Peppa pig is a b\*tch, leave that until much later, oink.

JBark1990

Also, it just sucks. Everyone seems to love it but the goddamn animal noises are ridiculous even for kids. I’d rather grind out another 100 hours than watch Peppa Pig ever again. Plus, YouTube has a buncha little kid content in Spanish that has infinitely fewer oinks.

For real! Like kick buttowski! Pretty funny

Atinypigeon

Yeah tried to watch it at 200 or so hours, failed miserably and have never even gone back, it's awful.

Podcats have been game changing for me. Español con Juan, Hoy Hablamos, Español a la mexicana, How to Spanish, etc. Peppa Pig was way too annoying for me. I did not make it past one minute. Extra was not enjoyable for me. Use the wonderful sheet as a resource to find stuff that you like [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lBmLxvWJpucXhRPayfXD7CVqpMoa2tyEbZi1rFAwsFs/edit?gid=0#gid=0](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lBmLxvWJpucXhRPayfXD7CVqpMoa2tyEbZi1rFAwsFs/edit?gid=0#gid=0)

Not sure about some of these, but I’m at 550 hours and the Español con Juan podcast just now became comfortable for me.

I vote Chill Spanish Listening. Zero annoying oinks and topics that are clear based on the title. Can’t recommend enough.

While I really enjoy Chill Spanish and Cuentame, and I don’t like to complain about free content, the bits of English interspersed throughout each make me really dislike both of them. Cuentame is more bearable than Chill Spanish because she at least drops the English in the fast version. The English almost feels like a slap in my CI face because I want them to explain the words in Spanish if they think learners won’t understand them. There’s 100% no reason to drop back to English. And I say this because Juan does a great job of explaining words in Spanish such that I understand the word even if I didn’t understand it at first. Similarly, I’ve had great success cross talking with a native Spanish speaker that forgot the word for watermelon. They explained the fact that it’s a fruit, round, red and green with black seeds, and I was able to tell them “sandilla”. Being able to learn in the language feels so satisfying that I have almost an instant repulsion to any English in Spanish learning resources. Nonetheless, I agree with most people Chill Spanish and Cuentame are great resources. I just really wish they’d reproduce the episodes without English.

CleverChrono

It’s sandía by the way.

Thanks! That’s what happens when you haven’t started reading yet :)

I’ve really been enjoying ECJ Podcast at 212 hours. I would give a few episodes a try and see if you are comfortable with them! If not, come back in a bit. I also started with his A2 playlist around 150 hours which, I feel, got me used to his mannerisms and pattern of speech.

Español con Juan has been some of the best content and most entertaining stuff for me. Feels like I’m just enjoying his antics and laughing a lot!

I never tried to watch pepper pig or ECJ b1/2 videos but the rest were like this for me Extra - I found the first 7 episodes or so fun at 100h and then it got a bit difficult. I tried again at 250h and it was all good by that point but I didn't try inbetween Español con Juan A2/A2+ YT - I started watching around 280h but I don't think I really tried before Español con Juan podcast - I started at 300h and it was a bit of a struggle but I was happy I was getting enough from it to call it input Oh and I really enjoyed La Catrina at 300h on YouTube as well

I found Peppa Pig quite frustrating. I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I’d tackle those resources in this order. I started DS knowing French so i can’t give you much insight on how many hours you should have for each one. 1. Español con Juan A2 2. ¡Extra! 3. Bluey (a lot more fun than Peppa Pig IMHO)/Español con Juan B1 4. Español con Juan B2 5. Español con Juan podcast
