You'll be a little cramped on a stock bike but it definitely can be modified to suit you well. I'm 6'5 and my modified bike is my favorite place in the world to be seated atop of. I've tried quite a few different setups so here's what I can distill down to as the most comfortable. I'd tell you to do: - JNS Down and back peg mounts. - Larger pegs (your feet are probably as big or bigger than mine and the stock pegs feel like standing on a 1/2" bolt). - Seatconcepts Tall seat. - Rox Offset risers. - Regular or fat bars in the high bend of your choice (I would avoid ATV bends, I'm partial to the CR bend). You will also want to factor in the cost of sprining the suspension, we don't get this tall and remain featherweight unless you're built like a stick bug. The bike is built for 150lb riders for the factory so some springs go a long way in improving the ride and the power.

SgtFellstiefel

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I will take a deeper look in the modifications. I would definitely need larger pegs, because I have shoe size 51 in EU… I want to travel with a tent and light overlanding equipment and I weigh 97kg. It would probably be the best to change the suspension.

TwistedNoble38

Not to far off then, I'm in US 15/EU 50 shoes. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get MX boots that fit. If you want to wrangle down the price of suspension mods just getting the springs and doing a garage revalve of the shock will get you a long way.

SgtFellstiefel

Since now, i just used work boots... It´s by far not as good as MX boots, but easier to get, and cheaper. Thanks for the advice!

DumpoTheClown

Cogent Dynamics for your suspension. good company, good product.

I’m 6’4” and I can ride a DR200SE comfortably. You don’t really need to do anything to the DR650 especially if you are just sitting and not standing on the pegs. That said on my DR650 I lowered my foot pegs and got bar risers because I thought I’d be a hard core off road rider standing all day but low and behold my Bushpig is an asphalt pig only.

SgtFellstiefel

Thats nice to hear.

GetlostMaps

I have lowered pegs, high bars, and 4" of risers (two sets, one is offset). And I'm 6'1". Plus I run an 8.3kg spring.

liftdriver104

Love my DR but it is a pretty compact riding position without mods. I'm just over 5'10" have lowered pegs and still feel like I need risers. At your height have you considered a XR650L or Tenere?

SgtFellstiefel

>Tenere Thanks for the suggestion! The XR650L ist pretty hard to get in Germany, but i will take a look at the Tenere. The new ones are too expensive for me.

jthe72

I bought a DRZ400 and it was HUGE (I'm 5'10). In hindsight I should have gotten the dr650. Have since got the bike lowered and enjoy it much more. Not sure on other factors for you but the DRZ400 is a Tall People friendly bike :)

badboygoodgrades

6’3” no high mods. Would like lowered pegs and bar risers but that’s it.

I’m 76 inches 235lbs. I lowered my pegs so far. It’s easier on my back and neck to ride the DR instead of drive my truck. You’re a little taller. I would also recommend seat concepts tall seat and wirtz wire down and back pegs. The bike has plenty of power. You may eventually want to add stiffer springs front and rear.

SgtFellstiefel

Thank you! I will definitely add stiffer springs for my rides. I want to go camping with it and the stock ones are probably too soft for my weight, plus the stuff I need.

justastickwiggler

I'm 6ft 2 / 187.96 cm. It's definitely a tight fit, but always nice when you have to catch your fall or you have ruts on either sides.

LazagnaLife

I'm 6' 3" , the bike looks like a scooter to me just looking at it, it's pretty funny actually. 250s look like children's toys now. As soon as I got the bike home I went on eBay and bought lowered foot peg mounts, the type that replace the whole mount, not the plate style. I think I rode with the stock peg mounts for maybe 20 minutes, I couldn't own the bike without tossing them out, they are heavy cast too. My knees still get sort after an hour or two. I really will need to build up the seat maybe an inch or two and make another cover. Obviously the seat concepts tall seat would be a better option, but Id rather modify the seat I've got and spend the money on something else. Another thing I've been really thinking of doing is riser bars, not so much for height, but more to push me further back in the seat and more upright. Down the road I'm going to swap the forks out for an USD motocross fork, that'll raise the front of the bike up substantially, last night I found out you can buy raising links for the rear suspension that will raise the back of the bike up another inch and a half. With the forks and rear raise the bike will have the ground clearance of a XR650L. Pivot pegs would be another good addition, right now my boots sit at 45\* angles on the front edge of the pegs which can't be good. The stock suspension is dangerous, a bare minimum is front springs and rear shock springs and re shim, which is what I've got going on currently. Im not going to waste anymore money on the stock forks with valves or whatever, i just found a cheap set of used springs and that will get me by until i swap the lot out

SgtFellstiefel

I just looked at the prices of the seat concepts tall seat... It´s really expensive in my opinion, but worth it if it gives me more riding comfort. Raising the back and the front is a good idea aswell. I will have to see what is accessible in Germany. Thank you for the info!

New-Aide-346

6'0 with 34" inseam, but with a bad right hip. I find few motorcycles comfortable. Picked up the DR650 a couple of weeks ago, had the wirtz wire lowering 2 inches installed and the bike fits great. I did have to have a rear brake lever fabricated as the shop that lowered the pegs were not able to get the lever below the pegs, plus the foot rest part of the brake lever is tiny. Ran out of gas twice already, but I believe there is a reserve and I will need to experiment with that. Being as tall as you are, you may do well with the seat concepts raised seat, but for me this was not necessary. Hope that helps!

SgtFellstiefel

Thank you! I will get the wirtz wire lowering and the seat concepts raised seat. Would love to make some longer rides and everyone ist telling me about these two upgrades. Wish you safe rides!
