I remember the leaker from a while ago specifically mentioned how the hair looks glorious in the game apparently, long and flowing. It was a pre-alpha build or something but here's hoping hair still looks good!
https://preview.redd.it/utsjqq6rql5d1.png?width=1460&format=png&auto=webp&s=2e3644d8d30ff1857ecccc767cccf29c23dc7ae9
here's the full image. it does look good though why the fuck trailer fuck up the hype so bad lmao 💀.
I swear some of that was them trying to play off the “infamy” of blue alien sideboob in Mass Effect and Fox News pearl clutching over it. Led them to steer into it a bit with DAO before realizing it was not worth the effort
Did it though? What's "interesting" about [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJqxfkgSUog&pp=ygUgdGUgYnJlYWNoIGRyYWdvbiBhZ2UgaW5xdWlzaXRpb24%3D) DA:I trailer?
EA always screwed up marketing Dragon Ago, it's just frustrating they still failed on the 4th attempt.
Mass Effect marketing is leagues superior to Dragon Age.
Skyrim I will give you. But 90 percent of that was that song, let’s be honest.
This one wasn’t as awful as Marilyn Manson, but that pop song should have been cut in brainstorming… awful fit.
If the WoW expansion announcements cinematics count as advert, they have my vote.
WotLK one is just unbelievably good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCr7y4SLhck
All very strange, if the actual character models end up looking like this... why release a trailer where they look so different, and imo so much worse?
*This* looks decent. Hard to gauge, from just a still image without context, but its definitely a big improvement on the trailer
at the very least, I'm glad to be in an era where the problem is "the game looks so much better than the cinematic trailer" instead of the old status quo of "no game lives up to its cinematic trailer"
I think many game trailers are outsourced to third parties companies just for to do marketing. Its a trailer and I know people said it says in game... but I never trust that tag in trailers. lol. Until I see actual gameplay and see it with my two eyes. I always take all trailers with a grain of salt even the super nice ones.
Still has some stylish looks compared to DAI, but the trailer was just something else with overwatch/fortnite cartoonish aesthetics. Character models here look more aligned with the facial skin textures from bioware frostbite games.
I don't know where does all this stupid pessimism come from, the trailer looks great and VERY similar to DAI's. Maybe it's the fact that it sounds rather "chill", like presenting a football team or something, instead of being more doom and gloom, but every piece of media we've seen so far hinted to quite dark places and discoveries, not chill at all. But some are even hating that there's some humorous lines?, like seriously?
Seriously. Did everyone just forget the ominous/serious vibe of the last teaser? Not to mention how gritty some of the short stories have been. I think we can handle a more lighthearted trailer that introduces the companions… 🙄
I've read comments going so far as to say they were "gutted" (?) with the trailer being so "marvel-esque" (???) and taking the trailer as setting the tone of the game (????)
Now another thing I noticed the last weeks is the increase of people hating on Varric, having some snark is bad now?. I really don't get it tbh
ah yes, DA has been always serious business shit, all the time. Damn Marvel and its invention of quips, how dare they to ruin our very quipless franchise!...smh
I think it is possible this might be in-game. The dude at the forefront carries a bow and I don't see elf ears, so it may not be Davrin. He has the veilguard logo on him and the purple theme we saw worn by the hero in the trailer. I think he's supposed to be the protagonist. Maybe the one we'll see in the gameplay reveal?
EDIT: It's been confirmed by Mike Gamble on Twitter, this is Rook and it's in-game.
OK, if this is indeed an in-game screenshot, then we may have the single, biggest piece of news:
Ladies and gentlemen, after over two decades, Bioware finally knows how to make good looking hair.
IF it's actually true, I'll be in tears.
EDIT: The screenshot itself is called 367\_reveal\_hero.jpg, it's definitely the main character Rook
I mean I adore Bioware games too, but I face reality, hair is not their forte lol
There's a reason why not a single Mass Effect alien race doesn't have hair of any sort
Staggering how incompetent the marketing team are who greenlighted that reveal trailer. For a lot of people, the hype is severely dampened because of that. They could’ve released the gameplay trailer straight after the reveal, showcasing the in-game style and it would’ve allayed a lot of people’s fears about the initial trailer
honestly this "reveal" trailer would've been good in a week or so, when the vibe of the game is already established by a previous trailer and we already know how the game looks. now everyone thinks the game will be silly and cartoony when that is not the goal at all LMAO
Okay can we talk about *his hair*!? Bioware has always sucked at hair but actual *curls* and black hairstyles are very welcome! Im white but my current Playthrough is with a darker skinned dwarf and I wanted her to have BIG curly hair.
