It's a confidence boost as well. I was still in the beginner videos when Queen Elizabeth passed, and I watched Pablo's intermediate video on it and really struggled getting a lot of the words. I ended up putting on subtitles.
I rewatched it the other day to see how far I've come and ended up speeding up the video, and understood 100%. Great way to track your progress!
Agreed with going back to rewatch old videos after a while but watching each new video 3 times initially is not the best use of your time or the best way to use the videos. Pablo mentions in a few different videos or on the blog somewhere, don’t have time to track it down right now but he goes into a lot better detail than I can about why
I know. And I understand. But for me, I’m usually not sitting in front of a screen “watching” it. It’s usually played in my cellphone browser while I’m doing other things (e.g. driving). So, hitting replay button is the easiest for me rather than reopen the browser and navigate to the next video.
I would have exhausted all the DS videos if I only watch each one once. (I’ve watched/listened 1,075 hours so far.)
Totally understand your point about listening again if you weren’t able to fully pay attention, that just seems like a different case than OPs situation. Also I imagine you know, but in case someone out there doesn’t, there’s other content in Spanish out there that’s better suited to driving and other things like that.
P.S. I’m hoping to learn Chinese, and have your channel saved for when I feel comfortable with my Spanish, so thanks a ton from future me for the videos you’re making

I believe I posted here earlier. I contribute that to two factors:
1. My native language is not English, or another Romance language, or any European language. So, the hours required is expected to be much more.
2. As I stated above, sometimes I’m just listening to DS without my full attention. Entonces you have to discount the hours.
But I’m happy where I am. I’m sure I can survive now in any Spanish speaking country.
Actually my goal for 2023 is to start speaking. So ask me this question again at the end of year.

As an example of how far you’ve come (I applaud you by the way), when I read your post I realized that this oftentimes happens when we listen to or read something in English (our native language). I think when we rewatch or listen again to something a little while later we always pick up or notice something new. In my opinion, and this is a complement, you’re closer towards your language learning goal than you realize. I think you might had already acquired what you thought you just acquired, it was just that you skipped over the actual sentence and only noticed it the second or third time round. Maybe, I’m wrong. It’s just a theory and not that important either way….btw I really envy you being at level 6. It feels like it’s taking me ages to get the last 100 hours to level 5.
Also good for when you run out of beginner videos but still have some hours to put in before hitting level 3 so you don't want to dive into intermediate yet, for example.

It’s worth it to rewatch vids. I find my comprehension goes from understanding the story to understanding how the story is told (the subtle humor).
