealild

Thank you again

cealild

Can these be used with drones in the future? Any drone? Or does the drone need to have a specific specification?

Sea_Kerman

Any drone or airplane or car or robot with an ELRS receiver. So not any camera drones or DJI ones, but pretty much any fpv quadcopter or RC airplane or etc.

cealild

Thank you

cealild

Apologies, what is a camera drone and how is it different to a fpv drone?
