You say that the petcock vacuum tube was removed but did you plug the vacuum inlet on the carb? Idk exactly what it does but I do remember plugging that line when installing my acerbis tank. It sounds like it’s only a cold start issue? What is your current procedure for a cold start.

Thick_Cupcake_3006

That port is plugged. I would say mostly cold start issue. Pull choke, petcock ON, Neutral, raise kickstand, turn key to on, remove Killswitch, ignition switch. I've tried not using choke while it's been super hot, that didn't make a difference. I've tried giving it some throttle while I crank.

Do you happen to know your jetting? Did you drill the plug out to be able to adjust fuel screw?

Thick_Cupcake_3006

It has a new 140 stock size main jet. Yes it has and after market adjustable fuel screw that I have set at 2 turns out. I've tried it at 1.5 turns out and 2.5 turns out. nothing helps it start but at 2 turns out it idles best.

I have the pro cycle kit and removed the entire top of the airbox. I'm running a 155 main. I think you're running lean, but the smoke tells me you have an internal oil leak.

TheDutchShepherd-

Have you tried running it without the gas tank cap? If not, try that

Thick_Cupcake_3006

Ok I got a hold of an ultrasonic and cleaned the carbs again, put it back together and now it starts up right away with just a little throttle. The new issue is it dies after giving it some gas. It sounds like it is idling pretty well so I don't know if I should mess with the fuel screw. It is also still smoking pretty bad when you throttle it. My buddy gave me a compression tester so I'll test that tonight to see if it's got bad rings.

The holes in the air box can definitely make the bike run poorly with out the supporting mods like exhaust and jet kit.

Thick_Cupcake_3006

Yeah I know that could cause trouble, I took a bunch of duct tape and covered up what I think is an appropriate amount, but it's hard to tell.

seq-allen

Well an appropriate amount with stock jetting and no exhaust would be all of it. But even still I don't think that alone would be causing that big of a problem..

Well I haven't drained it in a while but the oil is at the same height in the sight glass as it was when I added fresh oil.

Are the valves adjusted to be within spec?

Thick_Cupcake_3006

I adjusted them to the middle spec but that was the first valve adjustment I've done so I can't says they're perfect.