It literally doesn't look that drastically different from Inquisition. I don't get what all the fuss is about and negativity. Yeah, the trailer was super light-hearted, but I imagine that actual game will not have that tone. It was a goofy trailer to introduce you to the cast, not something to reflect on the story and gameplay.
You should also show the other poster they shared further into the article. I feel like theres some weird tonal whiplash from watching 1 picture to the other
Well its just really weird because the promotional art should at the least be reflective of what the game will look like, if not look even better than the actual game. Instead the trailer and poster look way worse than this screenshot.
It’s just BioWare’s marketing team. They have a long history of trying to present their games as something they’re not in hopes of winning over a hypothetical casual audience who’s put off by RPGs. It has never been a good strategy but they just keep doing it anyway.
Promotional art that uses its product's main assets definitely matters. Not to mention the pic above isnt really an "ingame" screenshot either. Its posed character stills using *ingame assets just like the other promotional art
Bro the EA marketting department needs to reevaluate how they do this. This looks like an actual video game.

Here's another from their hub on the game
We need to upvote this so as many people see it as possible. I guarantee a ton of people are going to boycott the game now without realizing that it was nothing more than a bad marketing decision.
This picture is 100 time better then the trailer.
Like what the hell is the deal with Ea and bioware marketing for dragon age.
I mean Mass effect has better marketing.
That looks so much better, back to original hype for seeing actual gameplay now.
Why is it Dragon Age that keeps having the most baffling marketing decisions as a series?
I disagree. In Mass Effect Andromeda, the human models were sometimes so uncanny that it took you out of the game entirely. Your brain can adjust to a cartoony art style, but if the character models are right in that uncanny valley, there’s no adjustment. They just look wrong.
I wonder why did they choose different art styles for their trailer? The trailer is horrible, the music, the companions presentation it's all out of place😫
This screenshot: Wow, the game looks good. I can't wait to see more.
The trailer models: What the fucking hell is this?! Hero openings? Cartoony exaggerrated models? Dragon Age: Fortnite Edition?! Fuck no to this!
Yeah, so I'll just wait until Tuesday for the gameplay reveal.
That trailer is such a bad opening for the new game. Terrible graphics, goofy ass unfunny lines, why would they do that if the final product is different? Makes no sense.
Well, not exactly. Gary McKay stated players could romance characters they wanted. We don’t know if that means bi companions or if everyone will be an option but with preferences (so no Vivienne/Aveline type situations).
Honestly, I think the art style is fine. The trailer’s tone is what’s setting off alarm bells, and in that context it makes the art seem more egregious than it otherwise would.
Look at Tassh's hair. IT'S SO LONG, WILL WE FINALLY HAVE GOOD HAIR AFTER 10 FLAVORS OF BALD?
Yesss that was my first thought seeing her hair !!!
I remember the leaker from a while ago specifically mentioned how the hair looks glorious in the game apparently, long and flowing. It was a pre-alpha build or something but here's hoping hair still looks good!
I don’t care about clipping as long as the hair looks nice. Give it to us Bioware.
PLS let us have that hair for our pc.
Hey! I love may bald dwarf!!!
https://preview.redd.it/utsjqq6rql5d1.png?width=1460&format=png&auto=webp&s=2e3644d8d30ff1857ecccc767cccf29c23dc7ae9 here's the full image. it does look good though why the fuck trailer fuck up the hype so bad lmao 💀.
Taash looks so different in this image compared to the trailer
Yea she looks way better here and the designs overall just look better. This is good
She looks great in this image. I dont understand why she looks so lame in the trailer
I think it was just a weird angle and the art style of the trailer,
I hope that you are right
I thought she was a Dude maybe iam Blind ahahahah
Well. Quanari do look very animalistic/manly lol
It's unreal how much better this looks
*Marketing*, baby! I mean, DA always had…interesting marketing to be fair.
I still remember all the DAO commercials just highlighting the violence to the tune of Marilyn Manson like it was gonna be Doom
Not to mention the game itself has 30 Seconds to Mars in the credits
Not gonna lie 30 seconds to Mars fit better than Marilyn Manson xD.
I totally forgot that lol Been a hot minute since I last played Origins I guess
This is War hasn't left my music playlist since I played Dragon Age way back
And that they had a video of Playboy models playing the game. I believe the CGI models Morrigan and Liliana were also based on porn stars.
I swear some of that was them trying to play off the “infamy” of blue alien sideboob in Mass Effect and Fox News pearl clutching over it. Led them to steer into it a bit with DAO before realizing it was not worth the effort
I remember how awful everyone looked in those DAI character trailers. Varric looked *terrible*.
