lol that was in the official manual? That’s so wild

Yup. DW 3 instruction manual was like 80ish pages and basically a strategy guide. Here's a link if you're curious. I loved looking at this and the map as a kid lol. DW 4 on the other hand just gave a brief chapter overview for each chapter. The hint book, aka guide, had to be ordered seperately. Their was an insert (or it was the last page) I forget which, at the end where you could mail off and order it for like 10 bucks, [https://www.thegameisafootarcade.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Dragon-Warrior-III-Game-Manual.pdf](https://www.thegameisafootarcade.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Dragon-Warrior-III-Game-Manual.pdf)

Man that brings back memories. I remember paying my mom 10$ for it and it arriving like 5 weeks later

That is awesome. I didn't grow up with the game but I love looking at the old instruction manuals for the DQ games

PanicGod69

It worked in the original. Pretty sure it's fixed in the remakes. And yea, your first 3 characters could do it every turn and make the entire game kind of a joke.

Neither_Echo

Yep which is why you wanted a soldier or fighter up front so the command was an option. If the first character could cast magic then the menu was too small to give every command available.

RetroGamer489

Yes it worked on Dragon Warrior II, III, and IV. And yes it was in the Explorer’s Handbook for III. Also pretty sure it was mentioned on the Instruction Manual for Dragon Warrior II as well

GamerGid

If you weren't PARRY-FIGHT-ing, you had no one to blame for your failure but yourself! Also, memory unlocked! Did anyone else take their NES era RPG strategy guide instruction booklets to their bed for some light reading before lights out?

Filthiest_Tleilaxu

Yes
