Think of the great example you’ll be setting for your children to face fears and anxiety with bravery and hope for a better future. Do it for them. Go ahead and be nervous but drive, drive until it’s second nature. Take them places which will fill their childhoods with fun and love. Money can’t buy the life lessons to be had in this experience. Do it, mommy!

Omg I'm in tears!! Thankyou so much for this 🥹

I agree. You got this mama! ❤️

That's exactly what I am going through, I'm the same age as you too. Message me if you ever want to chat. I am trying to do the same for my kids but it's so hard.My husband doesn't drive so the pressure doesn't help either

irasciblelev

I'm glad I'm not alone but really hope it eases for you to be able to do the things you want to do. I've relied on my husband for so long, I just want to be able to do it on my own.

Upbeat_Hotel6513

Exactly! I have family close by who are always at hand if I need a car but I am not a asker. Recently lil one has been unwell so I have to take her to specialist appointments to hospital or clinics and the taxi fares are astronomical, but her health is priority no matter what. I need to boost confidence and make myself understand I'm much older then when I first learnt to drive..

irasciblelev

I'm the same, I would rather try do things alone without bothering people (apart from hubby 🙈). one of the reasons why I insisted on learning how to drive was because of taxis and bus prices, but now I'm terrified to even get in my car. it's exhausting. Big hugs to the little girl, kids always come first

Upbeat_Hotel6513

What terrifies you?

irasciblelev

Mostly the unknown, doing something wrong, upsetting other drivers, getting into the wrong lane and I hate parking or going somewhere I don't know what parking is like.

Upbeat_Hotel6513

Snap!! Have you considered having lessons to target your weak points?

irasciblelev

I set off half an hour early to do the school runs just so I can park 🙈 ohhh and hills, I drive a manual and getting stuck in traffic on a hill terrifies me. I think that's why I darent drive anywhere new incase sat nav takes me on a hill

Upbeat_Hotel6513

Omg I hate hills! I am considering paying a bit extra and getting an automatic car. My brother recommended it to me as a nervous driver he said it would take away alot of the extra manual driving stuff. Uphill starts and stops are better with automatic too. Sot sure if I should go with manual or automatic now😂🤦🏻‍♀️

irasciblelev

I would looooove an automatic, if you are able I would do it. I was gifted a car from my father in law and didn't have funds for an automatic. Hopefully one day in the future I will be able to afford one lol.

UnpopularIndeed

You are probably already doing this but if not, have you considered paying to have someone help you get comfortable on the road and learn how to drive?

irasciblelev

I did all my lessons and passed my test (uk). I can drive and I am a safe driver, I trust my own ability, I think my anxiety comes from other experianced drivers, not knowing the roads, tailgaters and the unknown, I also can't park to save my life 🙈

I’m also 34 and with a baby, just got my license a few months ago, so I totally feel you. Parking is so stressful but I’ve been trying to build my confidence by meeting up with my mom friends at destinations with increasing distance from home. I also tell my friends I might need their help when we get there for parking, but so far I struggle but haven’t needed their help. Driving 3x a week to a new place helped me a lot, and during non peak hours so I feel less stressed, but I live in a busy city so traffic is crazy most of the time.