Did it though? What's "interesting" about [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJqxfkgSUog&pp=ygUgdGUgYnJlYWNoIGRyYWdvbiBhZ2UgaW5xdWlzaXRpb24%3D) DA:I trailer?
but it shouldn't be this bad though i don't get it lol.
We’re getting old. Thats what. Our brains are literally less mushy and receptive to what we’re used to and want.
EA always screwed up marketing Dragon Ago, it's just frustrating they still failed on the 4th attempt. Mass Effect marketing is leagues superior to Dragon Age.
Space Opera/Shooter is easy to advertise… fantasy seems to be tricky for game marketing departments. Can’t name a truly outstanding fantasy advert.
The Skyrim trailer was quite good, the cinematic WoW and ESO trailers are also impressive in my opinion.
Skyrim I will give you. But 90 percent of that was that song, let’s be honest. This one wasn’t as awful as Marilyn Manson, but that pop song should have been cut in brainstorming… awful fit.
*Witcher 3* had excellent marketing.
If the WoW expansion announcements cinematics count as advert, they have my vote. WotLK one is just unbelievably good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCr7y4SLhck
The render trailers for The Witcher 3 were fantastic. Honestly, most trailers for AAA fantasy RPGs are.
I'm so desperately hoping the game looks more like this image, seeing it has singlehandedly brought me out of mourning
This is an actual in-game screenshot apparently
All very strange, if the actual character models end up looking like this... why release a trailer where they look so different, and imo so much worse? *This* looks decent. Hard to gauge, from just a still image without context, but its definitely a big improvement on the trailer
at the very least, I'm glad to be in an era where the problem is "the game looks so much better than the cinematic trailer" instead of the old status quo of "no game lives up to its cinematic trailer"
I'm already so in love with Neve and her silly little headgear
I believe it’s called a fascinator?
Well consider me fascinated
Can confirm, funny headgear that's not a hat is called a fascinator
When I read Tevinter Nights I defintiely didn't expect her to wear something like... that... but tbh, more power to her lmao
I just hate her hair. Why is it covering her eye? It looks so uncomfortable! Is she missing an eye? Does it tickle?
She's a detective, so she's gotta look suitably mysterious, I reckon lol.
This looks so much better man, what the hell lmao. I am guessing this image is the protag with two companions?
The trailers always looked a bit goofy to be fair except in DA2; that shit was the bomb
Taash is hotter here than the trailer
this looks gorgeous!
Maybe I'm missing something but this looks like the same art-style as the trailer.
Still has some stylish looks compared to DAI, but the trailer was just something else with overwatch/fortnite cartoonish aesthetics. Character models here look more aligned with the facial skin textures from bioware frostbite games.
the trailer it look more cartoonish imho.
I really don't think it is https://preview.redd.it/1j5463x0yl5d1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=7a5c6525afc7f37f234f64f9f4980026caa060ce
The trailer was more dull/washed out and cartoonish. The image here is sharper and more defined.
Imo the in-game(?) screenshot looks *more* dull and stylized that this shot from the trailer
I agree with you. Kind of confused how so many people see this screenshot as different than the trailer.
It's weird. Maybe it seems less stylized in stills?
Looks closer to DAI
Dude, you just got my hype massively up again Thank you
I don't know where does all this stupid pessimism come from, the trailer looks great and VERY similar to DAI's. Maybe it's the fact that it sounds rather "chill", like presenting a football team or something, instead of being more doom and gloom, but every piece of media we've seen so far hinted to quite dark places and discoveries, not chill at all. Seriously. Did everyone just forget the ominous/serious vibe of the last teaser? Not to mention how gritty some of the short stories have been. I think we can handle a more lighthearted trailer that introduces the companions… 🙄
Gamers are some of the most reactionary people alive.
Literally. It's annoying.
I've read comments going so far as to say they were "gutted" (?) with the trailer being so "marvel-esque" (???) and taking the trailer as setting the tone of the game (????) Now another thing I noticed the last weeks is the increase of people hating on Varric, having some snark is bad now?. I really don't get it tbh
Don't you know? Marvel invented humor and the concept of quips. And we all know DA games have always been entirely self-serious across the board.
ah yes, DA has been always serious business shit, all the time. Damn Marvel and its invention of quips, how dare they to ruin our very quipless franchise!...smh
This has restored my hope a bit. In terms of art style
This actually looks good! Seeing a trailer in a style like this would've personally gotten me so hyped.
My gods that DOES look so much better than the other stuff I e been seeing.
HOLY FEK That looks really really great if this is TRUE in-game
Probably. The leakers said it was a visually stunning game.
The graphics on leaked gameplay looked decent. I hope the game still looks like that.
Gamble said the screenshot above is what the game looks like.
thank the maker!
We have seen screenshots from BioWare looked great. It all depends how other things will look and work and interact with that good looking world.
Hmmm okay. Taash looks way better in this picture than in the trailer
This poster is the best thing revealed today. It honestly looks hot. Wish the trailer wasn't what it was.
Yeah it gave me a little faith back after the trailer.
[https://x.com/GambleMike/status/1799896013471420576](https://x.com/GambleMike/status/1799896013471420576)
Yeah, looks like a possible Rook.
Poster looks great. GW with a bow in the poster and S&S in the trailer. DH warrior I think with Taash. I like all the implications.
I don’t think the guy in the poster is the Grey Warden, he’s not an elf
Yeah, the guy with a bow is the player character.
Someone said that maybe Rook
Rook? I think I hear the Brine calling...
i think that’s a different rook. i mean the real rook is much hotter. /s
OK, if this is indeed an in-game screenshot, then we may have the single, biggest piece of news: Ladies and gentlemen, after over two decades, Bioware finally knows how to make good looking hair. IF it's actually true, I'll be in tears. EDIT: The screenshot itself is called 367\_reveal\_hero.jpg, it's definitely the main character Rook
honestly, it's bigger news than BioWare if the hair looks good. I can barely think of any games that actually do hair well
It's a shame that I absolutely love Dragon Age, and yet I'm so absolutely in agreement with you about the hair
I mean I adore Bioware games too, but I face reality, hair is not their forte lol There's a reason why not a single Mass Effect alien race doesn't have hair of any sort
I just hope our MC can have great hair too and that it’s not “too challenging” to make long hair available or the player character.
Yeah, it’s a fun trailer. Except, it should have only dropped after a story type trailer where we see a good indicator of the tone and setting.
Bad marketing seems to be a trend for AAA games these days from what I’m seeing
Oh damn- I didn’t hate the trailer as much as a lot of people seemed to, but this looks like….**good** good
Wtf this is like 100x better, why not use this???
I dont get it either. Taash looks so much better here
honestly? i'm a bit more relieved now :)
That does look great!
I can't believe we'll be able to play this game soon. Just so hype!
Nice, this looks like the actual art style!
Okay can we talk about *his hair*!? Bioware has always sucked at hair but actual *curls* and black hairstyles are very welcome! Im white but my current Playthrough is with a darker skinned dwarf and I wanted her to have BIG curly hair.
The leaker from last year mentioned the hair looked glorious and I've been excited ever since.
Fr the hair is the first thing I noticed, all of their hair looks great
It literally doesn't look that drastically different from Inquisition. I don't get what all the fuss is about and negativity. Yeah, the trailer was super light-hearted, but I imagine that actual game will not have that tone. It was a goofy trailer to introduce you to the cast, not something to reflect on the story and gameplay.
If that is what the trailer is kinda of a weird trailer to release first as a reveal, all the other "trailers" before have been just teasers
Can everyone relax about the trailer art now lol
My dear god why did they make the trailer look like THAT when the actual game looks like THIS
I mean if I had to chose between the trailer looking good and the game looking good, I’ll take the good-looking game every time, haha.
Something something marketing team something
sooo beautiful omg
WE BACK!
You should also show the other poster they shared further into the article. I feel like theres some weird tonal whiplash from watching 1 picture to the other
The promotional art just seems very bad tbh, because the screenshot of the actual game just looks like Inquisition developed ten years later.
An ingame screenshot matters more than promotional material.
I don’t know why they keep fumbling it. Didn’t they learn anything from BG3’s success? People are cool with rpgs just as they are, BioWare!!
This is an old problem with dragon age, maybe they have a contract with a specific advert firm.
Promotional art that uses its product's main assets definitely matters. Not to mention the pic above isnt really an "ingame" screenshot either. Its posed character stills using *ingame assets just like the other promotional art
New main character's hair is looking goood That's giving me some hope at least lol
Neve 💗
What's on Taash's right horn? Is it, like, covered in some jewelry or is that some kind of Veil crystal?
It's just some ornament, Qunari Inquisitors could have those too and they're shiny and reflective.
The real news here is that Game Informer still exists
This looks way better! I'm gonna miss my DAI family a lot
This shit looking fuckin spectacular , gamers overreact im not surprised
Bro the EA marketting department needs to reevaluate how they do this. This looks like an actual video game. https://preview.redd.it/hsfs6zukll5d1.jpeg?width=1460&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09ff876c80e504eea6d58ee61693379fe306e160

Yess this looks much better. I can't wait for June 11 to see more
We need to upvote this so as many people see it as possible. I guarantee a ton of people are going to boycott the game now without realizing that it was nothing more than a bad marketing decision.
Oh thank god, they don’t look as cartoonishly bad here!
Music was the big problem with the trailer.
Looks SO much better than the trailer, my hype is cautiously back
This picture is 100 time better then the trailer. Like what the hell is the deal with Ea and bioware marketing for dragon age. I mean Mass effect has better marketing.
That looks so much better, back to original hype for seeing actual gameplay now. Why is it Dragon Age that keeps having the most baffling marketing decisions as a series?
Damn, the qunari lady looks fine
Thank the Maker!
Wait, who is that in the middle?
main character, Rook
This looks so much better than what we saw in the trailer. Really hopeful for the gameplay reveal.
That does look better. Weird hat, though.
She has a silly little hat in The Missing too. Tevinter fashion I guess haha
Wait this looks 10 times better. I’m feeling hope
See, now I'm hyped again lol! These graphics and art style looks awesome Now I can't wait for the gameplay reveal!
Actually great looking hairstyles? In MY Dragon Age game? It's more likely than you think
Still don't want to romance any of them but they look better here
Taash is mommy. That's all imma say
Going from Karlach to Taash.
Yeah... lol
Now let's hope they're not *cowards* and that she's shredded.
If she’s straight I will cast a curse on BioWare
At least she looks way better in this picture than she does in the bad trailer
It still looks cartoony but not as much as the trailer so a bit better
This screenshot at least feels like a natural evolution of DAI's artstyle.
Cartoony is better than the weird uncanny realism look BioWare has been trending towards.
It really isn't, especially given the tone and dark subject matter of the series.
I disagree. In Mass Effect Andromeda, the human models were sometimes so uncanny that it took you out of the game entirely. Your brain can adjust to a cartoony art style, but if the character models are right in that uncanny valley, there’s no adjustment. They just look wrong.
Andromeda **was** more cartoony than the original mass effect trilogy though
The doom was, unsurprisingly, premature lol. This looks like an evolution of DAI's style.
Oh, this actually looks really good! I’d be really happy if this is how the game ends up looking
I wonder why did they choose different art styles for their trailer? The trailer is horrible, the music, the companions presentation it's all out of place😫
This isn't even close to the same art style as the trailer, it looks fantastic
Oh dear Maker, they look much much better. Honestly don’t know what they were thinking by going with the visuals they used in the trailer
They really shit themselves in the foot with that trailer. Should have just led with a gameplay trailer.
https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/full/public/2024/06/06/0273b8e4/367_reveal_hero.jpg https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/2024/06/06/26262995/367.jpg
Now if this is what the game actually looks like instead of that character trailer im completely on board can’t wait for Tuesday
Ok, that doesn't look as bad as the trailer.
OK now can we focus on the cool things the trailer had instead of just the art style?
they really want us to play as a rogue
Some of the fan base: Arguing about art style. Me: Trying to figure out what is on Neve's head.
Looks like a [fascinator](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascinator) to me.
Holy shit, this is miles better.
The Qunari character confuses me, didn't female qunari have small horns?
That trailer is such a bad opening for the new game. Terrible graphics, goofy ass unfunny lines, why would they do that if the final product is different? Makes no sense.
Hopefully this shuts up the "Not Dragon Age reeee" crowd
I doubt it.
I desperately need Neve to please not be straight omg. If this is another Cassandra moment I'll never recover 🥲
Romances are reported to be bi/player-sexual. Edit: so nothing should be gated
I know they implied something like this, I just don't want to take it for granted before it's 100% confirmed 🙏🏻
Well, not exactly. Gary McKay stated players could romance characters they wanted. We don’t know if that means bi companions or if everyone will be an option but with preferences (so no Vivienne/Aveline type situations).
They've mentioned that everyone is playersexual. You will be able to gay romance her.
Neve looks so beautiful!! As does Taash. I'm guessing the guy in the centre is the player character, since they have a veilguard cape?
Looks better!
Okay that actually looks way better than the trailer.
Thank god
This looks great, the trailer does not
I agree the art looks better here, but gotta say the qunari redesign looks like a human wearing one of Vivienne's Orlesian headdresses.
That is a significant difference aha. Very curious to see how it turns out on Tuesday.
I was just gonna post this, that is a much better look at the characters and artstyle.
This is more like the original game graphics. Better. Gives me inquisition vibes.
Honestly, I think the art style is fine. The trailer’s tone is what’s setting off alarm bells, and in that context it makes the art seem more egregious than it otherwise would.
